We had patchy morning fog this morning in Southern Oregon. It was awful.

2011-02-01 2:31:57 PM
For a change, I am glad to live in Western Washington.

2011-02-01 2:32:19 PM
Had to put on a light jacket here in Texas this morning.

Damn you, Art Bell! DAMN YOU!!!

It's 40 degrees and sunny in Portland. PORTLAND. Let that sink in for a minute.

SNOW ZOMBIE

2011-02-01 2:40:14 PM
Was 82F Sunday. Had to turn the car a/c on.

And yet the weather in the Sierras/Cascade is absurdly warm and dry for this time of year.

Last year at this time, we had five feet of snow on the ground, and that was a melt-down from higher levels earlier.

2011-02-01 2:44:25 PM
I'm in the big red area. That's where it will be warmest, right?

2011-02-01 2:44:30 PM
That is more than a little misleading. Here in North Central PA we have heavy could cover but the roads are clear and it has not snowed for several hours.

Tomorrow could get interesting though.

2011-02-01 2:46:15 PM
The SNOWpocalypse!!!

We still have a foot and a half on the ground at my house and its been nothing but rain in NYC. Bring it on!

I live in Portland Indiana. That's exactly what that red over us means.

Oh cool, a visible light shot.

Never mind that half of what you're seeing is snow already covering the ground and/or low clouds. The actual energy of the storm is still big, but only about 1/3 of the big white blob in that picture.

Panic anyway, I guess.

2011-02-01 2:51:02 PM
Well, that's a relief! It stops and disappears right at the Canadian border.

2011-02-01 2:52:29 PM
Aaaannd Accuweather just downgraded the amount of snowfall for my area and is no longer calling for freezing rain.

2011-02-01 2:54:19 PM

Quasar: I call dibs on Emmy Rossum.

Have you no shame, son?

2011-02-01 2:54:59 PM
60 degrees and sunny.

You jelly?

Yea Yea, the hippies will have to put on shoes and realize that life before the industrial revolution and the invention of the car sucked. Thus why nobody wants to go back to it.

This is Al Gore's Snowpacolobal warming's fault.

It's barely raining here

2011-02-01 3:00:14 PM
I've been waiting for snow and ice all day and NOTHING! NOTHING!!

2011-02-01 3:02:55 PM
Funny how this kind of thing only happens during winter months.

I think the global warming/climate change formula is missing an Algoreithm

We already know global warming is a myth. Let's not belabor the point by making further jokes.

2011-02-01 3:06:28 PM
I blame it on Obama.

2011-02-01 3:09:09 PM
I would welcome some snow here, becuase that usually means it warms up.

-34C tonight

It's 55 here and we're not going to get any snow. I want the blizzard dammit.

Jeez, I don't know why TFA bugs me so much, but tech site is really not tech about this.

Here we are right in the mass of the white blob, which they believe is all imminent snow doom:

What's that in real degrees?

2011-02-01 3:16:57 PM
Thankfully, it's not going to be bad here. If we get snowfall at all, it'll only be about 2". I can deal with that.

It's... well, it's YOU, so I assume you're ignorantly snarking at something politically useful, but I don't know what. Seasons, maybe?

That map just shows that its cloudy and maybe drizzling in most of the country. You need the percipitation map to show anything... which as you see above, isn't that big of a deal.

NuttierThanEver: Tried to warn us..,

Quick we have to save my son and Emmy Rossum's incredible nearly non-existant rack!

Oh wait, here in the DC area we're just gonna get rain and it's gonna be 53 degrees tomorrow.

I think Gary might have frozen to death while sitting out on his front porch waiting for the city dwellers to start killing each other.

That is a pretty cool (ba dum bum bssh) if misleading picture, though.....

I have to admit - the snowpocalypse is REALLY good at clearing out the office. half the building was gone by the time I got to work tonight, the coworker (who lives a mile down the road - I mean this literally...I can see his house from here) wimped out and dialed into the office to work from home.

I dunno man...I've got a 35 min drive to get here and I'm in the office. my coworker lives 5 minutes away and can walk here wimped out and stayed home. and the forcast calls for rain and maybe ice later in the morning.

No, but that's where long lasting fresh breath is the most cinnamony-delicious.

Yeah, but you are going to be going home in hell of a weather.
Props though for going to work. I couldn't take the weather in Chicago anymore and the city.
