Please note: This means the rest of us have to show up un-clothed.

luckyeddie: Thank you, akimbotoo, for the TF. I really appreciate it.

I have been neglecting my Caturday duties for the last two or three weeks - I have just been so busy at work - then this weekend I dipped my feet into All Grain brewing for the first time. It took hours - I really hope that my 1052 OG Brown Porter is worth it.

Mrs Luckyeddie has now agreed a timetable for our adoption by kittehs. Although her mum is still very ill (and she will never get better, I'm afraid), Sue has agreed that once we return from our Spring Break (5 days of drunken debauchery in Dublin for St Patrick's Day), then Angus and Rosie will be given the deeds to the house - and our hearts.

I haven't a clue who the kittehs are, but my AC/DC fanaticism dictated the names. It was either Angus and Rosie or Bonnie and Jack - the latter were discounted sharpish when Sue read the lyrics of 'The Jack' and realised what it was about lol.

We shall start the adoption process (going to the kitteh rescues etc) in the next few weeks. I can't wait - there is still a huge hole in my heart left by Noob's untimely departure last year. She always used to watch me brew, so today I missed her again.

No cat picture today - but here's a pic of my boiler just after I introduced the hops....

You are so very welcome! I usually remember to hide my tracks though. I realized I hadn't seen you here in a long while and thought that might get you to show up! ;)

I love both of your choices for kitty names, but partial to one since it is my "real" name.

Fiametta, if you're in any shape to read Caturday in the AM, I want to thank you for the pic of the cat in the Steelers cheerleader outfit. Am glad to be out of the large motel, where I didn't sleep well the past 2 nights. Didn't stay up singing til either 3 AM or dawn, either; I'm getting a touch too old for that.

So, if anyone is still checking this thread (I know, it's already Sunday or later), I have have run into an interesting question about my cat. I took 9-month old Toby to the vet last week to get neutered, and the vet's office called me for permission to do exploratory surgery to look for his missing testicle. Apparently, he only had one large one in the usual place, and even after the surgery (they opened up his abdomen like a spay and went searching around) they couldn't find the other one. Apparently wandering or undescended testes (cryptorchidism) are common in dogs and other mammals, but rare in cats, and the vet can't even tell me if there's another one in there somewhere, hiding out, or if Toby only had one large ball instead of two normal ones. Has anyone else seen this happen in any of their cats? My biggest question was whether Toby will still be fertile or not - I want to be a responsible cat owner and not contribute to the large population of kittens without homes. Can a wandering testle that is either too small to be seen or very far away from the usual area still make the cat fertile? Your thoughts and experiences are appreciated.

And by the way, Toby is recovering fine, although his shave does look amusing. I wish I had a working camera to take more recent photos, but alas, I only have his baby pictures.

The vet should have been able to find it, should still be in there. I've had two kittens like that, one the vet had to do a lot of searching, the other kitten it only took a short time to find the missing one.

There can still be some hormones which can cause problems when the kitten gets older. The cat might not be fertile, but can still have male "traits" that aren't very pleasant to live with. Another thing is the cat can be more prone to cancer which is something you don't ever want to happen.

Call your vet and ask about that and see what he/she says. There are ways they can test to find out if the cat is producing testosterone.

I agree with Domari that the vet should have found it. Mandu had the same thing. After going through a groin incision the vet saw that the cord disappeared into the abdomen so he did another incision and found it: the cord was wrapped around Mandu's bladder (with smaller than typical testicle attached). The vet said that, as Mandu grew, it could have caused serious problems or even killed him. Talk to you vet and find out exactly what he found and ask him about the fertility/hormone thing.

The goofball all grown up and healthy:

Tho at the moment I'm looking as guilty as any, we need to watch this business of not posting for hours on Monday or Nomday or whatever this is, lest the Mods re-possess our Extra Day that certain Farkers worked so hard to get.
Have had other places to be since this AM. Also El Spouse needed my computer & printer to run adrs labels for his chorus's Singing Valentines order folders. Those specific ones are being done a bit differently this year; rather than just going to wherever & singing & embarrassing the heck out of the recipient, his chorus is videoing the recordings onto DVD for folk to send to their kin serving overseas. Some in harm's way, some not. The local kin also get to appear & speak at the end of the recording, then ship the DVD where it needs to go.

Thank you to everyone who had advice for me with the Great Cassie Caper. For the moment, things with the litter box are looking up. Still trying to figure out what to do with the clawing until I can get to a bigger city to check out the Soft Paws (no one w/in an hour of us carries them). She's got 2 scratchers at this point and I'm not sure where I'd fit another. It'd be so nice to live somewhere a tad bigger! Looking around you can tell the cats have more stuff than the humans :) Earlier I had a parrot cat - Cassie decided to crawl up on my shoulders and snooze there for a while. She's so funny! I couldn't reach my phone to take a pic, but I'll work on new pics this week. Time to do some RL stuff before I have to go to work. I'll try to be back before we're done!

akimbotoo - Cassie LOVES toys! She can't get enough of them. Doesn't seem to matter what kind of toy it is - she even plays with pieces of litter if they get dragged out of the box. She has several boxes, one of which she sleeps in. She also has a plethora of mousies, the roll out of an aluminum foil box, several jingle balls, and 3 sizes of foil ball. Lars is most interested in the mousies and the occasional use of a jingle ball... oh, and his feathers on a pole thing. That's his toy that we've kept away from Cassie so he feels he's got something that is his own. I think my next purchase (next paycheck) will be one of the slanted scratchers. She loves the cardboard one she has, but has absolutely no interest in the upright one (though Lars paws at it sometimes). I'm really hoping adding another scratcher (though I have no idea where to put it!) will help curb scratching at the carpet and couch, though I'm most concerned about the carpet at this point. Ok, time to get ready for work!

Sometimes it's best to let sleeping boxcats lie... hehe

Would you believe she weighs about 10 pounds? However, she's only halfway to what the vet states will be her full maturity. She's a Siberian, so she'll get to between 15 and 20 pounds.

Your Abbey is just such a beautiful cat! She is one of the reasons I named my kitten Abby (she's small, so I shortened it) Mr Akimbotoo prefers your spelling, so I "may" change it when she gets bigger :)
