Brought to you by the Department of Making Shiat Up.

Seriously, what idiot put this together.

WTF is "Jelly Pie"? Lived in Arkansas all of my life and have never heard of it.

Stupid.

2011-01-14 1:59:31 PM
Minnesota..lol. Fried Food on a Stick. Whatever that may be, could be road kill.

2011-01-14 2:01:46 PM
Come on Utah green Jello. They didn't even try with that one.

Should've been funeral potatoes.

I'm ok with cheese steak for PA, Philly is the bigger region, but ramps (I think that's what those are, they're wild leeks) for WV? I know like one guy who eats ramps and if he hadn't mentioned it to me once I'd have never heard of it. Where's the pepperoni rolls for WV?

Subby can't even identify some of the food

Yeah, like that ridiculous blob on Illinois.

I was expecting lutefisk. Food on a stick is "state FAIR food," not "state food."

I was expecting that "crab puff" in Delaware to be a slice of Scrapple.

On the bright side, they did discriminate between the various styles of barbecue and pizzas. Having both a barbecue jihad and New York versus Chicago riot in one thread might be leave permanent scarring.

On the other hand, WTF is chislic?

2011-01-14 2:16:59 PM
So the west coast is the land of fruit & nuts? meh, I'm okay with that.

2011-01-14 2:17:42 PM
Fry Bread for Arizona? Seriously? I would say either the burrito or the Chimichanga (actually invented in Tucson).

I had fry bread at the fair when I was a kid and I don't even know where I could order it if I wanted it. It's gross.

How does Rhode Island not get clams? I'll accept steak for Texas, but it's way too big of a state with too many distinct cultures and areas if they'd picked anything else. South Texas? TexMex. East? Gumbo. North? Chicken Fried Steak.

2011-01-14 2:43:02 PM
Well, at least they got Missouri right. Toasted ravioli was invented in St. Louis, and it's delicious.

Virginia ham....they should have made it bacon. Mmmmmmmmmmm bacon.

I'm trying to figure out what Connecticut did to deserve hamburgers. Or Indiana for popcorn.

Also I've lived in Ohio for six years and have never had Cincinnati chili but that probably has something to do with never going further south than Akron before (kinda strange of me now that I think about it).

Glad I'm not living in Montana.

I was unaware that a tropical item like Macadamia nuts is a big crop in Oregon. I assume this is suppose to be part of some "left coast, land of fruits and nuts" sort of joke, but come on, at least put a little effort into it.

OK, I just noticed the key and now see it's supposed to be hazel nuts, but that's still certainly not a food I think of when I think of Oregon.

Yeah, I expected Hot Dish.

What's with the green jello for Utah?

Fish tacos?

No, we get grapes. That aren't used for eating. Good job, failtographer.

Also, Missouri should be what they call "wet BBQ", not Kansas.

Really? Cheese for Wisconsin? C'mon, they at least could have tried something other than that tired old cliche. What about cranberries? We're the top cranberry producing state in the US last I checked, and haven't been the top dairy producer in a long time now.

Lazy article is lazy.

Came here to say this. Also a quick survey of my friends revealed no one knew what jelly pie was.

Missouri gets Toasted Ravioli.

Fair, but I would have also suggested Gooey Butter Cake or Pork Steaks.

West Virginia - Ramps

o_O

I guess for all the fatties zipping around?

2011-01-14 3:37:45 PM
Massachusetts is all wrong. That's supposed to be "New England" clam chowder, not "Massachusetts" clam chowder.

What, you couldn't think of, oh...Boston baked beans? Boston cream pie?

/or at least cranberry juice?
//or the fluffernutter?

Cincinnati Chili does not represent Ohio.

Just Cinci, and Skyline is farking gross.

Wild garlic is yummy, especially if it is picled. Not allowed itr though, wifey has a garlic intolerance, and wild garlic is SOME POTENT SHIAT.
Great laxitive too.
Still, yummy.

I was thinking the same thing. Ramps were always more of a previous-generation thing from what I saw; when I was a kid, my dad and his side of the family would go out and find a bunch of them every year. Not so much anymore, and I don't know of anyone else that does it. Pepperoni rolls are way better.

/mainly because they don't reek

I would have guessed hot dogs for NY, but I guess pizza works too.

2011-01-14 3:39:56 PM
Pasties?

I didn't know you could eat those. Seems like you might get slapped if you tried to do that.

2011-01-14 3:40:21 PM
Can someone photoshop this so its racist, presumptuous, and regional? Like, watermelons in the south, bird-food eaters in the northwest, and ketchup sandwiches for Michigan. I have no skills.

Nevada doesn't even get a specific food just buffets. I think that would be a better pick for Alabama or Mississippi
