Oldsmobile, circa 1955

This is the trunk emblem on my dad's Holiday 98, inherited from his grandmother, and completely restored to ridiculous levels (it's won numerous awards). The Wiki, which never lies, actually uses the word 'Defunct' in describing the brand's status, as of April 29th, 2004. At that time, it was America's oldest surviving brand automobile, lasting 107 years. I chose the rear emblem shot as a symbol of it's passing.

It must have been an impressive sight to see this beauty rolling down the track. This was the last steam locomotive used for a scheduled passenger train on CN. She was constructed in 1929 as a coal burner but was converted to oil during 1944. She was retired in 1960 and donated to the City of Winnipeg in 1962.

Triply obsolete

This one is special to me. It's the mail slot in the front door at my grandmother's house. The three obsolete-isms are:
1. Mail, in general, is pretty obsolete.
2. We had a mailbox forever in place of this, just left of the door.
3. The door doesn't even exist anymore. Less than a month after I took this, we sold the house. Right now it's in the middle of renovations.

\a slight bonus fourth, if you want to call it that, is that my uncle, who owned the house at the time of the pic, passed away a week ago...
\\RIP, Uncle Moe. Miss you already.

A disused brewery in Boston, MA, now used as a a bunch of small businesses. The Sam Adams Brewery is right next to this, and a visit cannot be more recommended. Two words: Free Beer. 3/3, pops.

Davol School, Fall River, MA ~ Spring 2009
Mom used to teach in the upstairs room closest to the camera. The school closed about five years ago, I took this one and turned it into a faux postcard pic for her retirement.

It may look defunct and it was at the time, a blown engine. Some simply green, a shop vac and 3 days of nonstop elbow grease and she is now my ride commute...

Who's got the combination?

An old safe discarded in an old lot in Sunapee, New Hampshire, where Routes 11 & 103 meet. There's also a sawmill & an old passenger car from a train in the lot.

(pic pops to embiggen)

One of only a few shots that came out on a trip to Cole's Museum in Bangor. I believe this is the inside of a former railroad station or post office (or it served as both) that was in Enfield, ME. They just picked it up (the entire building) and moved it to the museum after it hadn't been used for a while for preservation purposes or something
