(ITN)   Thousands of tickets for Pope Benedict XVI's visit to Britain remain unsold. Which is strange, because the Catholic Church never usually has a problem with filling seats   (itn.co.uk) divider line

According to the official UK census (new window) it is.

Also, Mario isn't a plumber, I've never seen that lazy bastard do a days real work in his life. He's always pining after his bloody girlfriend who's always in someone elses castle. The slut.

As far as what the movies have depicted (since I haven't read any books), it's as close to a religion as one can get. Maybe there's a term for their beliefs, but jedi is basically priests/monks, yes both are occupations, but they are both religious occupations.

To be fair, I don't think anyone's ever seen any of the "Jedi" doing using force powers either.

Technically, they are Jedi Knights, so Knight would be their occupation and Jedi the belief system they follow.

I think the real reason for lack of interest is the churches failure to up date. They need a better opening act, Menudo just isn't creating the buzz it used to. Security is going to be so tight you won't be able to get a beach ball in never mind your Our Lady of Perpetual Suffering Holy Water Bong.

/I hear Lilith Fair is having similar problems maybe they could tour together.

One of the generals refers to the Force as being a religion in Episode IV. He's the one that gets choked but the Admiral makes Vader let go.

Spindle: One of the generals refers to the Force as being a religion in Episode IV. He's the one that gets choked but the Admiral makes Vader let go.

Han also refers to Obi-Wan's beliefs and lightsaber as "hokey religions and ancient weapons."

And Tarkin tells Vader that the Jedi are extinct, saying that Vader is "all that us left of their religion."

2010-09-15 8:45:39 AM
Also -- "Kirk" means "church."

The UK is a mess for a lot of reasons but one shining beacon here is the growing apathy towards religion.

The Pope not being a sell out is another sign that the relevance of religion is decreasing here...and I say good.

Goodness, could this possibly be because we had a big-ass religious revolution about six-hundred years ago where we told Catholicism to fark off? (or, well, the King did, so he could marry his mistress).

Apparently, though, it's because Britain has become a 'heathen wasteland' that embraces the 'culture of death'. I for one welcome our new heathen overlords.

It's funny how the godless ones are nicer to gays, brown people and young boys, isn't it, Pope? I can't help but shake the feeling Jesus and his mam would have been nice to them too.

It wouldn't have been difficult, seeing as Jesus was most likely brown and arguably gay.
