My first shot was a spider web on the porch steps after a rain, in case anyone is curious.

Gerber daisy on my back porch.

I'm not a photographer by any means. I can barely figure out my Nikon CoolPix L1 (which this picture was taken with). I knew I needed macro!

Not tilt shifted, just a rather extreme angle. Straight out of the camera with a 55-250 zoom lens. and its actually a bunch of motherboards nailed to the wall of my local computer repair shop.

Not sure if this counts as something most people would keep driving by--it's along a back dirt road in the middle of nowhere where people drive, but it's not heavily trafficked. Also, most people out there probably don't have a camera handy.

And hearing my grown son screaming at me is funny.

"Mama! Get away from it! I am calling the crazy wagon!"

"Well son, good luck finding the number. And if you do...getting someone to answer. This is Tennessee and the # is always busy."

thanks! Alaska (and I'm guessing all high latitude type places) has amazing light that really makes a difference. With sunsets (new window) like these (new window)
it's hard not to get great color. But I've also found that taking photos in a lot lower light than you would think would work tends to result in really intense color if you get the exposure right. It was nearly dark in the foreground when I took the house photo, and it's only with flash that the house isn't all in shadow.
