I've had this... thing bugging me in the back of my head to take this image. Well, not quite this image, but this is the closest I've gotten to what I see in my head. Keep trying, I guess.

The National Dream and The Last Spike. Finally finished reading the last chapter after I lost this book for a week on the gravel road leading to the parent's house. This is the second book I've done this to, the first was Jurassic Park.

I bought a new lens last week. I stuck the lens on the camera to play around with, then headed home. Pulled up to a stoplight, and this caught my eye. Would never have taken it, but... the camera was there, the man was there...

Unfortunately, I was just learning the lens, so I was worried more about focus than fov.

Walking from downtown to the riverfront in Redwing, MN with my wife and in-laws. My father-in-law, a retired photojournalist, commented that he was glad that "What the hell is he taking a picture of?" wouldn't only be directed at him anymore.

The wasps chew at the garden fence, presumably for their papery nests, and drink at my little solar-powered fountain. Chewing up fences is thirsty work...Took me several days and lots of cups of coffee sitting on the garden wall to get this shot.

In this case, the camera making me do it was the Infrared camera which was displaying how hot I am. I'm the hot-head on the right.

I just got my Voigtlander Micro 4/3 to Pentax K mount adapter. The camera is an Olympus PEN EP-1, with a 20 year old 200mm zoom with Macro facility. I removed the EP-1's lens, and used it to test the Macro. Some nice results!

A sample of Malachite at the local Natural History Museum, taken with my Olympus PEN EP-1 and a 20 year old Pentax-K mount telephoto lens with macro capability, manual focus and exposure only. Hand held, so focus is a bit dogdgy. I love museums which encourage cameras (although they frown on the use of tripods, but I have a small portable one which I can sneak in under my jacket...)

These were in the alley behind my hotel in LA on one trip. My traveling companions were not amused every time I ran off, camera-in-hand, saying "I have to get this."

I'm not a photographer by any means. I can barely figure out my Nikon CoolPix L1 (which this picture was taken with). I knew I needed macro!

Not sure if this counts as something most people would keep driving by--it's along a back dirt road in the middle of nowhere where people drive, but it's not heavily trafficked. Also, most people out there probably don't have a camera handy.
