Sounds like a "must miss" movie to me

Bah weep granah weep ninni bong!
2003-06-11 09:33:31 AM
what is up with these toys and comic books becoming movies. I look in one direction and see spider man. that was ok. Then I see dare devil. That sucked. Now we have the hulk, and now we even have transformers. I can see it now: Tetris....the movie!
2003-06-11 09:34:32 AM
Live action? How is that possible?
2003-06-11 09:34:39 AM
I don't think it's stupid. I think it's a great idea.
Now where did I put my optimus prime trailer?
2003-06-11 09:34:53 AM
Vin Diesel could play a transformer named "Vin Diesel."

Get it?
2003-06-11 09:34:54 AM
it would be cool if they used the original transforming sound from the cartoons... wa-wok-wok-wok-wa-wa
2003-06-11 09:35:18 AM
Well, He-Man was a really big live action hit. It made Courtney Cock a star. And who can forget Dolph Lundgren's amazing performance battling Skeletor on the planet Eternia?
2003-06-11 09:35:54 AM
Ok, say what you like, but I think a live-action rendition of the Transformers will be awesome. Toss in my childhood love affair with those bots along with some modern day special effects, bake it at 450 degrees for 90 minutes and you have yourself one tasty creation.

2003-06-11 09:36:39 AM
My Take on this is if they want to do a movie based on giant Robots and such why not make a Live Action Robotech movie. Because it isn't like they would run out of storylines and all they would have to do is just rewrite scripts from the old cartoon.

Jesus I just reread my post time to check into Geeks anonymous
2003-06-11 09:36:51 AM
Just as long as Orson Welles is in this one as well.
2003-06-11 09:36:58 AM
I have already downloaded the rough cut from IRC. The special effects suck.
2003-06-11 09:37:47 AM
Right on, brother.
2003-06-11 09:38:42 AM
Might be good, might be bad. The difference is whether this is based on the original cartoon, or the Pokemon ripoff new one.

Live Action STARSCREAM!!!
2003-06-11 09:39:51 AM
Call me a fanboy, but this give me a boner.
2003-06-11 09:40:08 AM
I'm sick and tired of all the new crap hollywood is coming out with. I've actually started researching older cool but less known movies released before 2000 and checking them out at the video store.
2003-06-11 09:40:39 AM
Optimus Prime is currently deployed with his NG unit and was unavailable for comment...

nothing to see here, move along...
2003-06-11 09:41:25 AM

the Matrix has just been banned in Egypt!

I kid you not!
2003-06-11 09:41:30 AM
Autobots... Transform and roll film!

So how exactly is this "live-action" going to work? I'm guessing it will be like the Hulk, where all the Autobots & Decepticons will be CGI and the only 'real' actors will be a couple of schmucks playing Spike and Sparkplug. (Who came up with those names, anyway?)

Unless it's REALLY low budget, and we get to see some guy walking around in a tin can suit pretending to be Megatron. Then they'd need a little person to play Bumblebee. My money would be on Gary Coleman. "Whatchu talkin' bout Optimus Prime?!"
2003-06-11 09:41:37 AM
Whoa...Robotech live action...that'd be wild. That, or a Mechwarrior-based movie would...scratch that...COULD be awesome. Of course it'd probably do as well as Akira did the first time around in the States. And of course, Mortal Kombat COULD have been a really badass movie, but they catered it to 10 year olds.
2003-06-11 09:42:12 AM
Has potential. Will need $$$$ to pull it off, but it could work.
2003-06-11 09:43:03 AM
ok, who's got a good nsfw "more than meets the eye" post?
2003-06-11 09:44:09 AM
Back to my previous comment...they can't base it on the old series, because Megatron transformed into a gun. And the purpose of the movie is to sell toys, thus we can't sell toys that turn into guns to kids, right (not unless its the 80s! Boy, we didn't know how good we had it pretending to shoot guns and all).
2003-06-11 09:44:17 AM
Wonder if they'll get Lion to do the theme song again.

or who can forget fan favorite:

"You got the touch!,
2003-06-11 09:44:25 AM
Methinks there's going to be a lot of CGI used in this one. I mean, really. Where would they even get the set pieces to build Unicron? And do you actually expect a big rig truck to flip up into Optimus Prime like dexterity isn't even a problem?

Hmm. yup. Definitely lots of CGI. The robots will be all glazed over and dithered, not like actual vehicles. As a matter of fact, they probably won't look a hell of a lot different than Beast Machines.
2003-06-11 09:44:48 AM
This movie must be matter the cost

2003-06-11 09:45:20 AM
For all of you naysaying art house snobs, its called a "Summer Movie". It doesn't have to be good (Hulk, Spider-Man, AOTC) in the classic sense, it just has to entertain.

3-D may not be ready for human features (Reloaded), but is definitely ready for autobots and decepticons. I'm looking forward to it.
2003-06-11 09:45:29 AM
Stupid? No way this is a great idea. I would go to see it. Although they would have to be careful about how they do the robots to make them seem real.

As for Robotech movies, that would be good too. But at the risk of sounding like a fan-boy I would rather see a live action syndicated series with hour long episodes that would rewrite and expand the cartoon series, which although I like it, it is dated and cheesy.
2003-06-11 09:47:50 AM
what? Nobody wants to put the fat guy in the Optimus Prime custom image up?
2003-06-11 09:48:23 AM
Anyone remember Robot Jox?

That movie was cool. Plot sucked, but....GIANT ROBOTS!!!

Stop-motion animation still 0WNZ0R5 over CGI. I'll take the Battle of Hoth over Kamino any day. And I'll take Harryhausen's clay monsters over the Mummy's dithered scaries, please.

Hollywood is out of ideas.... The Godfather II.
Hollywood is out of ideas.... The Empire Strikes Back.
Hollywood is out of ideas.... The Lord of the Rings.

Seriously overused cliche. Can't someone do an adaptation or a sequel without people whining about it not being original?
2003-06-11 09:50:30 AM
Stupid? Stupid? It is YOU who are stupid, my friend. I mean, it's not like they are making a Go-Bots movie, for fark's sake. I mean, who the hell wants to see Cy-Kill and Leader-One on the big screen? But the Transformers? They rule!

/still 12 years old, apparently

ooh ooh! Someone also post the image of that guy dressed up in an Autobot (I think it was Prowl) who could actually transform!
2003-06-11 09:52:25 AM
Well, I may not have seen it all yet, but I'm getting close with those cusomized dump trucks, Forsythe P. Jones. What the hell is that all about?
2003-06-11 09:53:17 AM
I am all for this. It'll suck ass, kinda like garbage pail kids the movie, but I'm one who enjoys a terrible flick. Anyway, this movie better have a total butt-rock soundtrack like the first.

Remember when Hot Rod opens the Matrix in Unicron's stomach and he turns into Rodimus Prime when they start jamming "You Got the Touch"? Well, that is the same song Dirk Diggler tries to sing in Boogie Nights. Coincidence ....?

I'm a star. I'm a bright, Shiny Star.
2003-06-11 09:54:05 AM
JoeQboo That would be great but can you imagine how much that series would cost to make. But Maybe som Exec from Sci-Fi is a farker and will give it a shot.
2003-06-11 09:56:44 AM
Does anyone know if there is a directors cut of the first animated movie out on DVD? Just Kidding

/seriously anyone?
2003-06-11 09:59:32 AM
By the eye of thundera, when will they finaly make a thunder cats movie!
2003-06-11 10:00:10 AM
DiabolikCan't someone do an adaptation or a sequel without people whining about it not being original?

It could depend on if the source material was a pile of crap to start with. As for "live-action," this has to be complete bollocks as most of it will be CGI. Robots in disguise? It wouldn't surprise me in the least to see the robots transform into a steaming pile of crap. Some disguise.
2003-06-11 10:00:31 AM
Let's just go ahead and make a Paranoia movie while we're at it...and Akira...and Thundercats...and....(insert favorite thing here)
