Hopefully he's doing the score too, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford and The Road had ridiculously good scores by him.

If only they would fully reboot that. I'll settle for rifftrax for now though.

Check out The Proposition written and scored by Mr. Cave. one of my favorite movies of all time.

Now look, I love MST3K as much as any geek, but it seems to me an entire movie (especially a reboot) just focused on Crow T Robot is doomed to suck.

Now, if they were doing a Manos sequel and they got Torgo on board... that would be a neckbeard of an entirely different flavor!

Maybe if it were a movie about Alternate Universe Crow who got stuck in Wisconsin doing Mike's temp job.

/That last scene always makes me smile for some reason

I was "meh" about Nick Cave 'till I saw him live a couple of years ago, whereupon he rocked my ass with the best live show I've ever been to. If you ever get the chance to see him perform, take it.

Finally a reboot I can get behind. The original was a masterpiece, but ultimately did not get the recognition it deserved. A reboot, especially one with competent people behind it, can only draw attention back to the source material once again.

"a masterpiece"? Really? Are you a 14 year-old Goth kid or are you just about to start telling us how cool Huey Lewis and the News were?

You're kidding right? They had Bruce Lee's son. Then the son died during the filming of it. That is publicity you can't buy with a stick.

And it still sucked. The star power and marketing potential couldn't make up for a lousy, boring, comic-book story.

A reboot is only going to make this more apparent.

I misread the headline to say "Nick Cage".

Then the second post mentioned something about him doing the score of a couple of movies and then I got really confused.

Loved the original one. Thought Brandon did a great job, but a reboot is a bad idea.

With all of this rebooting, you'd think Hollywood ran on Windows Vista

I don't even know who Huey Lewis and the News is...Are you really taking time out of your short life to attack someone on the internet for liking something you you do not?

So you didn't like The Crow. Big Deal. But you know what I would have done had you posted before me saying how much shiat it was? I would have shrugged my shoulders and went about my merry way. Because I'm not pretentious enough to feel the need to convince a random stranger on the internet that their opinion is terribly, terribly wrong.

Your reaction makes you sound more like a 14 year old.

FARK OFF! The movie does not need a reboot LEAVE IT ALONE! It was a good movie nothing was wrong with it.Reboot a crappy movie not a cult classic. (yes i was and still am a die hard fan of the original movie. not the crappy sequels or the gawd awful tv series though.) Whats next a reboot of Army of Darkness? How about reboot freaking Constantine and this time calling it HELLBLAZER and get a guy that actually looks like John Constantine!

Torgo is dead. The actor that played him killed himself not long after the movie was made.

You can't redo what was done. The Crow was a perfect mix of culture at the time. It landed right smack in the middle of a music scene that bred the genre and any attempt at 'rebooting' it is just going to die a horrible death.

Another reason you can't redo it, is because the original film is a product of masterwork in editing, partly due to Mr. Lee's untimely death. The production team literally picked up some shattered pieces and cobbled together some pottery from it. And as said before that pottery held special meaning because of the culture surrounding it at the time.

It just can't be done....

I find Goths tiresome, but liked the Crow. Your analysis is spot on.

can we get the twilight vampire guy to play the crow? and hire the same guy who set up the fx on the first movie to do this one?

2010-07-27 08:45:10 AM
The Crow was a product of the 90s. It was a shlocky cult flick that is fondly remembered because of the way it hit the cultural gestalt at the time. It's cheesy as anything. It also doesn't need a remake.

In fact, I'm so sick of remakes, I think I'm going on down to O'Malley's Bar, for I have a thirst. His daughter Siobhan pulls beers from dusk till dawn. Amongst the townsfolk she's a bit of a joke but she pulls the best beer in town.

I love The Crow and Nick Cave, but please, just let the franchise die.

/I'll probably see it anyway
//rent/dl at least...

2010-07-27 09:14:11 AM
Has anyone watched The Crow lately? That film did not age well. Outdated & silly. The culture it was written for has grown up & moved on.

A reboot might work, especially if it's closer to the original work. The James O'Barr comic was much more introspective & lyrical. Less about action & heroics, and more about loss & redemption.

2010-07-27 09:14:28 AM
So dumb.

Nick Cave? That sounds like a porn actor's name.

C'mon, death never goes out of style. Vampires and zombies agree.

2010-07-27 09:29:24 AM
It's not a remake they need.

They should either just pull it out as just another sequel, or do a movie to bring closure to the TV series.

I say, let him do his thing.

but will it have a decent soundtrack to fall back? The original movie did, but I'm sure will get stuck with Tokio Hotel and Paramore.

Good choice.
I'd still like to see Rob Zombie's version, though.

From the script: The Crow crawls over fifty good pussies just to get to one fat boy's asshole.

Get of My Lawn Moment:

1. The only parts of the "orginal" film worth a crap were the ones shot when BRandon Lee was alive, as the only elements of the comic that made on screen were because Lee fought for them. the rest was a RETARDED pile of recycled Vehoveian cliches.
2. FTFA: "An iconic musician rewriting the script to a dead musician? " Yeah, except the Character Eric wasn't a musician in the comic, that was just some bullshiat they added to the movie.
3. Read the orginal 5 issue story, or STFU emo poser.
4. What's sad is James O'Barr probably won't see a dime out of the reboot either, and will keep scrapping by couch surfing in D/FW.
