My favorite Bugs mannerism is when he would stand by idly, munching on a carrot, while the villain caused his own doom (e.g., Yosemite Sam digging through a cliff's edge looking for gold).

Bugs Bunny is so much more of a modern icon than Mickey Mouse it's not even funny.

I generally hate cartoons, but make an exception for Bugs (and the Road Runner). This exception applies only to the original version voiced by Mel Blanc. He was Bugs Bunny.

Pardon me, but could you help out a fellow Farker who's down on his luck?

Man, I used to love Bugs Bunny when I was younger. He was cool, but he wasn't as cool as the *MASTER*, Ralph Phillips.

As well as his former bosses Leon Schlessinger and Tex Avery.

And colleagues Bob Clampett, Friz Freleng and Art Davis.

Don't forget Michael Maltese for the scripts and Carl Stallings for the cool music.

I still think this was one of the greatest tributes anyone has ever done. I remember first seeing it when printed in Time magazine in '89 (I was in high School). Years later I finally got my own print as a b-day present from the then-gf (now wife).

The Chuck one was great as well, Fritz too. WB did great jobs all around on those tributes. However, they just didn't have the emotional punch the Mel Blanc one had.

So Bugs is public domain now?

smeag0l: PC killed the wabbit.

Ok, now it's true, the majority of cartoons today are so cravenly PC, they wouldn't know a good time if it was sitting on their face, but there's one thing that will always unite us and them. They're animated. They may not realize it yet. They've got the same raging hormones, the same self-destructive desire to get boldly trashed and wildly out of control. Look at the TV! That's not a protest! That is cry for help! They're begging us... Please have a party! Feed us Tabasco sauce! Get us tentacle raped! Aahhhhhh!

2010-07-27 09:42:26 AM
Space Jam sucked. But Bugs Bunny does not. Keepin on rockin', Bugs!

Most of the ones prior to 1945 are. The later ones Time Warner has the rights (after they were purchased back from Ted Turner).

BUGS: (Singing.) Grab a fence post, hold it tight,
Womp your partner with all your might.
Hit him in the shin, hit him in the head,
Hit him again, the critter ain't dead.
Wop him low and wop him high,
Stick your finger in his eye.
Pretty little rhythm, pretty little sound,
Bang your heads against the ground.

2010-07-27 09:51:15 AM
And don't forget, he did cut Florida loose.
