This one is curious. It was taken in the old cemetery up on the hill in Frankfort, KY, which is chock full of spectacular statues. This one, however, didn't even have an inscription. There may have been a small statue within the half dome shape at one time, but it is long gone. I really loved the way the light hit it. This one should pop bigger, and the detail is really worth it.

This was taken in old town Havana, Cuba--it's a statue of Cuban national hero José Marti, whom the Cubans credit with leading the fight for Cuban independence from Spain. The pigeon does not seem impressed, though.

(Sculpted) Column of Trajan in the Forum of Trajan, Rome. The continuous frieze around the shaft shows the Roman emperor Trajan's military campaigns in Dacia. The monument commemorates Trajan, his military prowess and may have housed his cinerary urn. It's an amazing sculptural feat and an invaluable record.

(2/2) Click to pop to Flickr. The Crazy Horse Monument and a 1/52nd scale model of what it's supposed to look like when it's done, as it stood in late August 2003. I'd love to see what kind of progress they've made in the last seven years.
