You gotta love PETA. Not only are their kooky, screw-ball zany antics highly amusing, but it give thousands of air-headed women something to do, and the illusion that what they think is actually relevant to Real Life. And by "women" I mean the men as well.

I just wanna go huntin'
Makes me feel so good
I just wanna go huntin'
Try and find me in the woods....

Extra Bonus Irony for the non-Total Farkers: the article directly above this one is about a leopard that ate a two-year-old girl, leaving just the skull and one hand.

PETA chicks could stand to learn to focus more of their talents, time, and efforts on the ever prevalent matters of monkey spanking and kitten killing. A simple realization that, if they sucked up a bit and/or offered a more widespread approach, they might succeed in providing relief for the underlying tensions that result in such behavior could result in a newfound and deeper appreciation of what they do.

/just trying to help PETA to get a grip on basic animal issues (ever so magnanamous, aren't I?)

PETA has become a parody of itself.
2003-05-27 08:41:55 PM
They seem to have lost all credibility.
2003-05-27 08:48:05 PM
I feel bad even making fun of them anymore. This is just sad.
2003-05-27 08:49:49 PM
Xtremehkr: They seem to have lost all credibility.

How could they lose something they never had in the first place?

There goes Clay Pigeon shooting.

Will nobody think about the CLAY PIGEONS!
2003-05-27 09:14:00 PM
wow, i never heard about this.

something tells me that the original peta design was too depressing anyway.
2003-05-27 09:15:48 PM
destroy them all
2003-05-27 09:16:09 PM
RTFA... they are complaining that the elephant wasn't displayed because it protests the circus. Not that the fiberglass beast is being treated poorly...

Move along.. nothing to see here..
2003-05-27 09:17:41 PM
not even the submitter read the article

As much as I dislike PETA, I have to point out that they aren't upset over the treatment of the elephant sculpture.

Rather, they're upset because they claim that the company that was supposed to display the sculpture delayed it because the circus was in town and they wished to avoid any controversy.
The company claims that they didn't do it for that reason, but rather that the arena they were placed in front of asked them to delay all the sculptures (not just PETA's) so as to avoid any problems the congestion from the circus would cause.

While the message on the sculpture has to do with animal rights, PETA's complaint has nothing to do with animal rights. Rather they feel that their message was being unjustly surpressed.

Now back to our regularly scheduled flame war...
2003-05-27 09:18:17 PM
They never fail to amuse me.
2003-05-27 09:18:49 PM
I look back to the days when PETA really stood for something.

2003-05-27 09:18:56 PM
Fiberglass life feeds on fiberglass life, just like TOOL says...

get used to it..
2003-05-27 09:20:04 PM

Not only did the submitter not read the article, I don't think the guy who wrote the article read it. (Getch'er mind around that one!) Or rather, someone changed the headline of the article to produce one that would cause the maximum shock (for lack of a better term) regardless of the actual content.

Back in my dark days of working at a CVS, I had one of those PETA folk get mad at me for using plastic bags, and it was so comical because I didn't give a damn and she was really get upset over it, and all the while her idiotic kids were running all over the place, and their names were Topaz,Mercury,And Krystal, she got mad when I tried to bag her crap in a plastic bag, and was all like, "Oh no, I don't use plastic bags"

So I was all like "So what, someone else is just gonna use em and kill the enviornment"

And she was like "well im trying to make a difference"

So I was like "I see its working....Sarcasm"

And she was like "Whatever"

So I asked her how she got here with 3 kids, she said she drove

So i said "stop driving your car and refrigerating the things you bought here and i might consider your looney ways. foolish hippy
2003-05-27 09:21:57 PM
It;s trendy to be a part of PETA and/or a vegan.. i guarantee over half of them farks will be out of it once something "cooler" comes along.
2003-05-27 09:23:16 PM
This is going to be fun. I can sense this.
2003-05-27 09:24:13 PM
the circus is bad, mmkay.
2003-05-27 09:24:35 PM

OR they could all get together in the desert and drink animal liberation punch made from only soy and syonide that animals don't need to survive and die waiting for the earth mother to reclaim their souls so they can be re-incarnated into a penguin or something stupid like that.

2003-05-27 09:27:21 PM
Waiting for someone to make the obligatory "PETA stands for People Eating Tasty Animals" bit.
2003-05-27 09:27:50 PM
Rwellor, I like TOOL, but they say a lot of strange things that make no friggin sense.

Back to PETA sucking!

2003-05-27 09:27:56 PM
what a waste of life. It's farkin' fibre glass, If they really wanted to do some thing good and honest they should try and save a real elephants not a fibre glass one, I hate it when people are so moronic.

And I'm thinking about getting Total Fark. so I might just be able to see those articles soon Doctechnical.

Dewar beat you to it by 18 seconds...
2003-05-27 09:29:28 PM
mmmmmmmmm........fiberglass elephant. ca-jown style. Goes great with a panda smoothie.
2003-05-27 09:29:38 PM
I gotta wonder, when they say PETA is upset, is it all the PETA members being upset, is it one or two PETA members being upset, or is it just the ArchpriestessoftheMoonandNatureSpirits being upset which in turn makes all the other PETA drones upset....
2003-05-27 09:29:47 PM
I farking hate PETA. Hypocritical jerk-offs. I suppose it gives them something to do until they drop out of their Arts degree, though.
2003-05-27 09:30:02 PM
Actually, I can somewhat understand the headline...perhaps it DOES indicate the group was upset that the elephant was not put on display? "Treatment" doesn't necessarily have to do with how something is handled (as in, whether or not it is knocked around or dinged up or whatever), but can also indicate how a situation is dealt with... so maybe the headline writer meant the treatment of the situation surrounding the elephant not being put on display... OH MY GOD I've gone cross-eyed!
2003-05-27 09:30:21 PM
Maaan.. most of the PETA chicks I know are hot!!

and PETA makes good bread too..
mmm bread
2003-05-27 09:30:46 PM
Those PETA asshats would just go away and fade into obscurity if the media would stop paying attention to their asinine whining.

I was wondering if anyone had any other meanings for the abreviation 'PETA'. If you do, please hurry up and post them so we can all enjoy such wonderful imaginations.
2003-05-27 09:35:26 PM
Ummmmm ok.
2003-05-27 09:36:13 PM

Im not sure whats supposed to be funnier, a demonstration of how stupid Americans cant read or something PETA did.
2003-05-27 09:38:16 PM
Pugsleythegreat is my hero. Hippies piss me off.
2003-05-27 09:38:21 PM
That's a bit NSFW... or at least stratling the line...

2003-05-27 09:42:37 PM
>a demonstration of how stupid Americans cant read

as opposed to those stupid foreigners that can't read?
2003-05-27 09:43:04 PM
Now they're worried about treatment of fiberglass animals? That's ok, I have too much fiberglass in my diet anyway.
2003-05-27 09:44:10 PM
This is a joke. Right?!
2003-05-27 09:45:21 PM
While it's fun to moan about PETA, let's not forget the true evil in this story... THE CIRCUS.

And I'm not just talking animal abuse and creepy clowns; they're Langley boys.
2003-05-27 09:45:23 PM
It's always a wonder, what with how irrelevant PETA is, that they always manage to make it into the news? Could it possibly be that a goodly number of news reporters secretly harbor sympathy for these losers and report on them every time one of Siegfried and Roy's white tigers has diarrhea?

Hey, Pugs, if it makes you feel any better there was an interview in Discover magazine some months ago with a 'garbage engineer' (or some such) who said that plastic bags were more environmentally friendly. He said they took up less space in landfills and that in landfill conditions paper bags don't decompose appreciably quicker than plastic anyway.
