What's even more awesome is to grab the 9MB .tiff from this page (new window) and scroll around.

/or if you're a DICK and have a 30" 2560x1600 monitor, barely scroll around

Please, it's a false-color image being passed off by scientists as the real thing. When is the media going to tell the truth about Big Astrophysics?

It doesn't actually look like that.

I don't know the owner of this photo album, nor are the photos his, but this is a pretty good collection of space pictures from a variety of sources. There are some incredible shuttle shots as well as hubble images.

Cake Hunter: HOLY SH*T UNIVERSE, I EFFING LOVE YOU

Well it doesn't love you. If you were anywhere in the vicinity of that nebula, in the frame of that photo, you would be almost instantly ripped apart or blown up by something or other in the most painful way imaginable.

Food for thought.

The fact that it's doing over THERE and not HERE is proof that it does love us.

Hubble's best image? So, are the artists who subjectively shoop these images together from dozens of black and white pics so they look like psychedelic paintings from the 60s actually on the hubble now? That's pretty impressive.

Shopped.

Visuals like this make me PISSED Freelancer didn't get a sequel. I would love to fly with that as a background with the Millenium Falcon mod.

/also reminds me of the background when Kenny of South Park is "cheesing" his way into the Heavy Metal universe for bewbage.

We all bottom for the Universal Domme in one way or another.

/or as Hemingway put it, "The world breaks everyone and afterward many are strong in the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially. If you are none of these you can be sure it will kill you too but there will be no special hurry."

I wonder if the Hubble could be shot into space like the Voyager probes. Then, 40 years from now, it could be turned back toward Earth to make a similar photo. That would be great.

Well, obviously these so-called NASA "scientists" won't release the real pictures because they don't want us to see that their pictures don't conform to the secular Big Bang theory, so they gussy the pictures up using "tricks" and "peer review" to make it look like the galaxies are older than they really are. It's a classic Al Gore tactic.

I love Hubble and know I am not the only one, but I do have a semi serious / semi not serious question:

If someone visited a Hubble thread and trolled about its being an overpriced piece of shiat, not worth the time and money it cost, etc, what do you think would be the most appropriate punishment, assuming we had physical custody of the offender?

2010-04-24 1:25:40 PM
Who cares if NASA takes a little Photoshopping liberty with the final product? You think all those Playboy centerfolds look that good IRL? Cellulite is a b*tch to cover up...just sayin.
