Former Minnesota girl here.
Love fish. Do NOT 'get' lutefisk.
But we have a cheer that we say when we're playing games. It must be said with a Norsky accent:
Lutefisk and lefsa
flatbread and snoose
We're agoina win and you're a goina loose

DoomsDayAardvark: Llois: DoomsDayAardvark:
O lutefisk, O lutefisk,
How fragrant your aroma!

O lutefisk, O lutefisk,
You put me in a coma.

You smell so strong! You look like glue.
You taste just like an overshoe.
But lutefisk, come Christmas Day,
I guess I'll eat you anyway.

/also had Nordic ancestors.
//Never ate lutefisk
///I've had Haggis, though.

OH man... yeah that about sums it up.

I don't know who wrote it, but I learned it from my mom many, many years ago.

HoratioGates: As cool looking as Savannah Cats are, I don't think they are a good idea. If one breeds with the local cat population you've just introduced a new predator into the environment, one that's a lot bigger and less tame than a traditional house cat.

Considering they cost upwards of $20K, one getting loose doesn't seem like a great danger...but I see your point!

This is Debby7813's from the previous page, that ICHC wouldn't give her the SHARE link for. The lower line, for those who didn't use the link to it & can't read it here, is "Outfoxes Rocking Chair".
ICHC NEVER gives me a SHARE link that I can use; therefore, I snatch with FastStone Capture (& sometimes the pic is too big for the available capture field) & re-size on tinypic.

It's been doing that for me lately too. Try clicking the photo when it's done being captioned. That should advance you to the pic that you can swipe the html from.

Well, this is always fun. And kinda cute. We just had a little thundershower move through here. Kay was trying to hide by my feet, so I picked him up (which wasn't easy, since he was essentially a terrified noodle velcroed to the carpet), put him in my lap and covered him with his blankie. He was trembling a bit for a few minutes. The storm has now passed, and he's asleep.

My dog, Charlie, just decided to go on a 10-minute indoor barking spree. It would have gone on longer, but my calico Catastrophe walked up and smacked the shiat out of him.

The cat in question, who is surprisingly well-read:

Can you stand one more "Dad-ism?" When one has eaten perhaps too much spicy food, one might "Shiat like a wounded mongoose."

Useful information, that. I was previously unaware of the physiological needs of injured Herpestidae.

/had to look up the Latin name
//learned that mongooses are in the same taxonomic sub-order as cats

They were brother and sister. I couldn't tell them apart without checking under the tail until they were nearly full grown. They were literally never apart. I didn't even know that there was such a thing as flame-point siamese until I took these guys in. BRILLIANT blue eyes, both. The photo doesn't quite show that.

This was the final straw before the shiat hit the fan. Catastrophe, Calamity, and Apostrophe went on an all-out kitty rampage against Kazoo. The two other dogs wisely stepped off to the sidelines.

Kazoo now knows the back of the couch is for cats only.

Derkins: So I finally get TF (thank you super-nice sponsor!), and I can't figure out how to find the Caturday thread early. Had to work all day today, so I missed the whole thread. Oh well, I should be able to figure it out by next Saturday. :) In the meantime, here's some random pictures of my kitties

Derkins: On Thursday eve (it's getting later and later) sign in to Total Fark, on the right side in the BLUE Box find the Greenlit link. Click on and the Caturday Thread should be queued up at the top. S

Hey guys,
I'm a long-term lurker, first time poster. Unfortunately, I am delurking to ask for help for my cat; its a loooong story but the essentials are as follows:
1. My wife and I brought our cat with us when we immigrated to the United States,
2. My wife kept custody of the cat when we separated (my new housing arrangement does not allow cats),
3. My wife died last year, but my wife's roommate agreed to retain custody of the cat,
4. With no prior warning, this week the roommate decided she no longer wants to care for the cat,
5. I have had to place the cat in temporary lodging at our vets' office until I can find a home for her, but I cannot afford to house her there beyond Tuesday 27th April,
6. The cat is a senior (15 - 18 years old), in good health (had an exam this week to confirm this), she is spayed and is current on all of her shots. She is a wonderful loving companion and thrives on attention and affection. We are located between Orlando and Daytona Beach.

What I hope to achieve with this post:
1. Find a loving foster or adoptive home,
2. Find a no-kill shelter where she will receive lots of attention and affection,
3. Receive ideas on how to achieve 1 or 2 above.

If you don't want to respond in the Caturday thread (and I certainly don't want to threadjack!), I've set up an email account specifically for any replies to this post - the address is:
caturday*replies[nospam-﹫-backwards]liamg*com

I am willing to drive almost anywhere in Florida to place the cat in a loving home, assuming my 13-year old car is up to the trip.

I'm willing to do whatever I can to resolve this issue, so PLEASE let me know if you can help in any way. Sorry for the long-ass post, but I'm reaching my wits end and dearly need to find an answer before either I crack up or the cat starts to despair of her situation and begins to shut down.

Thank you Caturdayers for your time, and I hope to hear from you soon.

Angolok.

oddmind: ferfer72: my calico Catastrophe
When I was in the Army, someone dumped this pair as 3-month olds on the Presidio where we were stationed. The two Specialists-4 Oddmind named them General Nuisance and Major Catastrophe.

I curse the crappy 1970's "Linen finish" paper and the fact the I lost the medium format negatives.

I did the best I could to smooth out the matte finish without causing the picture quality to deteriorate too much. Hope you like it!

I'm nowhere near Florida so I can't really help out but you may be able to find a rescue to take her here (pops). PAWS (Purrs and Whiskers Shelter) in Melbourne may be able to help. Here is their website (this also pops). You may have better luck with one of the rescues taking her in if you make a donation, either food, litter or monetary. Good luck! She is a beautiful cat!

Thank you Cooper for your suggestions. As you can probably imagine, I have called a number of local rescue organizations, and I'm sure that as a last resort I could find her a home with one of them. Your suggestion of making a donation is a great idea, and I had already committed myself to providing whatever ongoing financial assistance I can afford to whichever organization can provide her with a home.

I will continue to make phone calls, and pray for a positive solution. Again, thank you for your help - it is greatly appreciated.
