Without Freidel the US would not have gone as far as we did in WC2002. And Blackburn... they'd be a lot lower w/o him.

2003-04-28 10:35:36 PM
Oh, yeah..
Freidel rocks.
I almost forgot.
2003-04-28 11:17:26 PM
Yeah, he rocks.

But, he's no Oliver Khan.

Deutschland Fuball!!
2003-04-28 11:18:24 PM
Since the double s character didn't show up..

Deutschland Fussball!!
2003-04-29 12:38:03 AM
Guess he wasn't good enough to play any top American sports...

2003-04-29 12:55:41 AM
Yeah, yeah. Khan yadda yadda.

Talk about soft goals.
2003-04-29 04:59:29 AM

2003-04-29 05:02:39 AM
No van Nistelrooy in the premier league team? Sheesh.
2003-04-29 05:02:50 AM
Brad who???
Never heard of him, must be american propaganda.
2003-04-29 05:04:17 AM
van Nistelrooy isn't a goal keeper smarty pants.
2003-04-29 05:04:25 AM
......Says ESPN.... :rolleye

He is no way the best keeper in the english premiership :)
2003-04-29 05:06:18 AM
CheeseEatingBulldog I was referring to the whole 11-guy line-up thanyou goodbye o_O
2003-04-29 05:06:48 AM
Brad Fiedel, didn't he write the music sountrack for Terminator/2??? dom dom dom dom...yup. Terminator would be a good goalie, fer sure.
2003-04-29 05:07:11 AM
thank you is what I meant, damn typo.
2003-04-29 05:07:29 AM
I've got to agree with Koesj. How can they pick a team without Van the Man (a.k.a. Champion the Wonder Horse)?
2003-04-29 05:10:45 AM
The boy has a LONG way to go...

Peter Schmeichel is the best Goalkeeper I have ever
played with or against, and I am convinced
I will not come across his like again. He was
utterly magnificent in every respect. He pulled of
saves that other Goalkeepers,
many of the highest calibre as well, might only
dream about
Andy Cole

5 Premier Leagues
3 FA Cups
1 European Cup
1 European Super Cup
1 Worthington Cup
European Championship 1992

He's retiring so there is a place opening up for Brad.
2003-04-29 05:11:38 AM
What, no russian jokes?
2003-04-29 05:12:12 AM
I really liked his goal sunday, 200 career goals is something not every player will reach... and he did it at the age of what, 25? Anyway, looks like Fergie is looking into buying Niemi right now, smart move if you ask me.
2003-04-29 05:12:47 AM
Oh, so now you care about soccer.

Maybe all those self righteous, indulgent and important comments do have some merit.
2003-04-29 05:13:47 AM
"The 31-year-old from Bay Village, Ohio, has 15 shutouts this season for Rovers, seventh in the Premier League."

Damn, you americans just can't write about football. Whats a shutout when its at home?
2003-04-29 05:13:52 AM
Its only because he gets to use his hands. And yeah, Schmeichel is the world's greatest ever keeper.

Anyway, its a shiatty poll. Where's Rooney? ;)
2003-04-29 05:14:13 AM
During the last World Cup, my friends and I decided that Brad Friedel is the love child of John Malkovich and the stereotypical English hooligan.

And judging by the sheer number of Arsenal players on the team, it's no wonder I love playing with them in soccer video games.
2003-04-29 05:15:03 AM
In 50\/137 RU5514, balls kick people.
2003-04-29 05:17:05 AM
Rooney is too busy spitting on Liverpool supporters :-) (the kid's amazing!)
2003-04-29 05:17:13 AM
Top sport in America...

...Still not soccer.
2003-04-29 05:17:22 AM
Arsenal are scum, just behind Newcastle, Man U, Liverpool and Chelsea. If it wasn't for the fac that they play such a beautiful game I'd have them enslaved.
2003-04-29 05:17:32 AM
Olie Kahn - the best in Deutschland
David Seaman - currently, the best in the Premiership
Enough said.
2003-04-29 05:18:57 AM
arsenal can suck my balls
2003-04-29 05:20:10 AM
arsenal can suck my balls

Ah, such intelect (let me guess - Chelsea??)
2003-04-29 05:20:46 AM
David Seaman - currently, the best in the Premiership

Seaman's freakin' useless and needs a haircut. I think Friedal probably just about deserves the award.
2003-04-29 05:23:48 AM
Rooney is too busy spitting on Liverpool supporters :-)

Speculation, dear boy, sepculation. In fact he wasn't charged. He received a huge number of calls from Liverpool and Everton fans saying he behaved perfectly during the game and there was no video footage.

(the kid's amazing!)

Damn right. And, as he says himself, he will always play in a blue shirt. :) We just need to make sure he's protected. I don't want to see him burning out.
2003-04-29 05:24:10 AM
Koesj, luckily the team of the year is picked by fellow players, and not by Dutch armchair ManYoo fans.

Van Nistelrooij is not very popular with other professionals because he is a diver and arrogant with it.
2003-04-29 05:29:34 AM
David Seamen looks like a porn star. with a last name "Seamen" who wouldnt think he is one
2003-04-29 05:31:54 AM
Reminds me of the classic joke:

Why do Brazilians make the greatest lovers?
Cos they can lob Seaman from 30 yards.

Originally done with Spaniards instead, but then the joke is understood by a smaller audience.
2003-04-29 05:36:23 AM
LOL SidVacant
2003-04-29 05:38:05 AM
Michael Jackson has been sacked as the England schoolboy coach. He wanted to put Seaman in the under-16s.
2003-04-29 05:38:44 AM
Personally I think

Should have been

It's the trade balance thing...Europe sends place kickers for American football, America sends keepers for European football.

Yeah, Schmeichel greatest ever keeper... remember European championship 1992 in Sweden?

As for Rooney, I'm glad he didn't get it. I'm not being begrudging here (sorry grammar nazis) but he just doesn't have the same all round qualities and skills that a player like, say John O'Shea, has. Besides, Rooney will surely still qualify for young player of the year for another few years?
2003-04-29 05:43:00 AM
Peter Schmeichel is the best Goalkeeper I have ever
played with or against,

And who might ye be that hath played against and with Peter Schmeichel???

/up the avenue!
2003-04-29 05:45:35 AM
Radio_guy - Ouch_that_hurts was quoting Andy Cole. From before he transferred to Blackburn of course.
2003-04-29 05:49:33 AM
What are you an idiot? Don't know who Andy Cole is? I bet Dennis Law does
2003-04-29 05:49:52 AM
No, you're right Mickoc. :) As a good a season as Rooneyu has had he's not played enough to warrant young player of the year.
2003-04-29 05:53:10 AM
Holy shiat,..How about Gordon Banks from the 60's(and was on the world cup team for Eng. in '66)

Look if we are talking modern players, we can talk schmeichel, friedel or seaman...but there are so many great keepers throught history to say they are the best ever is just foolish..

/Up the Avenue!
2003-04-29 05:53:58 AM
Oh I thought you said you played against him, suppose I should read next time
2003-04-29 05:58:37 AM

You can't compare Andy Cole's achievement in Europe with Denis Law. Law did it in the days when it was a straight knock-out competition, not the league format they have these days.
2003-04-29 06:02:21 AM
I'm an Arsenal supporter but there's no way Seaman is #1 in the League. Friedel and Cudicinni are tops.

For any English people who don't know what a shutout is, it's American for a clean sheat.
2003-04-29 06:04:54 AM
How about Gordon Banks from the 60's

Er... how about NO! So over rated.
2003-04-29 06:18:56 AM
..and Seaman passes to Butt..what a deep one!

2003-04-29 06:41:35 AM
whats unfortunate is that most Americans don't know who Friedel is, or what team he plays for :<
