I wonder what kind of less-obvious retaliation the US government uses on people who exercise their rights in this manner.

This story makes me sikh.

In the backwards episode of Seinfeld the Indian parents told Elaine not to go to India because it was terrible place. I guess they weren't kidding.

America sucks in a lot of ways but I'm pretty thankful to be living here. Most places suck a lot more.

Yeah but dissidents are like girl babies. Nobody wants them anyway so it's not really murder.

Right?

I didn't know they had unions in India.

So this mob beat him with a metal rod for asking too many questions about corruption?

Sounds an awful lot like unions in the US. When you point out their misdeeds you often get bloody.

Exactly. Greedy, power-hungry scumbags are the same, regardless of whether there's a (D) or an (R) after their names. That's what things like the TSA watch and no-fly lists are REALLY used for.

You get used to it when working over there.

Things are really a mess. People in prison for there entire lives without trial, because the judge keeps dying of old age. Other guilty of murder in broad daylight never seeing the inside of a courtroom because it's so easy to tie things up for decades.

I should note, however, that the US has a treaty that will get you deported in most cases. So the odds of an American ending up in the system are slim.

For the not-wealthy population there is no justice, only a farce.

/you'd be amazed how many millionaires there are over there

You're comparing a man getting assaulted by a mob near his house to a secretary who was fired for speaking Spanish.

They tag you "Domestic Terrorist", wait a week, then send you to a Libyan prison. Everyone who knows you is slapped with a gag order. Break that gag order and you go to Libya and everyone you know gets a gag order.

It's called the "Liberty Freedom Eagles Rapture Your Ass With Liberty Act - 2007".

bonus points if you can come up with a semi-coherent and plausible acronym for that, ala USAPATRIOT

Well, some people just call it the Liberty Freedom Act cuz that's what it fixes. I've heard christian conservatives call it "The Rapture". They seem very excited about it.

The "Clean Air Act" fixes clean air. The Liberty Freedom Act fixes liberty and freedom.

A catchy acronym is always a plus, but not always practical.
