2003-04-24 5:10:15 PM
I was more concerned with what card he was than anything else. btw eight of clubs!
2003-04-24 5:10:33 PM
"The only card you need is the Eight of Spades!"
2003-04-24 5:10:45 PM

Is Baghdad Bob far behind?
2003-04-24 5:11:02 PM
MUUUUCH better headline......

Tariq Aziz captured. US can now claim to hold an inside straight in cards of death poker.
2003-04-24 5:11:04 PM
What is the best poker hand we can make with these guys thus far????? I'll take 4....*Shows Ace*.
2003-04-24 5:11:13 PM

2003-04-24 5:11:19 PM
2003-04-24 5:11:23 PM
I knew he was french all along!!
2003-04-24 5:11:25 PM
8 of spades still don't beat a full house. Err... something.
2003-04-24 5:11:53 PM
Iraqi Information Minister comes out of hiding to declare impending death on the invading infidels.
2003-04-24 5:11:57 PM
Lesse, so far we have the Queen of Diamonds, 6 of Hearts, 7 of Hearts, now the 8 of Spades (Tariq Aziz). Queen high only in my hand. I think I'll fold.
2003-04-24 5:12:05 PM
Was wondering if we were ever gonna see that guy again.
2003-04-24 5:12:06 PM
The regime obviously hasn't learned when hold em and when to fold em, when to walk away, when to run.....
2003-04-24 5:12:16 PM
too cool
2003-04-24 5:13:09 PM
Love our media "believed to be in talks wed." Nuthin' like responsible journalism to turn a frown upside down.
2003-04-24 5:13:24 PM
Go fish...
2003-04-24 5:13:36 PM
Lemmy's Ace of Spades will be flying off the shelves soon. I'm sure the networks have the tape all cued up and ready if/when Saddam is caught.
2003-04-24 5:13:44 PM
Wasn't he just a spokesman? What else did he do? Other than Baghdad Bob - this is the only guy I remember seeing on TV. Did he do anything?
2003-04-24 5:14:15 PM
Turn the other Sheik. Aziz is or Aziz ain't my baby?
2003-04-24 5:14:24 PM
Anybody know where you can get one of those Centcom Card Decks? I'd really like one for many reasons.

"The only card you need is the Eight of Spades!"

LMFAO. You know, for years, that's what he'd actually sing instead of "Ace," and no one noticed.
2003-04-24 5:14:37 PM
He lied to our president's dad! Get a rope.
2003-04-24 5:14:38 PM
I am surprised and pleased that we got one of the big guys. But I am totally shocked he surrendedered. I would not have expected that out of him.
2003-04-24 5:14:41 PM
Cool. Glad to hear it. Arched great idea for a headline.
2003-04-24 5:14:57 PM
I always hated that guy...
2003-04-24 5:15:16 PM
- looks like the inside straight is the highest. -

Troops strengthen U.S. hand in Iraq

Coalition forces in Iraq were holding two pair and working on a full house Monday when they nailed their highest card yet: Muhammad Hamza al-Zubaydi, who played a key role in the brutal suppression of the shiite Muslim uprising of 1991.
Al-Zubaydi is the queen of spades in the deck of cards the U.S. military is using to publicize the faces and names of fleeing Iraqi leaders. The deck initially seemed an odd but innovative way of publicizing the apprehension of war criminals.
Now were into it.
The queen of spades joins a hand brimming with possibilities:
Four of hearts: Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Human Abd al-Khaliq Abd al-Gafar, taken into custody Saturday.
Four of clubs: Bath Party chairman and militia commander Samir abd al Aziz al Najm, captured last Thursday.
Five of clubs: Barzan Ibrahim Hasan al Tikriti, Baath Party commander and Saddams half brother, taken into custody Wednesday.
Five of spades: Watban Ibrahim Hasan al Tikriti, another Baath Party commander and another of Saddams half brothers, taken into custody April 13.
Seven of diamonds: Amir Hamudi Hasan al-Sadi, a presidential scientific adviser, who surrendered April 12.
Nine of clubs: Jamal Sultan al-Tikriti, deputy chief of tribal affairs and Saddams son-in-law, who surrendered Saturday.
A gambler might try drawing to an inside straight by picking up eight-of-spades deputy prime minister Tariq Aziz or any of the presidential advisers who grace the six of any suit.
A club flush isnt out of the question.
No matter. Were betting on coalition troops, who seem to be holding all the cards.
2003-04-24 5:15:17 PM
So when are his memoires being published?
2003-04-24 5:15:28 PM
Because he turnd himself in, does that mean the U.S. will go easy on him, and only kill him once?

"Even now, our Deputy Prime Minister has infiltrated the ranks of the infidels and it is only a matter of time before he kills them all, completing the glorious victory for Iraq over the pathetic Americans!"
2003-04-24 5:17:16 PM
Yeah he better surrender.
2003-04-24 5:17:37 PM
BamaTide - i got to give credit to the Quad City Times for the idea.

Wherever the hell that is?
2003-04-24 5:17:38 PM

You can get them here.
2003-04-24 5:18:07 PM
Holy Shi'te! So is he liable to be tried for war crimes? And, if so, will we send him to the Hague or will we try him at some place of our choosing?
2003-04-24 5:19:49 PM
I always thought he looked like
Larry Tate from Bewitched.

2003-04-24 5:20:01 PM
looks alittle dark in here (no pun intended). or its just me?

If you like to gamble, I tell you I'm your man
You win some, lose some, all the same to me
The pleasure is to play, makes no difference what you say
I don't share your greed, the only card I need is
The 8 Of Spades

2003-04-24 5:20:07 PM
Folks, he didn't do anything wrong, he was merely playing along with the brutal regime to research a book he was writing on dictatorships..
2003-04-24 5:20:37 PM is selling the cards
2003-04-24 5:20:38 PM
Caknuck wins for the first and best Motorhead reference. You can all go home now.
2003-04-24 5:20:51 PM
Yeah, I noticed on NY1 (my main source for TV news) that whenever they talk about an Iraqi baddie, they show the playing card associated with him. What is that all about?

I've gotten about 40 pieces of spam since last week offering me a pack of "Iraq's Most Wanted" playing cards...
2003-04-24 5:21:00 PM
Yes, I'm aware the song is actually "The Ace of Spades"

2003-04-24 5:21:45 PM
No offense, but going off Arched's post, I would be going for the full house, fives over fours, rather than an inside straight. Tariq Aziz provides no help.

While fives and fours are low, full house is below only four of a kind and a straight flush in poker rankings.

I saw something on the news about one of these wanted guys using teachers to spot attractive kids so he could well, you know.

Truly messed up world.

There are no infidel Americans surrounding our glorious minister. Infidel Americans who, by the way, will all roast in the fires of hell.
2003-04-24 5:23:24 PM
Why not just print your own out?

deck of cards on the DOD site
2003-04-24 5:23:36 PM
Thanks everyone for the link. I'm happy now.
2003-04-24 5:23:56 PM
I loved his last press conference. The war was over, and yet, there he was, good little party flack, saying the Iraqis were winning.

I kept wating for phoxxy's husband to walk up behind him and do the "bunny ears" thing behind his head....
2003-04-24 5:24:46 PM

Truly messed up world.

How is that much different from what goes on in the U.S.?
Replace "wanted" with "frat", "teachers" with "pledges", and "kids" with "propsies" and you've got an average Saturday night on most college campuses.....

I've gotten about 40 pieces of spam since last week offering me a pack of "Iraq's Most Wanted" playing cards...

As did I. When I first heard about it, I though it was some small clever military thing and I wanted a set. Then I can't get away from the ads for them - so I decided I didn't want a set after all.
2003-04-24 5:25:43 PM
Why not just print your own out?

Because my printer is from the Jurassic Era. It is just a simple old Bubblejet thingy. I got a new computer for christmas, but the printer is still old. It's like a Cannon BJC 1000. It does color, but not photos.
