Oh boy time to book a flight on ( enter internet travel site here ). Bring the kids and the dog ... and the Kevlar vests, guns and ammo.

Gotta love the Laughlin River Run.
2003-04-20 10:46:55 PM
I wonder if the FBI will be there in their 3-piece leather suits.
2003-04-20 10:48:25 PM
This actually sounds fun. Drinking, warring biker gangs, gambling, and death...what more could a guy ask for?

Harleys are no longer really a symbol of the people they once were. Now they represent rich dentists and 67 year old guys with pony tails. After spending my summers delivering ice to the Sturgis rally (biggest in the world) I've discovered bikers are just a bunch of pansies now. It's ridiculous. The biker stereotype should be quietly laid to rest like the treasured memory it is.

man, i wish i could find a pic of ghengis khan from clone high. the show's kind of dumb, but his "screw tibet" shiat is a riot.
2003-04-20 11:01:10 PM
95% of the 'bikers' you see now are doctors and lawyers.

hell, the real bikers sure can't afford a new Harley any more.
2003-04-20 11:03:36 PM
I hate the fact that harley owners have to be dicks about owning one. I had a Kawasaki 750cc piece o' crap cruiser that I rode everywhere and those dicks were CONSTANTLY getting behind me and gunning their engine until I got out of their way. I thought about using my bike chain & lock on them on more than one occasion, but I didn't because, c'mon, one of those guys might be a lawyer!
2003-04-20 11:05:07 PM
Theyve got a bunch of po-lice here that ride around all slow like. Very funny, called the Blue Blazers or something.
Sheesh. Easy Rider it aint.
2003-04-20 11:07:35 PM
This was in the Globe? 99% of Globe readers don't know where Nevada is.
2003-04-20 11:19:36 PM
Thats because Nevada isnt real.

There was a biker bust in Ohio recently, and most of the people arrested were over 60 years old.

The 1%er's are from a different era. A time when butless leather chaps were not associated with homos and long hair was not associated with hippies.

I suspect they might go the same way as the Northern California Logger, the Gloucester Fisherman, and the DoDo Bird.

Damn Mongorians!
2003-04-20 11:30:05 PM
They had a big thing in one of the mens magazines that explained the whole thing last year. It was pretty cool to read about. it was part of a bigger piece about how all the other gangs are fighting the hell's angels for territory. Just so long as they shoot each other and not me.
2003-04-20 11:35:59 PM
What the hell do they actually fight over? Can't be biker babes 'cuz most of 'em need a forklift to get into the saddle, and street gangs control all the drugs nowadays.

On the East side,
that's where I met my Ramona,
"I wanna go to a party,"
that's what she said,
Lonely, that's what i've been,
here's my telephone number call me.

And to a party, a house party,
whole loop a people just rally 'round me
and love, she send a message of love

She said
"I love up the way you move, I love the way you rap"
bop, bop
Ramona please step back

Now she's my Ruca,
I'm barely waiting for my Heina.

She moved from Long Beach down to L.A.
Right now she selling oranges by the freeway.
I wanna know, Ramona am I the only one, tell me?
And she said, "Your not the only one, but your the best, Bradley"
bop, bop

And now I'm waiting for my Ruca
and I barely pulled up with my Heina.
I know tonight I'll be behind her
Don't fack around with my Heina.

those of you ripping on "bikers" and spouting comments about them all being old dentists, etc., are total fools. you know nothing about the culture and to lump everyone like that is a real good way to get your pussy asses kicked out your shiat talking mouths. id like to see you spend a evening in the place i was at on friday calling everyone a pansy. good farking night buddy. the "bikers" you seem to be sterotyping are commonly reffered to as "RUBS" had you known anything at all (rich urban bikers) and get no respect from real quote unquote "bikers". id like to suggest you keeping your insignificant insight into bikers off fark.

your a ice delivery man and your calling bikers as a whole pansies...yeah...i dont even need to point out your stupidity.

where are you from where street gangs control all the drugs. cuz i can tell you that where im from there is a list of drugs that are considered owned. no one else brings them in or sells big or they get put out, unless they are rivals and then its ongoing anyhow. controlled at the source. if somones selling big, its usually affiliated.

"thought about" using you bike chain and lock on them eh? bet ya didnt.

side notes - if you tow your hawg to sturgis on a trailer and then ride around, you are a rub. if you do your hair and get on your crotch rocket, you are a squid. if you've ever made your own part for your bike, congratulations, you qualify as a biker. in my mind at least.

i should stop drinking and farking
2003-04-21 07:10:23 AM
that is a real good way to get your pussy asses kicked out your shiat talking mouths.

Wow. Riding a bike is not joining Scientology. But there are some people who make poor decisions purchasing a bike and become deeply offended when their value system is challenged by a critical thinker.
2003-04-21 08:40:15 AM
Hey man, calm down. They don't understand the culture, and probably never will. Yeah, the rubs suck, but at least the bad taste in the mouth of the public towards bikers is beginning to get washed away.

The Hells Angels are the largest manufacturer and distributor of Methamphetamine in the US. They also control a large portion of the strip club abd prostitution trades.
2003-04-21 09:01:34 AM
Is it me, or does this article read exactly like a "Biker menance" story from the 60s? Do they just reprint the same story every few years?

Most of the people I've met who give me crap for not having a harley don't even have bikes! My honda may not be much of a bike, but it was the best I could afford, and it's better than no bike at all. Real bikers know that.

The yuppie bikers are out there, but as long as you spend most of your time out riding and not posing in front of trendy cafes you don't see that many of them!

2003-04-21 09:05:50 AM
About the name...do you think we could come up with something a little less blasphemous?
How bout the Christ-Punchers?
2003-04-21 11:22:35 AM
What the hell do they actually fight over? Can't be biker babes 'cuz most of 'em need a forklift to get into the saddle, and street gangs control all the drugs nowadays.

Crystal meth?
2003-04-21 12:23:15 PM
All I can say is yalll better throw some respect the way of the Hells Angels...no matter what they are fighting about. These are people you want on your side...trust me.
2003-04-21 12:51:59 PM
I'd rather have a platoon of Marines on my side.

But, I must admit, back in the 60s qhwn one of the members of the Oakland chapter lived down the block things were mighty peaceful in the neighborhood.

He never bothered anyone and didn't use his home as a hangout for the pack. Just his presence kept the riff raff away.
2003-04-21 01:22:58 PM
I used to live down the block from an Angels club house, and no one would dare fark with any bike parked on the street for blocks! I had a new Triumph and a Ducati parked on a city street in the east village, and they were almost as safe as if there were indoors.
2003-04-21 01:34:59 PM
Oh, you sure put me in my place. Yeah dick, it was part of the joke. Read it next time.

I bet you don't even own a motorcycle.
2003-04-21 01:50:05 PM
I'll be there... This will be my 7th year. We were next door to the shooting last year. No big thing.
2003-04-21 02:40:45 PM
I'll ride with any bike it is about the wind in the road, I am not a true biker I ride with enough to know. I bought a harley because that is what I have grown up dreaming of. There is no shame in whatever you ride my brother owned a GSXr and if he wasn't such a pansy (wah my legs hurt after riding that far) I would have loved to have had him ride with me. I can't make it to the River Run, but I'll be in Sturgis this year, I can't wait. My uncle tells me there are two types of bikers Some except few and some except all. I grew up with bikers the type that treat you like a brother cause you came with good people. Thats the only reference I ever needed.

To add to Digital_allied's contribution-
While every riding group has it's share of posers, drunken morons, crank / crack addicts, etc., the Mongols take 1st prize in the idiot ranks. While the HA folks are organizing Toys for Tots and AIDS program rides, the Mongols are out stealing bikes and gang-riding other riders off the road.

The HA guys here in northern CA rock. I took a dive while riding last summer, and the first person to stop and help get my sh*t together was HA.

My Dad lives near Daytona and has been riding since he was 14. I've been around bikes and bikers my whole life (I'm 29 now). Most were good, friendly and LOYAL people who never had a bad thing to say about anyone (accept Dr. Newmoney, Esquire and his shiny new Road King), but they wouldn't think twice about laying you out if you tried to mess with their friends.

Some of the HA guys are very hard-core, but they don't typically go out looking for trouble. All the strip clubs (and subsequent drug action) in Jacksonville, FL are controlled by The Outlaw Bikers and they are a little more rough-n-tumble.

Except for the rampant racism and omni-present Crank, most of the guys I've met (affiliated or not) have been cool until you fark with them.

Abby I know where you're talking about i think. It's on Macdougal I think? Well 8th street anyway. Right by Alphabet City?

Can't forget this link in a biker thread..
Bone Yard 13
Never had a problem with bikers (the real kind), always had a blast hanging out with them.
2003-04-21 05:49:03 PM
Abby, I lied, it was on St Mark's. Got my tat at Fun City Tatoo, which was right up the block.
