Welcome to Farktography!

This Week's Theme: "I Like it Anyways"

Description
: Photos that probably will not get many votes, but that you like anyways. Difficulty: No pets or family.

We ask that before submitting your photos you read and adhere to the following submission rules, including but not limited to the following:

- Submissions must be photographs; screen captures do not count as photographs.
- You must be the original photographer of your entry. Do not submit anyone else's photography as your own.
- You are only allowed to enter a photograph once. Do not submit the same photo to another contest later.
- You may enter 3 photos in each contest as long as each photo is of a different composition.
- Please post each photo separately so they can be voted for individually.

Ideally, your photograph should be presented as taken, with as little alteration as possible either digitally in-camera or in your image editor during post-processing. No selectively applied digital effects! No removal or addition of image elements, no spot treatments, and no HDR images, please.

With few exceptions (red-eye removal, sensor or scan dust removal), modifications to the original photograph must be made evenly across the image.
See the rules for more information on acceptable modifications, or check in at the Farktography Forums.

Legal: All photographers submitting photos to this contest are the legal copyright holders for the photos submitted and the photos are not to be considered free for any other use without written consent from the submitting photographers.

To have your photo website listed on the Farktography home page, please send your Fark username and url to admin(at)farktography.net and we'll get you up forthwith. (also, indicate if you're willing to share your photographs for use as source images in PhotoShop contests)

- Drop by the Farktography Forum (for chatting, critique, techtalk and so on)

- Image hosting sites can be found here.

- Stats can be found here.

"Why yes, the world *does* revolve around me."

This was straight out of camera, resizing and color correction only in Photoshop. Panning shot with the ride running backwards, I got this maybe 40 shots into the series.

Camp Kaleidoscope

Before photoshop was invented I was a member of the Brewster Society (new window) Named after the inventor of the kaleidoscope, Sir David Brewster.

One time I made this giant kaleidoscope using three wall mirrors 12" wide and 5' long. Fortunately when I took the protective edging off... the glass had been beveled to 30 degrees which made the edges all fit well together. I held it together using duct tape and had a lot of fun making pictures and videos with it. One time I wrapped cardboard around it attached it to some plywood put it on my roof rack and drove it from Chicago 146 miles to my favorite campground Black Hawk Ridge just the other side of the Wisconsin river from Sauk City WI.

At my campsite I mounted the kaleidoscope on a tripod and set up a Nikon FTN with a 24mm lens and kodachrome 64 on another tripod. After a lot of "beautiful views";) I took this picture you see. The bottom triangle is a view straight through the kaleidoscope. The tree trunk in the upper left corner was also not reflected but a view outside the kaleidoscope. There were some red flowers (bleeding hearts) right at the end of scope that reflected all around. There is also a fire ring with some logs my tent a bench and part of my mountain bike. This site is in what they called the pine woods and there is blue sky visible here and there. Good Times :)

/Kaleidoscope means beautiful view

I suspect many photographers would consider this picture too crowded to live, but it turned out exactly the way I wanted it to, not a bit of cropping. This is how you see things when you're at the fair. I don't know how other people will see this picture, but I love it.

Took this recently at a shrine with an old Canon film SLR. As I was focussing on the fortunes tied to the rope in the foreground, a Miko-san (shrine girl) walked past in the background. I snapped quickly, hoping I had focussed on the foreground, and was later pleased with the result, but when I showed it to the wife, her reaction was a big, fat "meh".

My favorite things to photograph are flowers. I don't know much about what they are, where they grow, how to take care of them, etc. I just think they make nice pictures. Just posting 2 tonight.

I happened to be at Honolulu International Airport one day, and caught this. The Boeing 717 of Hawaiian Airlines is landing on Runway 4R, the KC-135 of the USAF is apparently on final approach to Runway 8L. It was an incredibly lucky shot marred by the midday heat haze. (Large version here.)

Sticking to the actual THEME of this contest, I present a picture from a Dungeons & Dragons battle. Dungeons & Dragons is certainly something that many people do not like (especially some religious groups!), but, I like it anyways!
