Welcome to Farktography!

This Week's Theme: "ClusterFark"

Description
: Photos with so much going on it makes your head spin. The polar opposite of minimalism.

We ask that before submitting your photos you read and adhere to the following submission rules, including but not limited to the following:

- Submissions must be photographs; screen captures do not count as photographs.
- You must be the original photographer of your entry. Do not submit anyone else's photography as your own.
- You are only allowed to enter a photograph once. Do not submit the same photo to another contest later.
- You may enter 3 photos in each contest as long as each photo is of a different composition.
- Please post each photo separately so they can be voted for individually.

Ideally, your photograph should be presented as taken, with as little alteration as possible either digitally in-camera or in your image editor during post-processing. No selectively applied digital effects! No removal or addition of image elements, no spot treatments, and no HDR images, please.

With few exceptions (red-eye removal, sensor or scan dust removal), modifications to the original photograph must be made evenly across the image.
See the rules for more information on acceptable modifications, or check in at the Farktography Forums.

Legal: All photographers submitting photos to this contest are the legal copyright holders for the photos submitted and the photos are not to be considered free for any other use without written consent from the submitting photographers.

To have your photo website listed on the Farktography home page, please send your Fark username and url to admin(at)farktography.net and we'll get you up forthwith. (also, indicate if you're willing to share your photographs for use as source images in PhotoShop contests)

- Drop by the Farktography Forum (for chatting, critique, techtalk and so on)

- Image hosting sites can be found here.

- Stats can be found here.

The 2009 NYC Village Halloween Parade 1/3

What the hell is going on? The theme of the parade this year was "Here There Be Dragons" the blue cloth was supposed to be waves, and those carrying the cloth were to wave it up and down like waves on the oceans. Everyone wore blue and were given the most idiotic fish hats ^ (A few of you might recognize the Fine Fish Wearer in the pic) to wear so it would appear to that your head bobbing would be fish jumping out the ocean.

With ten -- or were there more of us? -- drinking beer, mimosas and screwdrivers on the way to go wine-tasting, the day was a recipe for a clusterfark...
Certainly this photograph was one.

SAFETY FIRST!

The black girl is one of my daughter's good friends. This past summer we took her to Mopsy's place in Michigan's U.P. for a couple week's of vacation. I did this photo as a joke to e-mail back to her mom. After taking it - and seeing it - I decided that I didn't know her mom's sense of humor that well and chose not to send it.

The 2009 NYC Village Halloween Parade 3/3

The Parade is a blast to shoot, from the topless girls being swabbed with body paint to the strange and wonderful characters that show up in amazing costumes. Here is the full set for those interested.(SOME NSFW PICS!)^ I marched in the Parade the last two years, but since I found how easy it is to get Press Credentials next year will be all shooting and no marching.

Framing is everything in photography. This picture of a cute little girl and a giant dog needs about a thousand fewer things in it.

Or was it a really bad picture of a bunch of grown men's stomachs?

This is Possum, from Eastern Kentucky. Beneath his pixellated exterior lies one large hunk of man meat, hair, and moobs. And his leather loin cloth he crafted himself with gen-u-wine turquoise and leather. He told me he wants to be famous on the intarwebs, though he doesn't own a computer and thinks the internet is entirely comprised of YouTube. I told him I'd gladly post his picture to teh internets, because he's really quite a nice (though furry) guy.

(Picture pops to unpixellated version, which is well worth the click for the full wtf value. Unpixellated version should be SFW (no naughty bits are showing), but lest someone be scadalized by his meaty moobs, I erred on the side of pixellating.)
