Welcome to Farktography!
This Week's Theme: "Roy G. Biv"

: Rainbows, opalescence, and other visual effects of diffraction.
We ask that before submitting your photos you read and adhere to the following submission rules, including but not limited to the following:
- Submissions must be photographs; screen captures do not count as photographs.

With few exceptions (red-eye removal, sensor or scan dust removal), modifications to the original photograph must be made evenly across the image.
See the rules for more information on acceptable modifications, or check in at the Farktography Forums.
Legal: All photographers submitting photos to this contest are the legal copyright holders for the photos submitted and the photos are not to be considered free for any other use without written consent from the submitting photographers.

Method Number 367 to make your neighbors think you're nuts:
Stand in their driveway with a prism to see if you can put a rainbow on their roses,
fail,
then take a picture of your own shadow with the prism and the rainbow.

I'd really appreciate it if you clicked on the pic because the 2000 x 593 version is pretty neat.

I was sitting in the grass about 2-3 feet away with my 16-35 opened up to 16 mm. Close enough to get hit with bubble soap a few times.

While out chasing rainbows last summer (literally), I ran across this gem out along the Amish Frontier...it wasn't until after I pulled the images up on my computer that I noticed the lightning bolt under the rainbow. Skill, equipment and a good eye will only get you so far - sometimes you just get lucky.

There's not really anything overly remarkable about this picture, technique-wise. However, this was taken at my cousin's wedding rehearsal this summer. Her dad passed away in 2005, and on the day he died, the day of his funeral, and other random days when we were having a particularly hard time with his passing, a rainbow would appear. It kind of became our thing - a way to bring us comfort (silly as it sounds). It was hard during the rehearsal, knowing he wasn't there, and someone had mentioned him right before this rainbow appeared. Luckily, I had my camera. This pic means a lot to me.

It's not silly at all. A good friend's little sister died from a congenital heart defect and a rainbow came out the day of her funeral back in 1999. Still means a lot to the family and friends.

Hippie!

continental_sausage: Double Rainbow - Jasper National Park. Bigger.

Man, I miss Jasper.

Indeed. I've gotten to go there a number of times in my life, but the sheer majesty of coming in through the East Gate never ceases to amaze me.

Dangerous neighborhood.
Are you a vampire?
Must be, guess it makes photography a little easier.

:) I think he's referring to the fact that there's no reflection of yourself in that bubble.

Oooooooohhhh. Heh. Yeah, that's pretty good.

I have a two-story house. Those striped things are siding on the upper level. Rectangle towards the middle is a sliding glass door. If I wasn't a vampire, you would see me right in the middle.
