Welcome to Farktography!
This Week's Theme: "Roy G. Biv"
: Rainbows, opalescence, and other visual effects of diffraction.
We ask that before submitting your photos you read and adhere to the following submission rules, including but not limited to the following:
- Submissions must be photographs; screen captures do not count as photographs.
- You must be the original photographer of your entry. Do not submit anyone else's photography as your own.

With few exceptions (red-eye removal, sensor or scan dust removal), modifications to the original photograph must be made evenly across the image.
See the rules for more information on acceptable modifications, or check in at the Farktography Forums.
Legal: All photographers submitting photos to this contest are the legal copyright holders for the photos submitted and the photos are not to be considered free for any other use without written consent from the submitting photographers.

Stand in their driveway with a prism to see if you can put a rainbow on their roses,
then take a picture of your own shadow with the prism and the rainbow. Full Size

I'd really appreciate it if you clicked on the pic because the 2000 x 593 version is pretty neat.

I was sitting in the grass about 2-3 feet away with my 16-35 opened up to 16 mm. Close enough to get hit with bubble soap a few times.

While out chasing rainbows last summer (literally), I ran across this gem out along the Amish wasn't until after I pulled the images up on my computer that I noticed the lightning bolt under the rainbow. Skill, equipment and a good eye will only get you so far - sometimes you just get lucky.

This is how the piece looks when lit by the setting sun through some horizontal skylights that are off to the side of it. I find it interesting how the colors are inverted from the different light sources and how it changes minute by minute, day by day.

There's not really anything overly remarkable about this picture, technique-wise. However, this was taken at my cousin's wedding rehearsal this summer. Her dad passed away in 2005, and on the day he died, the day of his funeral, and other random days when we were having a particularly hard time with his passing, a rainbow would appear. It kind of became our thing - a way to bring us comfort (silly as it sounds). It was hard during the rehearsal, knowing he wasn't there, and someone had mentioned him right before this rainbow appeared. Luckily, I had my camera. This pic means a lot to me.
