Let's be honest, there are probably a lot of men out there playing for the other team, literally. I'm not sure if an incorrect answer carries a penalty, but if they do there are people out there getting nothing but incorrect answers on the men's side. The type of person who'd try to sabotage the women's team isn't smart enough to do so. The type of person - man or woman - who'd try to sabotage the men's team, if nothing else, probably has some book learnin'.

Women are smart with trivia & such. They have better memory retention than men, able to recall obscure facts & details better.

...either that, or men are too busy with internet porn to be bothered with some lame trivia website.

2009-10-27 10:58:51 AM
Well there goes my day at work. Now this is a great time waster. History + Science & Nature are easy categories.

2009-10-27 11:01:45 AM
Since this is the internet, where all answers to any trivia questions are readily available, wouldn't this just mean that women are playing the game more than men, and therefore have answered more questions? Especially since the article said wrong answers don't affect the percentages?

Baldanders: I'm not sure if an incorrect answer carries a penalty, but if they do there are people out there getting nothing but incorrect answers on the men's side.

It says right in the article that'd it be a waste of time, because your team doesn't lose points for incorrect answers.

This isn't right.

we all know what we have to do. since i started playing 20 min ago we've made up 7000 points or so. I can only assume this is due to farkers waking up and seeing this. It will not stand. i give it 3 hrs until the guys are ahead.

Women, while the men are at work, are sitting here playing this game all day long. Sure, their feeble minds only allow them to answer 1 out of every 50 questions correctly, but those numbers add up when you are wasting your day in between making sandwiches.

Men, on the other hand, don't have time for such haberdashery, as we have mighty jobs and have a plateful of sandwiches to eat when we get home.

I used to beat my male roommates so badly at Trivial Pursuit that a new house rule was created, and I had to give the answer, and a plausible explanation where I learned the fact.

I've been on for about 15 minutes now, and the guys have put about 4,000 to the womens' 1,000, so I don't see this lasting long.

I'm wondering, just what does the scoring scheme look like? How is a wrong answer scored?

There's no way the game can take into account the competitive boy morons who are out there just answering questions for the thrill of it, and the girls who are selectively choosing questions based on the hint.

Ahem. Nevermind.

I'd like to see the breakdown of right vs. wrong vs. total questions. I mean if more women are playing then they will probably get more correct. And I know my mother and girlfriend waste an epic amount of time playing nothing but little online games like this while all my guy friends just play Xbox/PS3.

Wait a tick. I thought there were no girls on the internet.

at this point it seems the guys are getting 2 or 3 for every one the ladies get. Farkers at desk jobs/unemployed seem to be all over this. Plus, I seem to be pretty quick with a high accuracy rate, as I'm sure many of you would be too...We shall overcooommmeee

Who cares?

Despite the stupidity of the article, we already know that there are as many, if not more, women on the Internet. Their "experiment" is little more than a running advertisement playing on gender issues, attempting to push a product for which sales have dramatically dropped in recent years.

or maybe we as guys just don't really care about Trivial Pursuit. I certainly don't nor do I know anyone who does. Always seems to be the wives who want to break the game out too.

2009-10-27 12:17:10 PM
With all the new nettops and netbooks out there it's so much easier for women to play from the kitchen while the men are off earning money.

2009-10-27 12:18:19 PM
There are errors. I was just declared incorrect for selecting dolphins as the answer to "which animals travel in pods?"

error 303: With all the new nettops and netbooks out there it's so much easier for women to play from the kitchen while the men are off earning money, and reading fark while doing so.

FTFM at least.

Without knowing the gender demographics of the people playing, it's impossible to know what the current standings mean, if in fact they mean anything.

2009-10-27 12:21:00 PM
They also need to remove the goddamn astrology questions from the "science and nature" category.

Apparently one our senses is "tough" also. I didn't know that.

2009-10-27 12:22:19 PM
Don't women generally do better in language and memory games, and men in logic, math and visual cognition ones?

/Shouldn't be surprising.

2009-10-27 12:26:59 PM

Jeff73: There are errors. I was just declared incorrect for selecting dolphins as the answer to "which animals travel in pods?"

That is because dolphins is the incorrect plural of dolphin. The correct plural is actually dolpheen. The question would be right if it said "Dolpheen travel in pods."

Plus, how often do you need to buy Trivial Pursuit? One copy should last several years.

It's a well-known fact that most "women" on the internet are men.

I seem to be scoring quickly, but then i don't watch the little videos, i know my GF will watch every video after every answer, even if it's the 4th time it's repeated.

Postal Penguin: I'd like to see the breakdown of right vs. wrong vs. total questions. I mean if more women are playing then they will probably get more correct.

If it were +1 for a correct and -1 for an incorrect then it would be a better indicator of knowledge. Now it's just who clicks the damn thing the most.

Ok this just proves girls are a cornucopia of useless information.

2009-10-27 12:33:33 PM
They've got to be rigging this somehow. Not because I think there's some horrible conspiracy against men, but simply because "girls win" is a good way to get into the news - look at this very thread for example.

My wife kicks my arse at trivial pursuit regularly. It is an American version and all I get is damn questions about bloody baseball.
