/thanks Steve for the submission
2003-03-13 09:47:24 AM
where does it say who posted the article?
2003-03-13 09:51:01 AM
It doesn't. I was referring to the gajillion times the author of the article said, "Thank you Steve for the submission".
2003-03-13 09:53:57 AM
Funny? Guh.
2003-03-13 10:26:15 AM
I find it amusing that there actually is a "Microsoft Kitchen." I mean, sure Bill is really trying to take over the world and all but what's next, Microsoft Toilet Simulator?
2003-03-13 10:59:25 AM
I cannot make a comment at the moment as I am wrything on the floor in hysterical laughter.

Oh, no wait. No I'm not.
2003-03-13 11:16:17 AM
Nerd humor. *shudder*
2003-03-13 11:27:36 AM

JerseyTim Nerd humor. *shudder*

Hey now, I resent that. I'm a nerd and didn't find this even remotely amusing.

Cliff - And two of them are buried in France

" In SQL Server 7.0, the resulting message 1032 has an incorrect tablename."

I nearly peed my pants at that. That's even funnier than the ODBC control joke. Get it? ODBC? Tough crowd here.

I think the humor value in this page is that they THINK it's funny.
2003-03-13 11:30:03 AM
I only read the first dozen entries, where are the funny ones?
2003-03-13 11:31:00 AM
good to see the story of paul bunyan in their knowledgebase...interestingly there are no symptoms listed for it or explanations for why they put it there... :-/
2003-03-13 11:33:18 AM
Ah that would be on another site.

That was too easy.
2003-03-13 11:34:42 AM
those pop-ups were farking hilarious.

you owe me two minutes of life.
2003-03-13 11:35:03 AM
The only remotely funny quote on the page:

"The putt-putt shadow in world two above the teddy boom pod is wrong."

I don't know why, but that makes me laugh.
2003-03-13 11:36:07 AM
wow, that is good.

i especially like the one where it says "windows doesn't work" or something.

and that other one.
2003-03-13 11:36:21 AM
I've only ever seen one funny article from a tech support site (It may have been MS). Maybe someone could link to the "Any Key" error.
2003-03-13 11:36:29 AM
I don't really find any of it "amusing" or "funny"
does he mean, funny as in "HA-HA" or funny like a Clown?
2003-03-13 11:36:37 AM
One thing for sure. It WAS a huge list.
2003-03-13 11:36:48 AM
OMG! Microsoft's errors are sooooo funny that they should like make a show hosted by Bob Saget where he just puts them all up on like a video screen and judges could like vote for them.
Yeah, that would be just about as funny as America's Funniest Home Videos. Yup.
2003-03-13 11:37:01 AM
This is apparently a use of the the word funny that I was previously unaware of.

Here's a collection of computer humor directly from Microsoft. The links were accumulated from colleagues, Usenet and web searches, but mostly from "googlewhacking" the Knowledge Base. Enjoy! (Links open new browser windows.)

Jilly, you are an animal.

"Q175362: January 1 May Appear as February 1 in a Date "

AHHHH it's the end of the world. Planes will crash computers won't know what day it is!
The apocalypse is upon us!!!! RUN!

2003-03-13 11:39:46 AM
two funny ones i found.

"If a send request occurs that is less than one segment, Silly Window Syndrome (SWS) can occur."

"During normal operation or in Safe mode, your computer may play "Fur Elise" or "It's a Small, Small World" seemingly at random."
2003-03-13 11:39:47 AM

"...and the duck says 'You obviously didn't check the Microsoft Knowledge Base!"

I'm here all week. Don't forget to tip your waitress. Good night.

"Somebody get this freakin' duck away from me!"

/1,000,000,000,000 times funnier than anything on this list
2003-03-13 11:43:53 AM

who is that guy in the picture? I saw him on tv when I was in the states and he cracked me up.
2003-03-13 11:44:35 AM
ugh. Behold the power of fark.
2003-03-13 11:44:48 AM
This was funny as a Shakespearian comedy
2003-03-13 11:45:09 AM
Frasermoo- Jon Stewart
2003-03-13 11:45:52 AM
Thanks. Is he really funny or was it the drugs I was on?
2003-03-13 11:46:39 AM
2003-03-13 11:46:41 AM
2003-03-13 11:47:12 AM
Now this is funny:

"In some situations, this message may be generated when no bullets or numbers are visible in the paragraph."

Get it? There were no bullets, but it said some bullets may be affected. But there were no bullets.
2003-03-13 11:47:34 AM
some of them are kind of funny...or ironic, but you have to hunt for them. Others are just weird. but they are all fairly boring when compared to other forms of humor.
2003-03-13 11:48:09 AM
Just what I needed to further Boringify my day. Stupid.
2003-03-13 11:48:45 AM
Frasermoo, You may be on drugs, but Jon Stewart is still very funny.
2003-03-13 11:48:49 AM
Sometimes when I get an error screen, I but my boot through my screen, just like dragon kicking the neighbors kids when nobody is looking, it makes me feel better.

I'm thinking I should print that list off, and start reading it next time I'm out drinking with the boys, then I'll be popular.
2003-03-13 11:50:35 AM
He is really funny in a smart ass kind of way. He hosts a nightly show on Comedy Central called The Daily Show which is kind of like Saturday Night Live's Weekend Update except longer and on week nights and I think it is taped.

I want 5 minutes of my life back. That was so incredibly retarded.
2003-03-13 11:55:00 AM
There are some very very funny ones... you just have to hunt.
My favorites "If a send request occurs that is less than one segment, Silly Window Syndrome (SWS) can occur. To avoid SWS, the TCP/IP stack will hold the send for 5 seconds, or until there is enough data queued to send a full segment. "

Silly Window Syndrome?

"Microsoft Plus! For Kids includes a text-to-speech component called Talk It!, which will speak any word that is typed in, phonetically or otherwise, in several different speaking voices, styles, etc. Talk It! does not censor any word or combinations of words."

Who hasn't wasted time making Text-to-speech converters swear like a sailor?
2003-03-13 11:55:02 AM
Wow, this lame crap and the lame self-serving photoshop "contest". Me so glad me didn't pay rude bucks for Total Fark, me would want money back.
