PAX starts tomorrow and I know whoever is going is probably in town already. I'm meeting up with CntlAltDlt and his grandmother for a drink tonight and we are inviting whoever else would like to come along. Looking right now like the Tap House. The food is meh but there are 160 beers on tap. We are, of course, open to other suggestions close to the convention center.

Failed the written permit test when I was 15. My girlfriend at the time had a car, as did all my friends. Moved to Seattle at 17, was going to school and couldn't afford a car. Now I'm 25, still can't really afford a car, and don't have the motivation to learn.

Public transit is okay, the OneBusAway web app for my iPhone makes it much better.

Honestly, consider yourself lucky. Well not lucky since you're 25 and can't work a car... but it's nice to live somewhere that you don't have to.

I don't know if I could go without one almost specifically because I use my in-the-car time to practice singing. Without that time I don't know when/where I'd be able to really belt out in privacy without having a proper studio space.

Should go back and try getting that permit. I didn't get mine until I was 20. Not that I failed, but I never needed to use a car before I met my girlfriend. Sure, she could drive and had her own car, but I was determined to learn to drive and I'm too old fashioned to let her do so anymore (not that she can't, but she has the road rage).

/I never did understand how people fail the permit test.

Didn't study. I was working and making money and my parents said I had to have a B+ average to get a car. Studying wasn't high on my priority list at the time so I figured it was pretty much a moot point.

I wish I had one of those....My dad tried to teach me to drive at a local high school football stadium that was vacant at the time except the grounds crew.

I ran into a parked equipment trailer going about 5 mph
