Quick, subvert democracy before they can elect one of THEM!

2009-09-02 3:44:39 PM

AuntNotAnt: THEM!

a retarded creationist?

Look, I want Curt Schilling running my state about as much as I want John Kerry as a relief pitcher.

Curt's a nice guy and all, but dumb as a box of hair.

Won't work--the Republicans would never elect some right-wing dumbass to Congress just because he's an ex-jock. Oh, wait . . .

Probably true. I never met the man, but he made me very, very, very happy a few years ago.

Yeah? How did you like him the very next morning, when he went on the Today show and helped Sox fans celebrate their big historic win by telling the viewers to "Be sure to vote for Bush tomorrow!"--against the senator who represented his team's home state, no less.

No.

But I never LIKED Schilling like I did Wakefield, Trot Nixon, Varitek, Pedro or Nomar.

Schilling seemed like an attention whore, and the only attention whore I've ever been able to handle on my baseball team was Pedro Martinez. I love that little farker. Even Johnny Damon pissed me off (pre-Yankees) because...he was annoying.

Did Schilling piss me off? yes, yes 1000 times. But he doesn't believe we went to the moon, so he's not someone I take seriously.

It would be more fun if every election was hotly contested. Waiting four or five decades between competitive elections is boring.

He'll make a good little corporate-whoring sell out.

This. Oh, and IdiotMitter clearly misunderstands what the Hero Tag is supposed to represent.
Dumb as a stump, religious zealot, dickhead, arrogant AW blowhard former professional athlete does not qualify you to run for office.

Reluctant Curt Schilling mulls run for Senate

HAHA! Oh, I'm just a li'l ol' pitcher, I don't want nothing to do with Congress, but if the people want me, perhaps I'll reluctantly agree.

Looks like we'll be able to fill the post of "Retarded Ex-Pitcher of the Senate" after Jim Bunning retires after all.

He's my favorite candidate so far, not that that's saying much.

He has name recognition and a lot of money so his odds are good on that basis alone.

Jim Bunning was the speaker at my college graduation, so I'm really getting a kick out of these responses.

Is being a left-wing moonbat/empty suit from Chicago any better?

Being a professional athlete, even one who is likable, unlike Schilling, does not qualify one for Public Office.
For that matter, neither does being a son/grandson of a former President of the US.

True, but it doesn't disqualify you, either. (But I hate the idea of nepotism in politics.)

/Still waiting for Jay Buhner to run for governor.

Point taken.
There is a great post on nepotism in politics here. (pops)
Thank you for the rational exchange, before the liters get here. :)

bah. this was just a leak to gauge public reaction. If its positive, then he's more likely to run. If its negative, no harm no foul.

I want to see him have a campaign event where he introduces Sarah Palin to the stage to stump for him by pitching Trig into Palin's arms from 90 feet away.

"Ladies and gentlemen, please put your hands together for a very, very special guest."

[whoosh] Aaarrrrgggghhhhhh![thump]

"And that's strike three for science. Sarah Palin, everyone!"

he is the best chance the GOP has in boston. if a guy who got them the world series for the sox can't win, no one can.

What I would love to see is either Aaron Boone or Bucky Dent move to Massachusetts and run as a Democrat. This would be the ultimate liberal Masshole's conundrum.

Yeah...no.

Tim Wakefield could get away with this. Teddy Brusci could get away with this. No other Boston athlete could.

2009-09-02 9:17:58 PM
Ah, the irony of a statute created to keep Mitt Romney from appointing a Republican senator in the event of John Kerry winning the 2004 presidential election might lead to a Republican being elected.

2009-09-02 9:18:37 PM
IIRC, that was fake blood he used to add drama to the game. But dont tell that to any red sox fans or curt schilling himself. They're really dedicated to the lie...

Even if the Massachusetts GOP (all eight of them) resurrected Ted Kennedy and put him on the ticket as a Republican, he would lose.

A box of hair will win, but it will be a democratic box of hair.

He doesn't have the same appeal to voters that Brusci does. Sports fans, yes, but he's seen as more of a pretty boy and a super model knocker upper than a politician.

Schilling has about a 3% chance of winning in MA. Which is 3% higher than any other MA Republican and about 10% better than Romney's chances.

We may sometimes elect an R governor to counterbalance the D legislature, but if you think we're sending an R to the Senate you're wicked retahded.

Ha. Apparently he has forgotten that Republicans are opposed to celebrity candidates. They would obviously never support him.

I can find no better tribute to Ted Kennedy than providing the people of Massachusetts with a competent Senator.

I'm still laughing about John Kerry somehow "representing" the Red Sox. Next they'll say he played "bandit" in the World Series.

Schilling might be the anti-Christ. Remember the night the BoSoxs won the series there was a blood red full moon? It's a sign!

A Hero tag? A Hero tag. This guy isn't even a baseball hero, let alone a legitimate hero who would deserve an entire tag. What is he going to do... with a Hero tag?
