Once I went past a 'Bong Recreation Area' driving from Chicago to the Milwaulkee zoo. Probably the same guys...
2003-02-27 07:03:41 AM
Corporate_Ameritron any recreation area can be a bong recreation area if there's enough bushes for you and your buddies to have your session in privacy behind...
2003-02-27 07:04:24 AM
Watch out bong users Aschroft is coming!
2003-02-27 07:04:30 AM
Think I'll stay in Muff here in Ireland.
2003-02-27 07:10:56 AM
Yup. I was just about to mention Bong national park, somewhere in the midwest area. Ohio I think. Also around there is exit 420, Stoney Ridge Drive. If I lived in the area during high school I woulda taken many a drive down that road.
2003-02-27 07:19:04 AM
Ramsylvania -- Bong Recreation Area is in Kansasville, WI.

Besides, Corporate_Ameritron mentioned he saw it driving from Chicago to Milwaukee... kinda hard to go through Ohio on the way unless you take the scenic route. :)

Jesus christ, don't these people read their own farkin names?
2003-02-27 07:21:18 AM

Hey, don't forget about those two hotspots in Kentucky that I've mentioned in previous threads:

Big Bone Lick State Park: http://www.state.ky.us/agencies/parks/bigbone.htm

Beaver Lick (Trading Post, Christian Church, etc.)

Anyone find it amusing that there's a photo of people *diving* on the site? :-)

Speaking of renaming: Marietta, GA renamed the Dick Hunter Bridge to the Richard Hunter Bridge sometime in the past few months. Now what am I going to show to my yankee relatives when they come here?
2003-02-27 07:55:33 AM
I sorta stopped being intrested after "Idaho" was mentioned. They make potatoes. All I got to say to them is "biatch, make me a sammich!"
2003-02-27 08:13:47 AM
We also have a road in London called "Schyttbag Whore Lane", and a carpark entitled "Eric" by it's strange and fanciful owners.
2003-02-27 08:15:56 AM
I assumed it was Ohio because the friend who told me about it went to school in Cleveland and mentioned a weekend trip there. I shoulda realized from Ameritron's comments but I didnt.

This thread reminds me of 'Beavis and Butthead do America'.
2003-02-27 08:21:27 AM
Bever Dick? I don't get it. ohhhhh... I get it now... A bever named richard. Haha. that is kinda funny.
2003-02-27 08:27:23 AM
What's this, a hangout spot for transsexuals?
2003-02-27 08:40:33 AM
The best picture is the sign at the main entrance (bottom of the page). "Hey honey! Beaver Dick is just around the bend!"
2003-02-27 08:47:44 AM
Lookit those nut lickers diving into the pool.

I call for a caption contest! FWEE!
2003-02-27 08:48:48 AM
Ahh, Beaver Dick park, I am trying to convince the wife to go camping there this summer. I want to show her how nice Beaver Dick can be!
2003-02-27 08:59:31 AM
Richard Bong was America's leading fighter ace of all time. 40 kills in a P-38. He was from Wisconsin and died while test flying an early jet. Hence, they named the park in his memory.

But Beaver Dick Park??? WTF were they thinking??
2003-02-27 09:04:08 AM
If you read the page you'll see where the name comes from. Oh here, I'll read it to you: "It was named after "Beaver Dick," Richard Leigh, who was one of the last of the real mountain men of this valley."

Beaver Dick Park --- Where good things come together!
2003-02-27 09:39:42 AM
Anyone know WHY they call it that?
2003-02-27 09:49:54 AM
amusing . . . my grandfather, with the name of Dick Manley built 1/2 the real estate in Beaver Lake nebraska ...
2003-02-27 09:50:54 AM
First paragraph on the site says "It was named after "Beaver Dick," Richard Leigh, who was one of the last of the real mountain men of this valley."

sooo does that mean all the Mountain Men are gone now? oh good ... there wont be any random mountain-man attacks while I'm enjoying the scenery at Beaver Dick Park.

honestly... couldnt they have come up with a better name?
2003-02-27 09:53:33 AM
At the Yakima Training Center in Central Washington, there is a hill called Squaw Tit. The name explains its topological features.

"Heh, 'Beaver Dick'. Imagine getting saddled with a nickname like that. I mean, I rescued Ben when he was a cub, so 'Grizzly Adams' makes sense, but what did he do to the poor beaver?"

There's a small village called "bell end" near Birmingham (UK version) which gave me a few laughs while stuck in traffic on the M42 :) I think they have foul end, lickey end and green end in the same area...
2003-02-27 10:07:04 AM
I grew up in Idaho. I knew Beaver Dick. I served with Beaver Dick. You're no Beaver Dick.
2003-02-27 10:09:34 AM
Here in the Atlanta area, we also have Beaver Ruin Road.
2003-02-27 10:16:05 AM
See that picture of Maggie in a SbB tank top? It hit that with a beaver dick. And my dick too.
2003-02-27 10:34:55 AM
This is nowhere near Head-Smashed-In-Buffalo-Jump, Saskatchewan.
2003-02-27 10:35:39 AM
i»¿A large sign stands over the entrance of the Park.

I live in Idaho. When I find that sign, I'll submit it's photo for a photoshop contest. I swear.

"Once I went past a 'Bong Recreation Area' driving from Chicago to the Milwaulkee zoo. Probably the same guys..."

As a Wisconsin native, I am the proud owner of a "Bong Recreation Area--Wisconsin's Highest Point" T-shirt. I'm actually wearing it right now.
2003-02-27 10:42:15 AM
Dammit, Jbrad47128, you beat me to it. I didn't believe what I was seeing when I drove through KY and saw that. "Big Bone Lick State Park, near Beaver Lick KY." Hilarious.
2003-02-27 10:42:37 AM
And here's more on Richard Bong, the man it's named after...40 planes shot down in the Pacific during WWII:

We got a Wet Beaver Creek here in Arizona
2003-02-27 11:02:57 AM
To think I've lived 70 miles away from this park and never been there. And it's open year-round! I'm going today--it must be all of 20 degrees there.
2003-02-27 11:09:19 AM
Been there done that.

I prefer Toad Suck Park in Arkansas.

Big Beaver Road is in the Detroit area - Troy, or one of those suburbs.

So, what would have been wrong with "Richard Leigh Park"? Those Idaho folks must have a great sense of humor.
2003-02-27 11:25:27 AM
Theres a dyke ave near lake george NY

Yep, and that pic above is not a photoshop. Big Beaver Rd really is exit 69 on I-75 in MI. I think it's technically in Rochester, but don't quote me on that.
