It's not "quick pick" anyhow, it's "quick cash". They were scratch tickets. Quick pick is when you get random numbers for a lottery drawing. Do people even read stories before they post them anymore? Do people even read Fark before they post stories anymore? Is anyone reading this? Am I?

I never get any articles posted. I think I'm just going to yesterday's articles and repost a couple of them as my own. :)

I'm getting a slight feeling of Deja Vu..
2003-02-27 02:17:27 AM
No, actually that was a terribly interesting article and I'm glad I have the opportunity to read it twice.

Any of you Farkwads ever won anything with a scratch off ticket?
I've won $2 on about six different occasions. That's about it.

I find this incredibly hard to kill kittens to. Agian.

"The latest robbery was at a Texaco station on Eagles Landing Parkway about 4 p.m. Monday. A thief slipped into the store and snatched a batch of scratch-off tickets valued at more than $3,000."

Uh... I'm guessing that it costs the losttery about ten cents or less per ticket to print them.

Given that the tickets are worthless as soon as the lottery voids them, given that he stole around a thousand tickets, that means he stole a grand total of $100 worth of merchandise.

It pisses me off when law enforcement try to get around the constitution when it suits them. You know, the punishment has to fit the crime? The guy stole a bunch of worthless peices of cardboard. And I might as well also mention when police charge someone with six diffrent crimes when they really only actually commited ONE crime. Like for example if someone hits a car, they'll charge them with speeding, reckless endagerment, homicide, etc etc etc... Now even if it made sense and was contitutional to charge a guy with mutliple things, they should still be forced to have a SINGLE trial for all charges and not keep brigning the guy to trial on diffrent charges if they fail to get him the first time.

Needs the HERO tag. Kinda like the guy that burns down the crack house next door.

Robin Hood robbed from the rich and gave to the poor. Lotteries overwhelmingly take from the poor and give to nobody. A true tax on stupidity.

Andonbray I won another scratch off once

Yes actually. When I was younger there was a lottery place where people would just toss the tickets on the ground all around the place. Hundreds of tickets... Well one time I had the opportunity to look through some of them and I found a winning ticket for I think $2 and another for $10 I think.

And one christmas my parents gave my sister and I some of those $5 or $10 scratch tickets. Funny thing is that I was alseep and they told my sister not to open the stockings till morning, and that there was something we had to share in them. Well she opened them and scratched the tickets she got, and I came downstairs and scratched mine too not knowing we weren't supposed to scratch them, and she's like "Wow! I just won 25!" And then she keeps scartching and she's like "Oh my god! I just won $75!" And she keeps scratching and she's like "Oh my god oh my god! I won $150!" "I won $250 on this ticket!" So she's yelling and stuff and I'm scarthcing and I win like $5.

Then my parents come out all sleepy and they're like... "You know you've gotta split that... we told you before not to open those gifts..." And my sister starts crying and blawing and saying "No no no!" I never won anyhting before!! Nooooo! It's no fair!" And I'm over there smiling. :-)

I won $40 three or 4 times on the Texas Lottery Weekly Grand TM scratch off ticket.

I worked in a gas station the summer between HS and college and saw lots of people win. I don't know about other states, but Wisconsin always has a minimum of $25-50 winner in the first 50 tickets. Then after that it's pure luck. We had a guy who "was looking for the big winner then he'd quit" He's spend anywhere from $10-20 a day on lottery tickets. One day I sold him a $500 winner and never saw the man again.
2003-02-27 02:40:16 AM
man... not only did you get to sleep in, but you didn't even have to get that grimey silver stuff under your nails. i wish i had your life. ;)

This is getting as bad as slashdot :-)
Actually, it's better, becuase there is cooler crap here most of the time, not just technical stuff, love this site...

My grandmother won 20 grrr on a scratch-off once. Which sucks because she's used enough lottery luck for a couple generations by doing so. So I never do the scratch-offs unless cheap relatives give them as presents.

I wish the powerball would go over $100 mill again, I'm always good for $2 when it gets that high. Me losing the $2 is worth it for thinking what I would actually spend the money on.
2003-02-27 02:56:24 AM
The most I ever won was $40 on a scratch off...once.

I went to a bar right afterwards and spent it.

Anyone know the Texas lotto numbers that were drawn earlier tonight? If I won, I'll buy all of you Totalfark...

Well goddamn I hope the farker is a damn mathematician and cracked their number generating algorithm... I hope he farks them over good! Mwuahaha.. it would be about time... unless of course its been done before and no one knows it yet ;)

I feel sorry for him, he has to scratch all those tickets and even the winners are losers. Dumm

this was sad the first time it was posted

I'm pretty sure you can mess up the URL Checker by adding a ? or something at the end, although by time you might be able to try, they could fix it.

I am pretty sure i got it to work before
2003-02-27 03:12:28 AM
I had a scam/illegal activity when i was a teenager and worked at a gas station with the scratch offs. I've actually won quite a bit, the most being $500 on a single ticket
2003-02-27 03:15:08 AM
Stopped by the ATM on the way to the Houston Fark Meetup last September. There was $300 just sitting in the slot.

I was very generous to my fellow farkers that night.

A woman I work with won $50,000 on a $5 scratch off.
Nancy Kerrigan's Dad won 1 million on a scratch off in California.

2003-02-27 05:03:24 AM
Did the thief realize they have serial numbers this time?
2003-02-27 07:56:15 AM
I wouldn't want to be the guy sent in to haul away a man who can bear hug two vending machines, and carry them away in seconds.
2003-02-27 10:15:35 AM

FARK admins asleep at the wheel, again. There are enough repeats on FARK lite, why should anyone want repeat hell in TOTALFARK?
2003-02-27 10:29:21 AM
My brother-in-law tried to get me to print "winning" lotto tix years ago... he had the blank tix and ink, he wanted a program that would drive the dot matrix printer (remember those?). He was going to fark people with them. I never did it.
2003-02-27 11:55:15 AM
But... but.. I merely picked the numbers that my psychic told me to!

That and napalm....

Garanimal ....smells like The Viceroy.....or something....
2003-02-27 06:29:32 PM
This got past the repeat post error because its a different URL. I think the first one was from when the story was new to the page, then this one was from the archive of past news on the site.
2003-02-27 07:47:33 PM
You know, if you could figure out how to make a batch of the gray scratch stuff...
Well you'd get a job at the gas station, scratch a bunch of tickets, keep the winners, and paint the losers for resale. Wouldn't you? If you could?
