Yeah. Cancer is such a funny disease, too. It's a shame the admins greenlit a serious one.

He'll probably expectorate a big response from this.

And he should. Hope he feels better soon.

As an oral cancer survivor and a fan, he has my deepest sympathies.

He'll be happy to know you can function just fine with just one of four saliva glands. Which is good, because the bottled fake saliva is beyond disgusting.

WaltzingMathilda: You know, having a laugh at something serious won't kill the guy who has the cancer.

I know. I usually don't have a problem with trying to make fun of a serious situation. Cancer, however, hits a little too close to home.

This being said, mangling song lyrics to make them fit the situation is harmless fun compared to the usual vitriol of the cancer threads on the politics tab. Carry on.

/Because, you all needed my permission, obviously.

i can't believe that festival cost $300, but there are still a lot of artists on that list i'd want to see

It's strange. I'm sure you wrote this to be facetious, but if I read it as completely sincere, it makes more sense.

So it's okay to lampoon everyone else's problems, but yours are untouchable?

Dont worry too much folks. Im sure he will get the best treatment possible. Heres a little info to make fans of the Beastie Boys feel better.

Cancer of the parotid gland is a rare cancer and not detectable by any existing screening test. Several different types of cancer can occur in the parotid gland, and there is a wide range of potential treatments and outcomes depending on the type of cancer and the stage at which it is detected. The stage of salivary gland cancer is one of the most important factors in selecting treatment options and estimating a patient's outlook for recovery (prognosis). There is no known reason why people get parotid tumors. They are not associated with the typical head and neck cancer risk factors like smoking, alcohol, and HPV. These cancers are almost always found when the patient notices a lump in the jaw or cheek. Any change on the side of the mouth or face should be reported to one's physician and checked out.

I hope this helps. Its sounds like they found it early and his doctors are doing the best they can to make sure he has a full recovery form his treatment. At least he wasnt diagnosed with pancreatic cancer like Swayze.
