Figures. I drink 2-3 cups of Earl Grey tea per day at work.
2003-02-17 10:50:20 PM
Sitting on grass causes DNA damage?

2003-02-17 11:31:11 PM
Capt. Picard's going to be pissed. Besides, this guy's a crock, everybody knows smoking cigarettes is perfectly harmless.
2003-02-18 04:50:11 AM
I think this story is a sham. They managed to clone that Shinzon guy, didn't they?

But, heroin is still OK, isn't it?
2003-02-18 04:57:03 AM
Just imagine Capt Picard up there...my html has been burninated apparently.
2003-02-18 05:02:07 AM
Wonder if they'll start putting little Surgeon General warnings around parks...
2003-02-18 05:02:09 AM
so, are there things that cause reparable DNA damage?
2003-02-18 05:04:17 AM

aliens trying to take over the ship again!!!
2003-02-18 05:12:55 AM
Does he say 'time' as well. Must have missed that one.
2003-02-18 05:19:00 AM
Yeah, further down it says "Time, gravity cause irreparable TNA damage."

2003-02-18 05:19:08 AM
Gibraltar is farked.
2003-02-18 05:20:06 AM
Sitting on it doesn't work, either.

Tea! Earl Grey! Hot!
2003-02-18 05:21:06 AM
Or should that read:
Smoking grass, bathing in "Earl Grey" tea and sitting on the sun?
2003-02-18 05:31:35 AM
Teabagging is still safe though right?
2003-02-18 05:41:07 AM
Bloody hell. I don't know...if it was anything other than tea...
2003-02-18 05:56:06 AM
That might be more believable if they could spell "aging" correctly.
2003-02-18 06:06:06 AM
I guess maybe I shouldn't have this cuppa and joint before work this morning?

I wish I was lying.

Gryn - British spelling from a British newspaper. Imagine that :op
2003-02-18 06:42:18 AM
I will never undertsand this.

The DNA in a number of my cells will be damaged by tea, tobacco and blah.

Won't my body replace those cells with proper, good DNA filled cells? We're constantly killing off and creating new cells. Will my body somehow replace my good cells with clones of the damaged?

Am I sense making?!
2003-02-18 07:10:06 AM
That might be more believable if they could spell "aging" correctly.

"ageing" is the British spelling of "aging".

Kind of like how "bum" is the British spelling of "Ass".
2003-02-18 07:40:45 AM
The British using correct English spelling. Fancy that, too.

When will Americans learn to stop whining about different spelling and learn to accept that theirs are wrong?
2003-02-18 08:08:50 AM
Tom-Servo, the British spelling of "ass" is "arse".
2003-02-18 08:41:26 AM
DiamondThunderbolt: Tom-Servo, the British spelling of "ass" is "arse".

I know.

Okay... I guess I should have said:

Kind of like how "bum" is the British spelling of "Ass".

DiamondThunderbolt: Tom-Servo, the British spelling of "ass" is "arse".

Ohhhhhhhh Arrrrrrrrrrr... Gee Whiz.... It did not get posted above... don't worry about it... I'm going back to sleep now...
2003-02-18 08:46:25 AM

2003-02-18 08:52:01 AM

2003-02-18 09:29:44 AM
Then why do golfers live so long? Smoking cigars, out in the grass and sun all the time...

2003-02-18 09:29:59 AM
DiamondThunderbolt - Tom-Servo, the British spelling of "ass" is "arse".

Although currently the British spelling of "ass" is "Blair".

/weak satire

Who's Capt. Picard?
2003-02-18 09:59:14 AM
I should be safe drinking Earl Grey Green, right? The anti-oxidants ought to do battle with the carcinogens and protect me. This is a sad day for tea.
2003-02-18 11:48:47 AM
Early Grey? Nooooooo!

A sad day for tea indeed.
2003-02-18 12:09:30 PM
It's true!

is there anything that _doesn't_ cause DNA damage, or cancer, or stretch marks? hell, go live in a bubble and you'll find out in 20 years that the plastic the bubble is made of will make you impotent.
2003-02-18 12:59:17 PM
Well I'm screwed.
2003-02-18 01:06:20 PM
You could live like Howard Hughes did, all sequestered in a room away from the germs and bad things. But Howard Hughes died too.

Live. Be merry. And eat and drink what you want, but get some exercise. And you'll have a lot happier life than people who just eat carrots for lunch.
2003-02-18 02:14:51 PM
Figures. Earl Grey is my favorite. It couldn't be the nasty tea, now could it?

Oh well. I'm screwed anyway.
2003-02-18 02:39:55 PM
Everything causes cancer. Everything. The Surgeon General has determined that life is hazardous to your health.

Actually, the reason that everything causes cancer has to do with the way they test it. If you feed a rat five times its own body weight in broccoli every day, it will die. It doesn't matter if broccoli is the healthiest thing on the planet (or so Mum keeps telling me). That much of anything will cause cancer.

...<-- grains of salt. Take as many as needed with above post.
2003-02-18 04:45:19 PM
Well, the English are farked.
2003-02-18 04:53:02 PM
Well, except for that whole "sunshine" part.
2003-02-18 08:51:03 PM
Get in line, so will breathing.
2003-02-18 11:52:50 PM
Basically, I think the message here is: life will kill you.
2003-02-19 02:17:24 AM
Yeah, I could quit smoking.. But it takes a real man to face CANCER.
