2003-01-29 06:26:35 PM
Now what, exactly, are they going to do with it?
2003-01-29 06:26:47 PM
Hey, wasn't this already a Smokey and the Bandit sequel?

Where Would I Hide an Elephant?

Where would I hide an elephant,
if one should come my way?
Where would I hide an elephant,
in the bright, clear light of day?

I could hide him in the bath tub,
and close the shower door.
But I'd warn him not to take a bath
and flood the bathroom floor.

I could hide him in the bedroom,
beneath my brother's bed.
But I'd warn him not to trump his trunk
and not to lift his head.

I could hide him in the kitchen,
behind the kitchen sink.
But I'd warn him not to use his trunk
to try to sneak a drink.

I could hide him in the garden,
and warn him not to shout
when he climbed up to the fountain top
to be its water spout.

That's where I'd hide an elephant,
if one should come my way.
That's where I'd hide an elephant,
in the bright, clear light of day.

Stampy no!!!
2003-01-29 06:28:15 PM
What, are they hiding the elephant in a huge, verdant, open air reserve where it can roam wild and free?

Bunch of idiots. They'd better be shipping it back to Africa or something.
2003-01-29 06:28:37 PM
Fark Headline writers confusing easily confused farker with extra words?
2003-01-29 06:28:54 PM
They should donate it to another circus...nobody would think of looking there.
2003-01-29 06:29:16 PM
Um, what?
2003-01-29 06:30:04 PM
Paint its toenails pink and hide it in a strawberry patch.
2003-01-29 06:30:23 PM

Animal Rights activists baffling police in after going on the run with a circus elephant

At first glance I thought the sentence was in English, but now I'm not so sure
2003-01-29 06:31:23 PM
You're not the only one confused by it Nomad, you're not the only one.
2003-01-29 06:32:34 PM
*wipes forehead*
I thought I was the only one who was thoroughly confused by the headline. I was doubting my comprehension abilities.
2003-01-29 06:32:49 PM
They have the police baffled? Big deal. The mechanics of zippers baffle them.
2003-01-29 06:32:56 PM
Since when is knowledge of English grammar no longer a prerequisite for getting an article po$ted?

*applauds Nanookanano*

Maybe it's just me (usually is...), but is it that easy to:

a) steal an elephant
b) escape from the circus with said elephant, and
c) sucessfully hide the elephant from the authorities?

I mean, an elephant was a rather large animal last time I checked.
2003-01-29 06:35:02 PM

my brain is locking trying to parse that sentance
2003-01-29 06:35:43 PM
worse grammar headline ever. Asshat illiterate.
2003-01-29 06:36:22 PM
What they did was essentialy pointless. Why its even reported is a mystery as it is exactly the kind of thing these wackos do for attention. I am sure they are going to feed it well too right? hahah why would a circus starve the animal its in there best interest too keep it healthy. They are not cheap animals to aquire and im sure it draws more children to the circus.

The missing word in that headline is Germany. And it goes between in and after.

You guys gonna be OK now?
2003-01-29 06:43:22 PM
In Texas, elephant rustlin's a hangin' offense. That'll raise the year's total to five.

the reason you would starve a performing animal (much like an elephant) is if they're hungry they are more likely to respond to treats. as for the beatings, well, it probably works for a while and it's easier than nonviolently training the animal.
also: the circus, in general, is bad, mkay?
2003-01-29 07:02:36 PM
There has been no proof that any circus in existance today beats their elephants. That is unless you count a mysterious bloodspot that disappeared magically after a photo was taken by an animal rights group.
2003-01-29 07:02:48 PM
see... those activists are stupid. They should have baffling police in AFTER going on the run. Not in before! duh!
2003-01-29 07:05:51 PM
Me thinks the nuke should have been dropped somewhere else 60 years ago...
2003-01-29 07:06:09 PM
2003-01-29 07:07:36 PM
I saw a dude a couple of years ago screaming at some elephants and hitting 'em with a hose. I don't know if that qualifies as a beating, but the guy was pretty pissed off.

Personally, I think abuse happens pretty often. Combine low paid carnie types and stubborn animals and there's a recipe for violence.
2003-01-29 07:14:04 PM
Fookin' cahnies. Shaghdy boonch, them coonts. Ah fookin 'ate tha lah-uv-um.

I wonder what Strong Bad would have to say about that headline.

I don't know. Perhaps you can access the 50% operational Homestarunner site and possibly find out.
2003-01-29 08:37:44 PM
OH Christ! Not the Germans!

*don't mention the war! I mentioned it once, but I think I got away with it.*

2003-01-29 08:45:54 PM

2003-01-29 09:41:51 PM
I'm sure that elephant is doing much better now, locked in a u-haul being zipped around the country and living off grocery store peanuts right?
