A WHOLE WEEKEND?!

WHO THE HELL DOESN'T WORK WEEKENDS ANYMORE?!

2009-02-15 11:10:23 AM
Is this the same weekend that subby was screaming wasn't enough time to read the bill ?

yeah, I thought so.

2009-02-15 11:18:46 AM
I really dont think congress should have to read bills before they sign them. If its an emergency then they should just pass that shiat as fast as they can. Thats how the USA PATRIOT ACT got through and we never had any problems with that.

/The stimulus bill is insane.
//Wait and see....

2009-02-15 11:39:00 AM
Wow, submitter, there's less stretch in the average Farkette's knicker elastic than in that headline.

The couple will be flying with an exclusive charter company, which cannot be named for security reasons, in an Airbus A319.

If only there were some way to determine the operator from the registration, clearly visible in the Mail's pics...

I didn't see Obama in the article...

Hung Like A Tic-Tac: I didn't see Obama in the article...

Dammit! He's supposed to be EVERYWHERE! ALL THE TIME!

I'm sure Bush was, and with never a day off, either ;)

2009-02-15 12:09:46 PM
A weekend? Bush declared war on Sept 20, 2001, then went on vacation for a month, the very next day.

2009-02-15 12:19:18 PM
One week ago: "Wahhhhhhhhhh...Obama should sign this bill!"

Today: "Wahhhhhhhhhhh...Obama's not signing the bill soon enough."

Tomorrow: "Wahhhhhhhhhh...*fill in blank*

2009-02-15 12:20:59 PM
That should read "Obama shouldn't sign this bill."

Wahhhhhhhhhh...

2009-02-15 12:47:00 PM
Didn't he say he'd wait five days before signing any important legislation so the public could comment on it? So waiting a few days is what he always said he'd do, right? The fact that he was breaking this promise was Friday's 'change we can believe in'"

2009-02-15 12:47:07 PM
Put the catastrophe on hold?

2009-02-15 12:53:36 PM
How many vacation days did Bush take?

2009-02-15 12:54:18 PM
When Obama's vacation day count starts to get anywhere near Bush's, I'll start to care.

/now, watch this drive.

2009-02-15 12:56:57 PM
You know, if he signed the bill as soon as it was passed, this submitter would be biatching about not having enough time for public discussion like with the equal-pay bill.

2009-02-15 12:57:14 PM
Us Federal employees don't work tomorrow. He'd be a damn fool to sign something into law that we're not gonna come in and work on implementing!

2009-02-15 12:57:17 PM
Which one is it, wingnuts: that the legislation passed too quickly, or that Obama is taking too long to sign it?

You guys simply can't get your stories straight, can you? No wonder why you have become completely irrelevant in national American politics.

2009-02-15 12:57:18 PM
I'm actually going to give Prince Charles a little credit for only flying an Airbus A319.

Most heads of state have 747's.

TommyymmoT: A weekend? Bush declared war on Sept 20, 2001, then went on vacation for a month, the very next day.

But..but...Bush.

/I thought Obama was supposed to be different. By your own words, you are implying he is just W part 2.

Exactly, if he didnt take the weekend off, he'd be hurrying the bill through before citizens had a chance to read it. And you can bet this same person would be whining to hell about that.

Fark letting garbage like this through 10x a day is getting really old. They are constantly trolling their users, and eventually its just going to get old.

Prince Charles gives off greenhouse gases, carbon, news at 11.

Does anyone here think that they media needs some sort of reform?

2009-02-15 1:02:50 PM
Yeah, not so much. Because if there's one thing leaders are absolutely not allowed to do, it's to take time off like the rest of us. Now if the nation suffered as a direct result, you'd have yourself a story worth snarking over.

Look, give Obama some time to really screw up. Don't worry...he's human and prone to error. The one positive thing I'll take from that event is no longer having to watch assclowns streeeeeeetch for a criticism, as it'll be presented on a platter.

2009-02-15 1:04:15 PM
LOL at people bringing up Bush. Nice tu quoque fallacies!

Or, how about this libtard, on a bill of this size, there should have been more than 18 hours for lawmakers to read the bill, event the PROMISED 48 hours would not have been enough, but would have been better. Instead the American people are bombarded with the need to pass THIS bill NOW, NOW, NOW, which of course was bull shiat and while I would be perfectly happy if Obama didn't sign the bill (would still become law in 10 days), taking off for the weekend send "conflicting messages." I personally don't care that he took the family back to Chicago, I think it's cute, but next time something is "so urgent" at least try to follow through with the facade.

This. But, if Drew didn't want it to happen, it wouldn't happen. Other websites strongly enforce their policies, but don't have nearly the page views. That's all I've got to say about that, draw your own conclusions.

The promise for a few days of public discussion was an Obama thing, not a congress or lawmaker thing.

Don't blame congress for a promise that Obama made (and is seemingly keeping).

Pshh, small timer, Dubya would've taken the month off.

I don't see why everyone is complaining about the headline. I mean, it's obvious that most of the intelligent discussion on Fark (or anywhere for that matter) leans to the left, so blatantly moronic, right-wing trolling headlines like this are necessary in order to drive posts, clicks, and outrage -- therefore generating revenue from advertisements. If you don't like it, well, vote with your five dollars.

I like the fact that he's signing it on President's Day.

That's chutzpa.

Also, Charlie isn't Head of State... yet.

Bukkdog, get your facts straight. Congress promised 48 hours public discussion and Obama campaigned on a five day waiting period for public discussion, both promises seemingly don't count on THIS issue. As I said in my previous post, I don't have a problem with Obama taking the weekend, but if he could wait until Monday, he sure as hell could wait until Weds and live up to a promise he made.

Grey Cat,

Here is a link referencing the resolution passed on February 10th in the House of Reps (every Republican and Democrat voted for this resolution).

He needs to rest up before he ruins America.

Even though I'm in favor of the bill, it is funny that it was so important that it needed to be passed without thinking but then waits 3 days to sign it.

Problem: Article is about green hypocrisy and the frothers don't care enough about that... especially from England

Solution: Throw some Obama and Change in the headline

Result: Greenlight! Frothing ensues...

No matter what Obama does, he will get criticized for it. He can't win with you people.

If he signs it too quickly, he's not leaving the bill open to public inspection.

If he waits 3 days to sign it, he's not moving quickly enough.

I suppose if he waited a day and a half both groups would start b*tching?

I don't dispute this, the Senate could have taken up the vote before the HOR and their little p.r. stunt could have been followed through with. Instead they drop the bill in the laps of members at around 11 pm and open the house for votes at 9 am... not cool.
