Well, he's right. Junkies are loyal to the drug, not the dealer.

Try img1.fark.net

He's 100% right. If he lied about the purity of the dope, or if he knew it was cut with dangerous shiat, that's different.

/not condoning the guy's profession, but Sid wasn't going to say "Oh, fresh out, are you, then? I'll just have a spot of tea instead."

Count me in to the "What the fark did you expect?" contingent. Sid was a junkie. He'd get his fix.

Right? I call him 'exemplary.' What the world needs now is more honest, pathological heroin dealers.

Of course, Sid wouldn't have been able to find another dealer.

Yeah, NYC in the 70s? Where the hell would Sid have found another dealer?

hard to disagree but what's with the Sid vicious revival? First there's this alan parker documentary, now this one? If you're going to make a doc, at least make it on Rotten for a change, the interesting one

If Sid Vicious hadn't met such a newsworthy end, he would only be remembered as a mediocre, self important bassist and would probably be on the Surreal Life or Celebrity Rehab.

There. I said it. Let the hate commence!

The hate? Your comment deserves a DUH tag (no offense)

Dude...no one will agree with you more than a Sex Pistols fan. "Mediocre" is - BY FAR - the most genrous description of "Sid" I have ever heard!

Glen Matlock had talent...Sid Vicious had image. McLaren took image over talent because he's a fkn wanker.

"Sid" was a no talent loser. I feel sorry for the guy because he was so young, and everyone that young deserves more chances, but i have never met a Pistols fan that didn't despise the guy.

Yep, I second all of that. I don't despise him but when he joined that band, as Steve Jones puts it: "it was the beginning of the end"

Sid's mum's story has always been that she bought the drugs.

And he took the overdose on purpose, because of the guilt and the fact that he knew he was going to spent 25 to life in Auburn.

And he was a stupid, talentless creep who believed his own press, which he used to get BEFORE he was a sex pistol, for being an asshole scenemaker and cracking Nick Kent. But he was also a pathetic simpleton who's image was exploited by McLaren as he drove the band to it's situationist doom.

Agreed. Where is the Tommy Bolin or Jaco documentaries?

And: Sid couldnt play ANY instrument, let alone bass.

No one. On a lot of their gigs, they turned the bass all the way down.

Because, apparently, Sid would often be playing the wrong song. He's the quintessential example of style over substance.

Who played bass?

Glenn Matlock played bass for the Pistols while they made their name and on any early recordings you hear
Steve Jones played bass on "Nevermind the Bollocks..." after Matlock got kicked out

The Dynamite Monkey: Sid's mum's story has always been that she bought the drugs.

That's what I thought. Technically his mother was the dealer. She bought enough drugs for a whole party of people and Sid just decided to do most of them...

I don't get the sappy love affair with him though. I find thier music ok but that doesn't cover the fact that he was most likely a murderer.

Glen Matlock, the original Pistols bass player played on "Never Mind the Bollocks"- however, by this point he had been kicked out of the band. I can't remember why Sid couldn't play, but they ended up getting Glen to play on the album.

And I always heard that his mom was the one who gave him the drugs.

howdyyall9999: She bought enough drugs for a whole party of people and Sid just decided to do most of them...

Yes, and it was quite likely an intentional suicide.

Polly Styrene: I can't remember why Sid couldn't play,

No reason other than he couldn't play at all, ever. And forgive me if you are the actual Poly Sytene, because then you would know, but since she spelled it with one L I am assuming you are a different one.

Polly Styrene: but they ended up getting Glen to play on the album.

Glen says in his book he got the check but never showed for the sessions. And the insinuations are that he actually left, rather than been fired, over money, and that this was his was of getting back at Malcolm.

yeah, if I remember properly, Steve Jones ended up doing them , ultimately. What I remember is that Sid plays on one track "Holidays in the sun" and apparently you have to strain really hard to hear it because its been overdudded many times over

got this info from those classic album DVD series, where they take a classic album and interview just about everybody related to it. Its a great watch

I think that the drug dealer should be put to death. When the world lost Sid Vicious, they lost the most talented punk rock drummer the world has ever seen. His chord progressions and technique changed the world of music forever.

NYZooMan: You're not 'punk' once more than ten people know who you are.

I know you're joking, but there was someone over in the Green Day thread who said exactly the same thing. Apparently when you play in a genre that appeals to millions of people, you aren't supposed to be so good that you appeal to millions of people.

The most amazing thing about this story is that 30 yrs. later someone knew where to find Sid's drug dealer.I wanna know what he's been up to all these years.Yea,Sid couldn't play,we've known that forever, however the guy who sold him the dope that killed him 30 yrs.ago is granting interviews.Am I the only person that's fascinated by this?

From a wikipedia article about Rockets Redglare (Mike Morra):

In the late 1970s, Morra spent most of his time in the East Village, where he "became a permanent fixture in the punk and porno film scenes".[1] Morra worked as bouncer at the East Village "Red Bar", as a roadie for a band called the Hassles (with a young Billy Joel), and acted as a bodyguard and drug supplier to punk rock bassist Sid Vicious and artist-musician Jean Michel Basquiat. The night Sid Vicious allegedly killed his girlfriend Nancy Spungen, Morra had delivered 40 capsules of Dilaudid to the couple's room at the Chelsea Hotel. Hotel. In his book, Pretty Vacant: A History of Punk, Phil Strongman states that he believes Redglare was Nancy Spungen's killer.

This has nothing to do with Sid's death but is interesting.

Um...so here's the problem--Vicious did not buy the heroin that killed him--his mother did; this is well documented.
sounds like someone's full of shiat here, and some newspaper needs to do a better job fact-checking.
RE-READ--OK, sorry, he doesn't claim his heroin killed Vicious, only that he sold him junk the night before...so he has nothing to feel guilty about--his heroin wasn't that which killed Vicious.
SO...this ain't really news.
