That little clip from yesterday looked awfully stupid, so I wasn't expecting much. The whole trailer still looks kinda dumb, but in a fun sort of way. I think I might actually catch this in the theater now, instead of downloading it...er, renting the DVD.

Looks a lot more fun than that *cough* other nazi movie that came out recently.

2009-02-11 5:19:27 PM
It's a funny thing, vengeance. It gives people an excuse to do the very same things the bad guys did.

2009-02-11 5:20:38 PM
There's something about Brad Pitt and that accent that just doesn't work well together.

Also what's the story behind the spelling "Basterds"? Is there a point to it or did they just decide to see if they could catch some gramer nazis?

Oh, my, this looks like lots of gratuitously violent fun.

I will most certainly see this in the theater, crowds or no.

From an article on the movie:
Rumor has it that Pitt's character is an illiterate, lynch-rope-scarred hillbilly from Tennessee, hence the movie's purposefully misspelled header, "Inglourious Basterds."

Ya know, normally the sight of Eli Roth just gets on my damn nerves, but when he sports that crazy grin, then the look of glee as he's about to crack the skull of that Nazi with a baseball bat, he looks perfect for that character. Also, seeing Neal Schweiber from "Freaks and Geeks" taking part in an elite Nazi killing squad just brings a smile to my face.

I am there on opening night.

*checks* Nooo, released on a Friday night. Fine, make this:

I'm so there on the night after opening night. Motzei Shabbos Tarantino it is.

"I expect every man to give me 100 Nazi scalps... and I want those scalps!"

This sounds so full of win I want to have sex with it right now, just so I can say I hit it before it got famous.

Nice. A little bit of the ole ultra violence never hurt anybody.

Looks cool. We're overdue a fun WW2 movie, not a drab serious one.

/And Valkyrie sucked

Yeah. I HATE it when people spell that word incorrectly.

How long before we can finally stop making these things? Aren't most WW2 vets dead?

It's the best Norwegian Nazi zombie movie ever made!

Yeah, hits me odd too.

Better when he goes full retard with an accent.

2009-02-11 9:40:49 PM
So will they go 'Wolfenstein 3D' style history and kill Hitler?

If so, i'll see this thrice.

2009-02-11 9:41:41 PM
Doesn't look as annoying as most Tarantino movies.

2009-02-11 9:52:03 PM
Why'd they have to go and Jew up the original film?

Nazi Zombies... sounds like a great idea, but the trailer looks kind of crappy. Just another lame zombie movie, but the zombies are dressed like nazis. Other than that, nothing new here.

2009-02-11 10:15:58 PM
My enthusiasm for Inglorious Basterds just got squashed by all this talk of Nazi Zombies!

anybody know what song is playing in the trailer?

Ear slicing fun.

Can't wait.

This isn't going to go over well in Germany. I recommend straight to DVD there.

Angry desk-slamming Hitler disapproves of your shenanigans.

The original "Inglorious Bastards" had Bo Svenson and Fred Williamson in it as a very low budget "Dirty Dozen" ripoff in the late '70's that was actually pretty good. This looks like it could be a fun romp like "Kelly's Heroes" with Clint Eastwood.

I am looking forward to this QT film. I loved "Jackie Brown" which was a really good Elmore Leonard book that was adapted well like "Out of Bounds". I thought QT had a nice touch when the same character from both books was played by the same actor (Michael Keaton-in case you were wondering).

I just saw "Burn After Reading"... it was so weird, but fun. Pitt plays an idiot twink.

To me it looks just as annoying. I wonder how he'll work a samurai sword into this one.

my guess is that it might be some way to get around getting the movie played in theaters. How many theater marquees are going to advertise a movie with Bastard in the title?
