They really do make the worst steaks out there. Their cuts are terrible and they overcook the shiat out of them.

Indeed. I guess the gauntlet of angry food became too much for the common man.

I used to live by a Big Lots in southern California. One night while driving by I saw that the lower part of the B had burned out so the sign read "Pig Lots". Got a chuckle out of it, very fitting.

Bart: Why are we getting dressed up, Mom? Are we going to Black Angus?
Marge [sad and resigned]: Well, you might say we're going to the best steakhouse in the whole universe.
Bart [suspiciously]: So we're not going to Black Angus.

Seconded. I rarely go to steakhouses after Washington passed the retared smoking ban. (Ruth's Chris and Daniel's Broilers had to close their cigar lounges.)

As sad as this may be (never been to a Black Angus...so I can't speak about the food quality) But this financial mess didn't happen over night...they have 15.2 million in unused gift cards and gift certificates. At least the website is still running...and luckily...you can still buy a gift card

Reading a book "Vanishing Seattle" and I believe the first Black Angus restaurant was up on 99. I always wondered if that old neon sign had anything to do with the chain.

On a similar note: I've always wanted to re-arrange the "BIG N TASTY BURGER" sign at McDonald's to read, "BIG NASTY BURGER".

If someone else does it, please post a photo for me. Thanks!

I disagree. A steak is one of the few meals you can't cook at home as well as a good restaurant can. The best cuts of meat get snapped up by the top steakhouses, and their kitchen equipment, especially grills and knives, is certainly going to be better than yours.

Now, I'd rather have a steak at home than a steak at a Black Angus/Texas Roadhouse/etc. But for a real quality steak, you can't really do better than a top steakhouse.

I like to look like a big shot to my friends, so I go to the steakhouse and push around the waitresses. I comment on the things my friends order and the people at the other tables. When I'm about 70% through my food, I throw down my utensils and complain that I could have done it better myself.

I'm not crazy....both of those steakhouses didn't allow smoking at the tables. The cigar lounge was in a separate room with quality air filters....you couldn't smell smoke unless your nose was 6" from the door.

I talked to one of the managers there and he said they had just spent $35,000 on a new ventilation system when the ordinance was passed 2 months later. I loved that farking room, it felt like I was part of an old school social club.
