(Arizona Star)   I know we said stores would start failing on Black Friday. Then just before Christmas. But we're sure they're going to start failing AFTER Christmas. Any day now. You'll see   (azstarnet.com) divider line

They probably just set up shop in a place called Tuskan so people won't mispronounce the place's name.

Heh. I thought it was more like climate doomsayers.

"Global warming!"

(Earth gets cooler)

"That's anecdotal and localized -- global warming!"

(More contradictory data)

"Climate change!"

"I thought you said 'global warming.' "

"No no no -- all climate change is bad. For instance, ice in Greenland will get thinner next year."

(Ice gets thicker.)

"See? Just as we predicted!"

Etc. etc. etc.

"Holiday sales fell in a range of 2 percent to 4 percent compared with a year ago, according to SpendingPulse, a division of MasterCard Advisors. "

2 to 4 percent????

Most stores had 50% off sales, so people actually shopped MORE, right?

Being a critic is its own art. You're discussing *viewing* the movie, not *making* the movie.

Most movie directors would probably make shiatty critics. They're not fans, they're professionals. Two different things.

Wow, I got two single-syllable words out of order due to typing fast. Way to invalidate my question - I feel so ashamed at pointing out that you're obviously an idiot, now.

Let me rephrase:

How are the polar ice caps in on the global warming conspiracy? And glaciers throughout North America? Are they sentient, and bought off by algore (I'm using his retard-dittohead nickname, which is what you're likely more familiar with)?

2008-12-30 7:18:11 PM
I did my part today. I foolishly bought a pair of headphones with a giftcard at dicks sporting goods(yea I know I got ripped off). I had 16 bucks on it but everything was too damn expensive I wanted to get a total gym(that device you stick on your door to do pullups) but it was over the limit. I feel bad about buying those damn headphones now, what a waste!!!! GRRRRR!!!!!!

oh yea then I stopped by wal mart and bought a pair of dickies and a stick of deoderant. I blew all my Christmas money today. I would have a lot more but my mom took the 100 bucks my grandma gave me.

///I don't even know why I am sharing this

You know, I kind of get what they're going for with "Democrat Party", but I have never figured out what "Algore" is supposed to mean, or how it's supposed to hurt my feelings as a member of the Democrat Party.

Top 200?

I don't really have any basis to doubt that at all. I'm just curious what the distribution curve looks like.

That would be an interesting bit of information, if the Fark Overlords could be troubled to collect the data.

And of course there are tons of furniture stores out there going under, just like every other month.

I'd be curious myself. Anyway, the top 100 are listed here. After visiting this link, I'd have to adjust my estimate to say I'm in the top 300-400. Who knows...

I Christmas-shopped at two stores on their way out this year. Linens'n'shiat and Mervyn's.

It was sad---all picked over, even the display racks for sale. That's how you know it's a real tits-up going out of business sale, not a fakey "BUY BUY BUY! GOIN' OUTTA BIDNESS SALE!"

/Sad sad clerks at the checkouts, though. They knew it was over once Christmas was done.
