...that's one way to spin it, I suppose.

I thought the official line was the financial crisis was created by policies from a decade before GW took office?

primarily republican-led deregulation. that, and the SEC being asleep at the switch for 8 years. so, yeah, it may not be all bush's fault, but it' s 90-10 republican-democrat.

"This theory is quickly becoming a right-wing favorite. Karl Rove and Bill O'Reilly also recently claimed that the economic crisis was deliberately manufactured - not by Democrats but by journalists who wanted to help elect Obama."

So, journalists created a housing bubble, then encouraged the banking industry to make loans to people with bad credit, promising the bankers huge financial rewards on the high interest charged on the risky loans. Next they tricked Phil Gramm into pushing for a restructuring of the Glass Steagall act so they could fundamentally change the American banking industry. Then the journalists created a behind the scenes trading market with no rules or regulating laws, which packaged these loans together, cleverly converted them to AAA rated investments and resold them. They also created a market where anyone could sell "insurance" on investments called "credit swaps" so they could circumvent the insurance laws but not actually have any money on hold to pay out on the insurance policies they sold. They then tricked American companies into outsourcing much of our manufacturing, resulting in a large portion of our currency migrating to foreign countries and out of our home economy, which caused credit pressure here in the states. Then when the grossly over priced housing market hit a wall, the whole house of cards tumbled all for the benefit of Barack Obama

Those damn lefty journalists are freaking evil geniuses!

2008-12-22 11:24:55 PM
What I previously said all makes sense to me but what confuses me is how the journalists got the SEC to sit on their hands and watch a 50 billion dollar Ponzi scheme unfold over a 10 year period without taking any action? Could they have infiltrated the SEC?

I am just wondering - as I say, it can't be proven - I'm just wondering if a lot of this was by design to create economic panic

goddammit, this whole phrasing your attack as a question or rhetorical postulation has got to stop. you're not fooling anyone when you say "is barack obama a sleeper cell? story at 11." although, i have to wonder, and this has never been proven, but does rush limbaugh still finger little hispanic boys' buttholes?

I've actually come to realize that electing the Democrats has become the only hope America has anymore. Eight years ago the Republicans may have had the same seeds of corruption that they have now, but at least they could win. Who do we want defending America ? Winners.

But now there has been an unending list of instances where the Republicans have been outsmarted, outmaneuvered, or just plain beaten by the Dems. I accept and believe their story that they are the perpetual victims who have never done anything at all wrong or made any poor decisions... but that still leaves them as some kind of pansies who can't even beat the Dems. How are they going to protect America against real threats if they can't handle the idiot libs ?

Assassination wouldn't help. His drug problems indicate even character assassination wouldn't. There's some fun daydreams to be had, but nothing else.

I suppose if you could figure out how to induce a fatal overdose and make sure the coroner's report made it "clear" how hard Rush worked at drugging himself, that might work. Ideally you'd want to combine it with something more exciting, however, like cops finding him OD'ed dead in Satanist robes, surrounded by occult graffiti and trappings for a black mass, with a pack of others stoned out of their minds, who later "reluctantly" testify that he was a regular part of the cult's drugs, infanticide, interracial orgies with adolescents of both sexes....

If you've access to a better grade of Mad Science, inducing cancer of the lower jaw to be blamed on his cigars might quiet him in a more poetically amusing fashion.

I consider myself fairly independant. And one of the best things that could happen to this country is to have all voices from the far side of each isle all suffer massive coronaries at the same time so the rest of us sane people could get around to fixing problems and not waste time pointing fingers at the other guys and figuring out how we're gonna 'git em'

LOL, no he doesn't. No shock jock does. Rush is a smart man, and he knows what buttons to push. I doubt he is even slightly racist, and he spouts so terribly racist shiat. I also have my doubts about his sexuality.

Rush laughs all the way to the bank, and probably only has slightly more respect for his listeners than I.

I really have a hard time figuring out if Rush believes what he ays or not.

does he go "well it CAN'T be the fault of the republicans! I've poured my whole life in to their agenda so I KNOW it can't be their fault. The problem must have been with..."

or is it

"The republicans really farked up! How can I make it look like the fault of the Libs?"

or maybe it depends on the subject.

The funniest thing is that Democrats are trying to blame Bush for the credit crisis.

Democrats forced banks to loan money to minorities and other poor people that could not pay them back. Democrats contended that it was discrimination not to make these bad loans.

Eventually, the chickens came home to roost, as J. Wright would say, and these people were not able to pay back their loans.

The credit crisis is entirely the fault of Democrats. Does anybody think Obama is going to stop the practice of the government forcing banks to give loans to minorities and other poor people that can't pay them back?

I don't.

He's framing the issue in a way that can be easily digested by the public. Same damn thing happened in the 80s recession. Unemployment was rising, there were NO jobs to be had even minimum wage jobs and STILL there were people saying the unemployed were LAZY and that's why they were unemployed. It seriously was a matter talked about on TV, at work, and amongst acquaintances. There's always a group of people who think that if THEIR life is fine, then EVERYONE else is just imaging things.

He's also trying to create a mental relationship between the soon to be soaring unemployment (you think what we have now is bad, you haven't seen nothing yet) and the Democratic power in Washington.

He's not an idiot, he knows EXACTLY what is happening in the economy. He's willing to risk a completely collapse of the US economy so that Democrats lose power.

Most long term unemployed people are lazy...for some reason it is taboo to say so. Democrats would have you believe that lazy people don't exist and every poor person is just a victim of some rich guy or corporation.

I would say that the Obama junta has done it's fair share to make things worse economically.

Let's face it, Reid and Pelosi are worthless. They approved a sweetheart deal for the banks. Barney Frank is too busy chasing young men to put together a good plan on this matter (his boyfriend is almost 30 years younger).

If Obama wanted to, he could have Reid and Pelosi removed. But he keeps them around.

Obama won't deliver on any stimulus either. He just doesn't know how to get the job done. It won't come with his plan. His plan doesn't help out people who were hit hard by this crisis. The people losing their homes are not about to go work as WPA-lite construction workers. They often-times have jobs, but they don't have the money to deal with their housing payments.

This nation is spiraling towards bankruptcy due to idiots like Obama and Obama's bro George W. Bush.

Obama is too busy planning his $50M coronation party to come up with new ideas for people like you and me. He's hoping to find a fashionable bus to throw the gays under with another weak wink to the right, the people who will never come around to support him. While giving an up yours to a traditionally Democratic group (the gays) by praising Pat Robertson with a beard (Warren)
