Because "fake cop and real cop trying to get free coffee busted by cops lying in wait for them" would have been accurate, but less interesting.
2003-01-16 08:25:54 AM
To wash down the free doughnuts?
2003-01-16 08:27:29 AM
And the poor security guards of the world weep, because they never get free stuff.
2003-01-16 08:28:47 AM
Yeah, I'd go to jail for free coffee. THat's worth it. Those asses.
2003-01-16 08:29:30 AM

"'I don't understand why you would jeopardize yourself to get free coffee,'" she said.

Well, it is Starbucks. (sarcasm)

Mr. Orange never screwed up this bad. He only shot a woman.

"I don't understand why you would jeopardize yourself to get free coffee," she said.

Maybe it's because you're stupid.

"I don't understand why you would jeopardize yourself to get free coffee," she said.

cuz it's expensive?
2003-01-16 08:35:51 AM
Trying to steal coffee from Starbucks? Hell, at their prices, that's almost grand theft.

fake cop, real cop, free coffee....

real coffee?
2003-01-16 08:44:31 AM
He blew his cover when he didn't ask for free donuts too.
2003-01-16 08:59:38 AM
I doubt it was the free coffee that was the incentive, so much as the sad little buzz he no doubt got from people thinking that he was a cop.
2003-01-16 10:00:39 AM
Would of been funny if when he was getting these free coffee's there was a armed holdup and the store owner's expected him to do something about it ,, while he shyt's his pant's thinking what the fark do i do,,,
2003-01-16 10:37:28 AM
What, no ironic tag?
2003-01-16 10:37:31 AM
I dunno, for Starbucks coffee I may try the same shiat. Their White Chocolate Mocha Latte (no foam, skim milk) is better than an orgasm but a pricey $4.20...
2003-01-16 10:52:20 AM
There are no donuts at Starbuck's.
2003-01-16 10:53:47 AM
Starbucks typically gives out about three cups of free coffee each day to police officers who stop by, said Deidre Pinckney, a manager at the coffee shop.

AFAIK, that's illegal in most states.

cops get paid more than me

I want free coffee, starbucks
2003-01-16 11:11:03 AM

"Extortion"? yeah. "Freebies"? Owner/managment discretion -- cops are usually welcomed at high-risk retailers (the hooded narcs are another thread !)
2003-01-16 11:34:20 AM
Damn, that's like $5000 for a cuppa joe.
2003-01-16 11:54:22 AM
Actually, BlueDog, the Starbucks my girlfriend works at sells Krispy Kremes sometimes (for like a dollar, but that's to be expected).
2003-01-16 12:07:10 PM
Yea, I thought it was illegal for the cops to accept gifts. It leads to them favoring certain parties and possibly looking the other way when those parties violate laws.

I used to give the cops freebies at the donut shop where I worked while I was in high school. The way I figured it, as little as they end up doing a lot of the time, they still do things that I'm far too chicken-shiat to ever do. One day I saw one of the officers I knew have to go into the convenience store across the street with his gun drawn because the alarm had been tripped. It was a false alarm, but what if it wasn't, you know? Besides, if a cop arrests me for something and I know him, at least I know he's arresting me for something I've done (or that he has an actual reason to suspect me).

Now Rhode Island cops, that's a different story altogether.

*rambles incoherently*

Bad Cop. No Donut.
2003-01-16 01:58:30 PM
The local cops around the Starbucks I used to work at can't accept free coffee so we have to charge them for a refill $.50. I would give it to them for free but they can't take it so its awkward. When I worked there I would give lots of free stuff away.

and yes we did have Krispy Kremes for $.95 even funnier when the Acme nextdoor had a dozen for about 3 dollars and had a starbucks inside.

Apart from what has already been mentioned, giving freebies to cops might make them favor one retailer over others when it comes to patrolling an area. This is unfair to others in the area.

I was just browsing through SportsbyBrooks. Is it my imagination, or is this girl really, really tiny?
2003-01-17 01:36:57 PM
Candypants... I must argue that a decent orgasm is far more enjoyable than Starbucks. (And O do like Starbucks)
