Well, I for one believe that the best people to manage complex, nation-wide bureaucracies that handle complicated policy issues are those who have no experience in them whatsoever.

It's the same reason that I grab people randomly in the street to fix my plumbing and remove my appendix.

Parenthetically, allow me to add as well DERRRR HURRRRRRRR.

Maybe he should fill it up with mavericky outsiders. Are there any Democrat Sarah Palins he could tap for the job?

Cagey B- yeah, just like Bush did. one highlight: Great job, Brownie!

WALK IT OFF CLETUS. YOUR SIDE LOST.

I am going to repeat myself from a previous thread.

6-months ago: "OH NOES, OMG! Obama has no experience! Everybody Panic!"

Today: "OH NOES, OMG! Obama is appointing experienced people! Everybody Panic!"

A few suggestions.
Stop wringing your hands.
reteach yourself how to breathe ... months of shallow breathing through your mouth has damaged your brain but there's still hope. Try deep breathing through your nose. Breath ALL the way in, filling your lungs. Hold it in for a 2 or 4 count. Slowly exhale for about a 6 count. Hold it when your lungs are empty for a 2 count. Repeat until that manic sense of urgency and impending doom subside.
find your remote and check out a channel besides FOXnews.
Rejoin your country and stop being a batshiat crazy, divisive prick.

Actually, removing your appendix is fairly easy. Keeping you alive during and after the procedure is an entirely separate issue.

Well, when I voted for Obama I said, "Boy, I am really looking forward to Obama changing things! And by that, I mean him hiring nothing but people who are not Washington insiders! Because if he hired primarily Washington insiders then he could not possibly bring any change to this country, because everyone knows that the President doesn't make any decisions, only his cabinet does! Whoo! It's a good thing that Obama will appoint only Washington outsiders, else I will have to moan and complain endlessly about it, even before he makes it into the White House!"

You people are beyond pathetic, in case you could not tell.

Also, if I shiat my pants, I wouldn't wrap my ass and junk up in steel wool. I'd CHANGE into a new pair of clean underwear.

This is no different than the "OMG BIDEN KNOWS THINGS!" panic they were in during the election. I know I have said this before, but people are just looking for reasons to biatch about Obama... when he either hasn't done anything wrong. I'm sure he'll actually fark up -- all Presidents do at SOME point. Can't you people wait until he does something wrong, or even something at all, to heap on the criticism?

2008-11-24 2:36:35 PM
Having people doing stuff they have experience doing IS change.

Example: Harriet Meyers? Brownie?

GAT_00: This is a new and unique topic.

Don't we have to greenlight this once a day?

Oh... I get it... The subby thinks that Obama is magic and can make a whole pile of new fresh faces appear to fill the spots in his cabinet. I know, I know... for about a year or so your ilk have been calling Obama a "messiah". While that may have started out to be a joke by you folks to try and diminish the excitement and support that Obama had going through the election, I think you may have taken it to heart a little too much. See... he's just a man. A smart man and soon to be the most powerful man in the world, but a man none the less. He doesn't have magical powers. He can't summon a whole new crop of previously unknown politicians to do his bidding. No... he has to work with what is already available to him.

I know this come as a blow to some of you folks... and I'm sorry we weren't able to get through to you sooner about him just being a man and not a messiah, but we did the best we could. I'm just glad that you're expressing yourself now while there is still some hope left of saving you from your self inflicted delusions. So take heart, be strong, and realize that it's alright to make mistakes. This is obviously not your first one, nor will it be your last, but admitting your mistake is the first step towards recovery and reintegration with reality. Good luck, we're all pulling for ya.

The party in power stand to take the most criticism. IOW, you won -- get over it.

Good point, but some counter-examples: Donald Rumsfeld, Condeleeza Rice, Colin Powell, all had substantial experience in government. (Although, at least Powell realized he had bet on a horse named "Glue" and got out.) Experience is not always a reliable predictor of success.

Except, this isn't legitimate criticism; it's butthurt whining. There's a world of difference between "I don't like Obama's spending proposals" and "This isn't change as I define it HURRRRRRRR."

I dunno...I kind of like his choice for NSA, Treasury, and HHS

couple thoughts:

Seems hypocritical to denounce him for not having experience, then slam him for picking experienced people to support him.

Expected and reasonable backlash to a change platform decrying washington insiders (I think that last was mostly pushed by Obama supporters rather than by his campaign though)

The neener-neener responses sound like clips from the Rush Limbaugh show 8 years ago.

I mentioned the same thing in the "Progressives whining about not getting seated at the table" thread, which is just a thinly veiled version of this theme.

I posit that we actually see what the Administration DOES before we go about getting the pitch to burn them. And we actually see what they DO before we criticize. Right now, it's all about the hypotheticals, and getting inches on pages, as opposed to actually having much of real substance.

This is pundit wankery, and is only so much Sturm und Drang.

I have no doubt whatsoever that his Administration will do things that deserve criticism--but I am sort of waiting for them to get into office and actually DO something before pointing fingers and getting my knickers in a twist...

You might have had the man who chose Sarah Palin as a running mate making these selections.

2008-11-24 3:03:01 PM
Before: "WAAAAHHH!!! Obambi doesn't have enough experience!!1!"
Now: "WAAAAHHHH1!! He's only picking people with experience!!"

Next 8 years: "WWWAAAAAAHHHH!! My butt hurts!"

Redundant thread is redundant.

As a Republican, I'm happy to see Obama choosing folks with experience. At the very least, we can expect more from this Administration in its early days than we got with from Clinton's or Carter's.

I don't consider that the reason, but it is probably a reason.

The Sword of Damocles hangs precariously over SoS Clinton's head (should she in fact get the position). She can't just call backsies and scurry back to the Senate if she runs afoul of her boss.

That's exactly what she would try to do. Hillary isn't sane, remember?

I suppose she could work to get a spineless seat-warmer to take her spot, then s/he could retire for "family reasons" to allow Hil to run again (in 2012) if the SoS gig doesn't pan out. Yeah, I can see that...

Here's something else that I don't get - Obama fought a bitter, knock down/drag out primary race against Hillary. After which, Hillary definately had what you and I would call 'hard feelings' about losing to Obama. Absolutely nobody in the world disputes this fact. After a fight like that, knowing that Hillary is...well...Hillary....why would Obama - or more importantly, Obama supporters - want to see Hillary on Team Obama? Ok, I can sorta buy the whole forgive and forget thing. Most Obama voters probably don't take Hillary's actions during the primary race as anything personal. But not for one second do I believe Hillary *ever* forgives OR forgets anything ever done to thwart her plans. And if you are at all honest with yourself, you'd be forced to agree with me.

So knowing all of that, any possible support of Hillary as secstate is puzzling to say the least. It's one thing to believe in Obama and his vision. It's quite another to believe that Obama's momentum can overcome Hillary's insanity.

I will admit, it is indeed curious to see people give Hillary a pass if it seems that Obama is willing to vouch for her. For my part, I will never trust a Clinton. Even after the entire family line is dead and buried, I plan on surrounding their graves with a line of salt and doubling up on holy water for graveside vigil.

Guess who said "I am not qualified to work at the CIA"?

Hint: Bush appointed head of the CIA.

Guess who said "The highlight of my career is that I was fired as a horse manager"?

Hint: Bush made him head of FEMA

Who is the worst secretary of the treasury in all of american History?

Hint: You guessed it, Bush appointed him.

In fact, almost all of the Bush appointees were awful, evil, without merit or made while congress was out of session.
