"The cause of the crash was unclear". Huh? I can tell them right up front, the plane quit flying.

Oh yeah, boobies.
2001-08-26 01:27:52 AM
Dude... that's gross.

2001-08-26 01:30:18 AM
That was uncalled for man. Jesus....
2001-08-26 01:30:22 AM
Yeah wait at least 72 hours. That's the usual waiting period
2001-08-26 01:31:16 AM
Oh but its ok to piss on someones religion?
2001-08-26 01:32:15 AM
Drew: who made up that rule?
2001-08-26 01:32:30 AM
I find it quite sad that I checked fark before bed and see this. It's not like I was a big fan of Aaliyah, but I just finally saw "Romeo Must Die" recently. She was younger than me (by ~4 months according to IMDb) :(
2001-08-26 01:32:47 AM
It really is a shame,though.
2001-08-26 01:34:27 AM
Oh please, she had it better than most of us ever will. It's like Dale Earnhardt's death, the man died doing what he loved most. I would rather go out that way than sick in a hospital bed.
2001-08-26 01:35:03 AM
that is sad... just starting an acting career as well....

Religion bashing is something that will always and has happened through out time. Doing a "Quick! F__k the dead girl" joke like right after she dies is tasteless.

Nice call, Wolfanoz.

Heh heh heh...
2001-08-26 01:41:33 AM
Drew's right, there is a 72 hour waiting period that needs to be honored before making fun of dead people. Can't remember where I heard it, but it's the general rule of thumb.

2001-08-26 01:42:47 AM
Marlas: doing a dead joke is tasteless no matter when someone dies....period.. I remember hearing the joke about the astronauts not even a day after they croked. Everyone still laughed at it.
2001-08-26 01:44:23 AM
religions have been dead for thousands of years :P
2001-08-26 01:45:01 AM
I only hear crickets in the room. No one's laughing.
2001-08-26 01:46:28 AM
Sgamer: I dont belong to a religion... You dont need a building or a priest to tell you that you have beliefs that exist within yourself about God whether you believe in him or not. Your either believe or you dont. Case closed.
2001-08-26 01:47:01 AM
Marlas: sounds like you need an exterminator
2001-08-26 01:49:20 AM
Pety pety .. the pup's been cornered and is lashing out.
2001-08-26 01:50:10 AM
On the contrary...I just escaped from the fence
2001-08-26 01:51:16 AM
But getting back to the subject, it's a real shame she's dead, isn't it?
2001-08-26 01:52:23 AM
I heard that she was filming her parts for Matrix 2 this past summer. Don't know if she completed it or not?
2001-08-26 01:52:54 AM
yeah, she has a new album out or its coming out soon...heh
2001-08-26 01:53:12 AM
she was in matrix 2?
2001-08-26 01:53:52 AM
Yeah...she was supposed to be... I don't know if she filmed her parts yet or not.
2001-08-26 01:54:34 AM
note that the waiting period on jokes about dead people is generally longer if they arent famous or are extremely well liked. i think ur still not allowed to make jokes about princess di in public.
2001-08-26 01:54:53 AM
Poor girl.

Did she finish "Queen of the Damned"? She was so pretty, I was SO waiting to see that....
2001-08-26 01:56:04 AM
yeah, i hate it when pretty people die.
2001-08-26 01:56:48 AM
Yeah, its supposed to come out this fall.
2001-08-26 01:58:35 AM
She was signed for Matrix 2 & 3 and recently finished the title roll as "Queen of the Damned," a new film based on the Anne Rice novel of the same name.
And though I'm not a huge fan of her music, she had an amazing voice.
It is always tragic when someone is struck down at any age (unless they're evil of course).

Going with that if your belief and your god are so strong and pure, a few people bashing it on a message board shouldn't matter in the slightest, so therefore, yes, it is okay.
2001-08-26 01:59:55 AM
i'd rather they put a new actress in her role for the matrix movies than mess with the plot/directing of the movie to push her out...
2001-08-26 02:00:42 AM
i mean i wouldnt mind, at least, if the actress changes in the middle of the film...for plot's sake.
2001-08-26 02:00:50 AM
It doesnt matter to me... Im just talking on behalf of most that it bothers.
2001-08-26 02:01:28 AM
This is just too sad. I really liked her music, she was so cool. And someone to die so young is really tragic.

I've been surrounded by death so much recently, its really starting to get me down.
2001-08-26 02:01:58 AM
Yeah I hope they dont pull a Pink Panther and put a stand in for her just showing a similar back to Aaliyah's and someone who sounds like her.
2001-08-26 02:02:49 AM
But it shouldn't even bother them, really, if it's pure, good and strong, and if they KNOW so strongly they're right.
2001-08-26 02:04:56 AM
From: insert movie rumormill internet site

The Wachowski brothers are saddened and are asking if she had a sister and checking out Aliyha impersonators to fill in a handful of scenes, unfortunately most of her impersonators are men. Keanu, who stars opposite her and plays her love interest, is been quoted as say doesn't he doesn't mind if he has to work with a male impersonator.
2001-08-26 02:05:52 AM
Thats not the case though, if someone kept persecuting you for something you believe in, wouldn't you get angry? I don't care if someone says something indirectly, but when you attack someone personally, the instinct is to fight back.
2001-08-26 02:06:39 AM
Skallas: I had a feeling she already filmed some parts
2001-08-26 02:10:51 AM
If it's the Matrix, they can just make a new Aaliyah, can't they?

On a different note, it's sad that the Backstreet Boys and N'sync weren't on that plane.
2001-08-26 02:11:43 AM
That's true. However, just because one believes something does not make it wrong (or right, technically) to insult this. If I believed the world was flat, people'd likely insult me relentlessly. And rightly so. Even if I believed with all my heart, said the evidence opposing my views was a lie, and my life revolved around belief the world was flat, I'd still be made fun of for being so foolish.

So. I believe people have the right to believe whatever the hell they want, such as the world being flat, britney a virgin, whatever. Doesn't make them right, and doesn't elevate them above anyone else (and, subsequently, ridicule.)

Besides, it's just a messageboard, it's not as if they're in your face.
2001-08-26 02:12:32 AM
I hope that they take the expense to just refilm with a new actress (depending on how close to done it was).

It's like some trivia I saw about Shrek. The whole voice track of Shrek was recorded by Chris Farley, and after he died they rerecorded the whole track over with Mike Meyers.

Guess we just wait to see how Matrix Reloaded and Matrix 3 turn out, and if it ends up as a male impersonator in some spots (eww :P)
