Oy. My badly sprained my ankle a few weeks ago & have been somewhat immobile for 3 weeks. I can walk short distances but have trouble with long car rides and standing for long periods of time. Even sitting in the bus still bugs me (ankle swells up). My mom lives 45 min away from here in a nursing home. She feels that my ankle shouldn't stop me from taking the children to a fair this Sunday where there will be no place to sit.

Wow, Jewish mother jokes, anyone?

Yeps. Know the difference between a Catholic mother, and a Jewish mother?
Catholic: "if you don't eat your vegetables, I'll kill you!"
Jewish: "If you don't eat your vegetables, I'll kill myself!"

Or, how are we sure Jesus was jewish?
He took over his father's business.
He tought is mother was a virgin.
His mother though his son was God.

FTA:
In a finding that could have symbolic value for Israel, the archaeologists said other items discovered at the fortress dig indicated there was most likely a strong king and central government in Jerusalem during the period scholars believe that David ruled the holy city and ancient Israel.

I guess this wouldn't be that big of a eye opener to a Christian/Jew.

There has been good archaeological evidence of Hebrew occupation in Israel for the last 3,000 years - but that doesn't change the fact that before they were there, there were the Canaanites (and others) and before the Canaanites - there were yet other people living in what is now known as Israel - long before there was a Hebrew language.

So I don't see how anything changes, politically.

EnnuiPoet: "Contents Not To Be Taken Literally"

So is God metaphorical? Are moderate Christian receptive to a non-literal resurrection of Jesus? If not, why not? If we're to assert that the Bible is comprised of poetry, allegory, history, geneaology and so on rather than homogeneous metaphorical prose, it leads into some pretty dicey territory. Jesus' sacrifice atoned for mankind's shared original sin, which resulted from our fall from grace, i.e. excommunication from the garden of eden following Eve's little mishap with the serpent. So for moderates who defend believing in a literal death and resurrection of Jesus in atonement for original sin, denying that there was an actual garden of eden is not an option. For Jesus' death to have meaning, one must read Genesis as historical narrative, which of course is what it was intended to be by the authors, and what essentially all Christians took it to be until science made it look silly.

Good thing they got to it before the islamic Waqf did. The Waqf tends to "misplace" jewish relics. Like for example in the Temple Mount area.

There are Paleo-Hebrew texts much older than the 10th century. The find is significant because it's a text found in what is probably a 10th century Judaean settlement from the 10th century, therefore connected Unified Monarchy.

And I know it's futile to say it, but this has nothing to do with politics, the "Palestinians," or Zionist ideology. The connection is made only by idiot journalists who know nothing about Israel except for the Arab-Israeli conflict.

When all you have is a hammer the whole world looks like a nail.

The NY Times published a good article yesterday about Khirbet Qeiyafa. For anyone who is interested here is the link:

I bet it's a disclaimer that used to appear at the beginning of the Bible, and that the English translation will read something like:

"The events depicted in this book are fictitious. Any similarity to any person living or dead is merely coincidental."

Politically, this is about as useful as UN Resolution 242.

Leave it to Farkers to completely ignore that fact.

Kinda like Israel ignores UNRS 242? And why does Israel ignore it? Let's take a look at the wording, shall we?

...political independence of every State in the area and their right to live in peace within secure and recognized boundaries free from threats or acts of force.

Naw, that's too easy. Let's fire up the American-made Apaches and raise hell instead, shall we?

Don't you see? the Bible is infallible! A perfect document whose every word is gospel, and should be taken literally. This new discovery seems quite clear to me: Judge Slave King. Get it? The activist judges of the Supreme Court and their baby-killing ways have made a slave of the president! There is nothing that our hero, George Bush (bless his name) can do! It's the judges! They must be stopped! Has anyone contacted Pat Robertson yet? This is big BIG news!

Do I even need to point out the irony of your comment? I probably do.

The fact of the matter is that Israel has obeyed Resolution 242, it's the Palestinians who haven't. The resolution merely calls for Israel to withdraw from territories, not all of the territories. Israel has withdrawn from the territories, they've withdrawn from most of the territories.

But the part of the resolution that no ever seems to remember is the part that called for: "(ii) Termination of all claims or states of belligerency and respect for and acknowledgement of the sovereignty, territorial integrity and political independence of every State in the area"

Oh, wait, since the Palestinians can't pull their shiat together to actually commit Genocide, Israel should just ignore their Genocidal rhetoric.
