(Yahoo)   Since Palin didn't immediately beat Ted Stevens' skull in with a hockey stick, they're obviously political cronies who stomp puppies. Or something like that   (news.yahoo.com) divider line

She'd much rather him be expelled than lose an election. Fantastic.

2008-10-29 4:05:30 PM
Now that's a headline!

2008-10-29 4:10:35 PM
[after Senator Stevens had his guilty verdict handed down]

"Governor Palin, are you planning on voting for Senator Stevens?"

"I'm not sure."

Okay then.

(that was the WRONG answer, in case you could not tell)

2008-10-29 4:12:00 PM
They will both be fading into obscurity soon, just not soon enough.

Good riddance.

2008-10-29 4:12:55 PM
governor palin was the director of Ted Stevens Excellence in Public Service, Inc. or something like that.

2008-10-29 4:20:26 PM
PITA declares: The Nation is fascist. *eyes roll out of head*

2008-10-29 4:22:11 PM
It seems that as long as Ted Stevens is not consireded a sociolist, she is OK with his corrupted ass.

2008-10-29 4:22:19 PM
I thought the right-wing line was that since Obama didn't refute all of these ridiculous rumors, they were true.

2008-10-29 4:31:54 PM
Palin was a director of one of Ted Steven's 527 groups.

Now punch yourself in the nutsack five times for being a retard, submitter.

They're obviously political cronies who stomp puppies club baby seals and shoot wolves from helicopters.

I can't believe she pals around with convicted felons.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 07-061

Governor Meets with Senator Stevens During Juneau Visit - Applauds Senator's Comments Before Legislature

March 19, 2007, Juneau, Alaska - For the second time in less than a month, Governor Sarah Palin met today with the state's senior Senator, Ted Stevens. This morning's meeting was held in the Governor's Juneau office.

During the meeting, Senator Stevens and the Governor focused on the AGIA. Many of those comments were reiterated during the Senator's joint address before the Legislature soon after.

"It is so encouraging to hear again that Senator Stevens and I are singing from the same sheet of music," said Governor Palin. "In his address, he pushed for action this year on a natural gas pipeline. I also have the Senator's assurance that once the state has acted on the AGIA, our Congressional Delegation will do everything it can do to expedite the federal review of the natural gas pipeline project."

They made beautiful ethics-be-damned music together

She's a regular Jimmy Carter socialist.

I love it when she says Obama's windfall profits tax for oil companies is socialism but when she does it it's mavericky.

The reality: The Republicans want Stevens to win re-election. Then, he can resign, and the Governor of Alaska (remember her?) can appoint a replacement (like herself?)

Alaska law does not allow this; a special election would be held for the vacant seat.

bob_ross, Sarah Palin was already married in high school?

You fail at understanding the Permanent Fund. It's funded not by a tax, but mineral sales royalties. Royalties payments happen when companies drill or mine on land that's not theirs. That's capitalism, not socialism.

2008-10-29 6:01:51 PM
Also, there's nothing wrong with what she's proposing. If Stevens wins, the Republicans have won, and if they win they deserve the chance to have a candidate in that position. If he drops out now, the Democrats win by default. If he steps aside after the election and causes a special election, the Republicans get a chance to name a replacement candidate for him.

No, "The Reality" is a special election, not an appointment.

Which is why I'm neither surprised nor outraged by her behavior on this. She's still a Republican, and this is for her party. A Democrat in this position would do the same thing since they don't want the opponent to steamroll their way to a victory by their party's candidate bowing out at the last minute.

Her saying "I'm not sure" to who she's voting for, on the other hand, that's a load of shiat.

You fail to understand what socialism is. It isn't about taxes. In fact, you could argue it has NOTHING to do with taxation.

It's about GOVERNMENT CONTROL of ENTERPRISE.

In other words, that IS socialism, and progressive taxation is NOT.

Words, they mean things.... not to republicans apparently

*sigh*

You're either being retarded, or a bad troll, but I'll bite.

Ok, Government control, yadda yadda. In which instance, either Obama raising taxes or Alaska leasing land to the oil companies and taking a cut of the profits in return, is socialism being implemented?

Having the community collect economic rent on natural resources is preferable to taxes on income, no matter what label is used or how progressive it is.

If she hadn't been screaming about "GOTCHA JOURNALISM!" when it wasn't, she would be able to cry wolf now on that POS question. Because that really is gotcha journalism.

I don't care who you are or what your interview subject is running for. You do NOT ask them who they are voting for in any race.

If Stevens wins and then resigns, the special election will be held after Nov 4th. Sarah could run for the Senate seat as a Republican , assuming Obama wins as has been fortold by unbiased Farkers.

In four years, the GOP candidate Bobby Jindal will be able to say confidently that Louisiana is not in fact the most corrupt state in America.

One new thing this election has taught everyone is that Alaskan politics is amazingly corrupt, much like every other petrodollar kleptocracy.

Now, if only Sarah Palin would hunt Ted Steven from a helicopter.

I'd vote for that.

Here is an interesting hypothetical. What if the senate doesn't expel him, he doesn't resign, and he stays a senator in jail? I'd rather have that than a "Sen. Palin."

/shudders

Yeah, well, she didn't run a 527 for him, he didn't make a commercial for her, he didn't endorse her. . .

Oh wait, that's completely wrong. They are very connected. Subby is a moran.

It's pretty doubtful that he'll get jail time. However, if he does, the Senate will definitely expel him.

We're actually just trying to discourage Republicans from voting because in secret polls that no-one's seen McCain is actually winning, not on campaign life support.

Oh, did I just say that out loud, and then type it as I was saying it, then preview, then submit the comment?

The Alaska Perm Fund is socialism by definition.

The state (the people) owns all the mineral rights and profits from them go directly to every citizen equally. This is really not something you can argue.

I don't even necessarily disagree with the Fund, but it is socialism.

A portion of the profits go to them. Jesus, we've discussed this ad nauseum. They are royalties, just like the Federal Government has been getting from mineral rights ever since they figured out they could. Now I imagine that you'll call that socialist.

I don't think it's fair to blame her for not bringing up Stevens... if I were running a campaign, I would probably not make it a point to highlight some long-serving guy from my party and state who just got himself convicted of a bunch of corruption-related felonies.

With so much to actually dislike about Sarah Palin, why is anyone stretching, anyway?

It really isn't socialism. Just like progressive taxation isn't socialism, just like the bank bailout wasn't socialism.

Alaska has an "earth rights" constitution in which ALL CITIZENS EQUALLY OWN ALL THE OIL AND OTHER RESOURCES. Its codified in law.

I think its a great idea, but it is socialism. Georgism actually.
