Get over it people. Does anyone even watch ST anymore?

Oh, and Boobies.
2001-08-24 10:37:33 AM
OK, I just had to claim boobies one time in my life.

Do what the article says: go to amazon, type in Patch Adams, and listen to the first track.

Can you say WANK?

I would say that people that watch star trek should be forcibly sterilized, but they in all likelihood would never breed anyway.

Hey! Where'd my post go?
2001-08-24 11:04:27 AM
I don't know where your post went, Boojieboy, but congratulations on claiming boobies!

God I love the filter...

And yet missing links like Fb- still read articles about it and post comments about it. Go figure...

The last, emphysemic gasp of the $tar Trek Franchi$e. "If I could, then I would..." You can't so please don't.

Shane M:
How did you do it???

I like the original ST, could live with the odd episode of STNG, DS9 had it moments in the last two series and Voyager???? well Voyager had Seven of Nine.

But, with the exception of the the first series ST, they didn't use any science fiction writers, which is why only the original ST (First series) has stories that makes you think. It would be nice to believe that US TV is ready to embrace good SF (As it used to be known) but I doubt it.

Still without ST, B5 could never have happened. (It also needed some finance from UK's Channel 4)

I look forward to Enterprise, because it may be good, and that will be good for anyone who wants to see the general public think more about science, the culture they live in, and themselves.

Babylon 5 re-runs are still available on Sci-Fi! Washes that bad "Trek" taste right out of the ol' brain.

Jaybee: Read the page source. He broke it up with a font tag
2001-08-24 11:53:37 AM
Henchman: Except when they're running season 5 B5. Then I need some Farscape to wash the taste out. :)

TNG had a small handful of decent eps over its entire run, the one with the Enterprise-C being my favorite. DS9 had a nice epic feel and the best ensemble Trek cast ever. Voyager... ummmm.... had boobies (the fact that 7 was the only character to ever consistently reality-check Janeway was just a bonus).

Enterprise... ehhh. I'm keeping my expectations low. They're making a lot of the same promises about it that they were about Voyager. I just hope they let Mr. Bakula slip in an "Oh boy..." sometime.

This is just the Star Trek geeks scrambling for something to whine over since the Star Wars geeks had the opportunity to complain about the title. ST geeks have to realize that while they donate all their money to Gene Rod-n-bury the movies need to draw more than just geeks to be profitable.

Season 5 was weak because JMS had to wrap everything up in season 4 (thanks to TNT waffling over whether or not they'd renew. They also killed Crusade with too many lame-ass demands after "giving JMS creative control." Idiots).

7 of 9 = 36 of D

As for DS9, it was at it's best when it copied B5. B5 had an epic war, DS9 got an epic war. B5 got ancient races at war with each other, DS9 got the same thing (Prophets and Pah Wraiths, oh my!). DS9 was at its best when it knew it was going to end, and it went to a continuing plot that spanned many shows rather than rely on episodic shows where nothing changed (which B5 had been doing all along. Pity Voyager never followed suit).

I don't trust anyone named Captain Hair Piece. I've never really obsessed over ST, but I watched it and I hope the new series does well.

Further Robin Williams/TV theme tune tie ins:

Theme From / TV Show

Dead Poets Society / Seaquest DSV 3001

Hook / Baywatch Nights Returns

Moscow On The Hudson / Knight Rider 2056

Birdcage / Cop Rock: The Next Generation

What Dreams May Come / Police Academy: The Series X

Jack / Bosom Buddies: The Breast Just Got Better

Do any other viewers have any such equally hilarious matches to add?

Yeah,so do I Skel.As long as that farking idiot Berman wont make this another touchy-feely ,p.c. drama set in outer space. Its Sci-fi,lets have half-naked alien babes and phaser fights like TOS.I hoped Andromeda would be better, but the scripts seem to rip off Star Trek tng a little too much(plus the acting sucks).I would much rather see an American Red Dwarf series attempted here anyways.
2001-08-24 01:10:40 PM
But is it from "Patch Adams: The Director's Cut"? (for the person or two who might have seen "Cecil B. Demented"...)
2001-08-24 01:10:47 PM
I think UPN tried to rip off Red Dwarf already: "Homeboys From Outer Space." It completely sucked except for the James Doohan cameo... at first. All they could do with him were make tired "Scotty" jokes.

Boojie: Mods deleted it b/c it was just a crappy useless Boobies comment.

Jaybee: I'm not telling. ;)

"We we're dressed up for a Trekkie Convention and all of a sudden, Chandra said 'beam me up' and it worked!" "All along I thought the communicators were just toys" "So, Capt Spock has Chandra now, I swear."

Gary Condit.

i'd watch Trek 16 before wasting my time on such pure drivel.
2001-08-24 02:30:59 PM
Like this: Boobies.
2001-08-24 02:38:20 PM
Babylon 5 was a stronger show by leaving the following tired old Trek concepts out (not that there aren't more, these are just my top four):

1. Holodeck accidents that threaten the whole ship. This is like a mall being destroyed by a malfunctioning Zaxxon game in the arcade.
2. Time travel. Puh-leeze. This takes place so often it's suprising that more people don't alter the timeline to avoid parking tickets. Besides, they could never decide how "changes" to the timeline actually worked. B5 only did it ONCE, and they did it VERY well (i.e. history wasn't changed; you just learned WHY things happened).
3. Technological advance so ludicrous it's a wonder why the feds send ships out at all. This also eats up show time because you have to spend half an episode disabling every escape route the characters could use via technology.
4. Story arcs for the entire show are made up as they go along. NO TREK SERIES HAS EVER BEEN PLANNED OUT! GIVE YOUR DAMN SHOWS A DIRECTION AND GOAL, PARAMOUNT! The original series was great and groundbreaking. TNG was an acceptable successor, but Voyager had NO excuse to keep doing shows that could be shuffled around with no loss in what laughably passed for continuity.

There. My Geek Beast has returned to his cage for now...
2001-08-24 02:48:01 PM
I concur that "Voyager", for the most part, sucked (Now, this is the tale of our castaways; they're here for a long, long time...ptthhhhh!!!!"), and that "B5", for the most part, ruled (Seasons 2 through 4 were as good as or better than TV sci-fi has ever been.). And I am farkin' disappointed that when Dumbass Berman proposed the idea for a bloody "prequel" series, Paramount replied, "Make it so!" That isn't what fans wanted, they knew it, yet they greenlighted it anyway! I'll watch the show's first few, but the odds are long that I'll stick around.

I'm sure the senior citizens will love this show.
I say bring back Knight Rider ! for goodness sakes.

2001-08-24 05:36:18 PM
Knight Rider IS coming back... as a full movie, like in the theater....

can you dig that?
2001-08-24 06:09:13 PM
I've always enjoyed the ST series in general, but I've had a few problems with the show.

No seat belts, seriously, considering how often the ships are hit and people go flying over control panels, you'd think they'd install them.

Speaking of control panels, even the lightest hit causes them all the explode in a wave of sparks.

And on of the bigger problems is the fact, that, no matter how trival or dangerous a mission is, they always send down the majority of the command crew, these ships sometimes have have hundreds of crew members who seem to do nothing.
Then again, anyone who watched the original knows, anyone else who gets sent down (particularly if wearing red shirts) is just going to get phasered, blown up or eaten, so I gues if they want anything done they have to send the main characters down.

That story is a load of crap. The new theme song will be the Hamster Dance song, sung by Scott Bakula
2001-08-24 09:20:53 PM
Actually, Qermaq, Bakula won't be singing- he just plays the banjo. The theme is a duet sung by Melanie Griffith and Rosie Perez.
2001-08-24 10:45:25 PM
still better than Babbleon 5
2001-08-24 11:03:06 PM
Your arguements are overwhelming, Augie...
2001-08-24 11:11:32 PM
you farking know it
2001-08-24 11:59:16 PM
Don't fark with Augie... I will come to your house and beat you with my COWBELL
2001-08-25 07:41:21 PM
Why dont they just do a Star Trek/Cop Rock type show? That's how it seems all these shows are turning out quality wise.
