"God taught the children of Israel not to intermarry."

Which is to say, don't marry your sister.

Obama is a Marxist Muslim who wants to kill babies. Those who support him are too.

Bait and Switch 101

sounds more like over-generalization than bait and switch.

Find AN inbred moron who hates Obama, misquotes the bible, makes not-at-all bigoted statements about Muslims and black men and who shouts "socialist!" in response to most questions?

Just one? I can find dozens, if not hundreds, on YouTube.

I'm still waiting for the McCain supporter who has honest and intelligent disagreements with Obama policy rather than the typical terrorist, socialist, foreigner empty accusations.

I could drive around the Florida panhandle and find more than one, if that's the sort of qualifier you're putting on "Bait and Switch," submitter.

I only wish the only thing people could come up with to hate was the color of his skin. In that case I would vote for him. Unfortunately, there's lots of stuff to dislike.

Also, this article was surprisingly good. FTFA:

As psychoanalyst Adam Phillips has succinctly observed, "We hold ourselves together by keeping things apart." While legally sanctioned racial segregation in public life may be moldering in history's dustbin, a corresponding segregation in our inner lives continues to structure our thoughts and emotions.

Some people consciously, most unconsciously, hold on for dear life to the pure and invariant categories of "good" and "bad." Keeping them apart and unambiguously distinct helps us retain a reassuring infantile fantasy of safety, order and certainty. "Race" lends itself well to this process of splitting. Imagined as fundamentally unlike us, the racialized other becomes the perfect receptacle into which we are free to project all the wishes, impulses, and longings that we cannot bear to see in our ethnic group or ourselves. In other words, racism allows us to be all-good because there is someplace outside of us to put the bad.

Of course, this ruse we perpetrate on ourselves only works if we can sustain the delusion of absolute difference. Those who are more consciously racist rely on what Erik Erickson called "pseudo-speciation," viewing other racial groups as separate species. "Inter-breeding" thereby becomes a psychological, as well as a theological abomination.

That's a theory I've believed for years, so it's good to hear that validated from an actual psychoanalyst.

MacG: Unfortunately, there's lots of stuff to dislike.

Most of the "stuff" turns out to be nonsense.

Ayers?
ACORN?
Rev Wright?
"Socialism! Socialism! Socialism!!"?
Muslim?
Not a US citizen?
"Baby killer!"?

What little bits of truth ARE in there are unimportant to me. That there are so many lies in there shows just how valid most of that "stuff" is.

On the other hand:

* Health care policy -- I like his direction
* Economic policy -- more stable than McCain's "spending freeze....except military....and veteran's care....and, uh...infrastructure, education, anything else he can think of at the moment which is obviously needed"
* Pro choice (vs McCain's flip flopping on Roe v Wade for the past decade)
* Against the war in Iraq.
* FOR a stronger war against Al Qaeda in Afghanistan
* able to see "diplomacy" as important and not just a glossed-over step on the march to war.

Real Americans™ support Sarah Palin.
If you do not support Sarah Palin, you are not a Real American™.

This was not said by any average inbred racist moron, This was said by someone running for the vice presidency of the USA.

Sarah Palin is Queen of the Inbred Racist Morons.

Chearl: I'm still waiting for the McCain supporter who has honest and intelligent disagreements with Obama policy rather than the typical terrorist, socialist, foreigner empty accusations.

I've been doing phone canvassing for Obama for the past 2 weeks and have found exactly ONE McCain supporter who had a valid argument: He makes over $400K/year, so will save over $3K in taxes. He was also quite vehement about Obama's diplomatic views on foreign policy, preferring McCain's saber-rattling ideas. "After all, it worked for Reagan with Russia, didn't it?"

FTFA: As Ricky Thompson, a pipe fitter from Mobile, Alabama,

First off, the NY Times reporter CLEARLY had an agenda. Second, he went into a Wal Mart parking lot asking people about Obama so he knew what he was doing targeting lower class whites. Third, he never would report or seek comments like that in NY, NJ or CT. Fourth, Mobile is a majority white city with a black mayor.

That's because republicans hated mccain up until a few months ago. As honestly as people like limbaugh and hannity can't stand Obama, it tears them up inside to support mccain. This fact brightens my day a little.

submitter does not understand "Bait and Switch."

"Bait and Switch" is what happens when submitter writes a headline that is completely contrary to what the article states. We are baited into clicking, and then the promised article is nowhere to be found, with something less interesting instead.

Then again, perhaps submitter DOES understand Bait and Switch.

Who exactly is it that keeps scouring the Internet for pro-republican link submissions to FARK? I mean, damn, you've got to be a pretty big time loser to feel the need to defend the Republican cesspool, let alone taking a proactive involvement.

I'm of the belief that anyone still trying to actively help McCain/Palin is an Ashley Todd drone.

OK OK, we have cherry-picking outrage-inciting bloggers on our side too.

But I bet that well over half of those voting McCain are doing so not because they like Mac, but because they hate Obama, and many of those hate him for some pretty dumb-ass reasons.

Fark is probably the wrong place to post this particular headline, given that 100% of "Fark Republicans Independents™" actually ARE inbred, racist, morons.

Seriously, read some of the horseshiat posted by Danlpoon, Softens_Hands, NYZooMan, Darconix, and so-forth. Then tell me that they're not mouth-breathing douchebags. I'm not saying that all Republicans are retarded assholes, but I am saying they're the only kind we see around these parts.
