It's people like this that makes it so hard to take the DNC seriously.

Yeah. And doggone it, I've been trying real hard.

Seventh graders make it hard for you to take the DNC seriously? Really? That's kind of silly.

Yeah, seventh grade students run a lot of the powerful positions in DC...you idiot.

? (possible sarcasm detection malfunction...rebooting...)

I just don't see the necessity in sending your young kid to school with campaign-wear. Ya, ya, free speech and all, but it's just asking for trouble.

2008-10-17 11:55:40 AM
So some stupid kids decided that she must be a racist because she wore a pink Palin shirt and taunted her. Well, kids at that age are stupid and mean. This might be news if the school made her take it off, but they deny even knowing about this. I can't believe this made the local Orlando news and got greenlit here.

They didn't grow the attitude on their own.

Yeah, not the DNC proper... more the people that call themselves Democrats.

2008-10-17 12:00:00 PM
I suspect there might be more to the story?

If it's truly just the plain Palin shirt, yeah, those kids are dumb, but hey, they're in junior high. Junior high kids will taunt each other for ANYTHING.

Meanwhile I'm forbidden from wearing any political wear to work, so I won't really be getting a kick out of these replies.

Have you seen any footage of the Palin rallys? I don't call myself a Democrat, but I would be ashamed to call myself a Republican.

Especially given that everyone involved is treating it like a non issue. No punishments, and the girl intends to wear it again. Where's the story?

That's the fault of the campaign staff failing to control the crowd - or, more likely, making sure that attitude is reflected & just said out loud by people in the crowd.

Diogenes: I just don't see the necessity in sending your young kid to school with campaign-wear.

I'd guess that the girl got it from a rally her parents brought her to recently, and she wanted to wear it to school. Hell, at that age, the kid probably wants McCain/Palin to win because a) she saw one of them in person, and b) to get back at those kids.

It's not racist but it does help sort out the kids who use the short bus.

Put the kid on Obama's "Hate Speech" internet registry!

Then rally up all the Obamabots to torch the kid's house!

I can only imagine how much people would freak out at me if I wore one (at college).
...
OMG. Must. Get. Palin. Shirt.

Gee- this reminds me of the article I submitted TWO HOURS AGO with a different headline. Admittly this headline is better than mine. Funny how none of my submissions go green, yet the same ones show up an hour or so later from someone else.

As a subsititute middle school teacher, I find myself in a unique position to lend my opinion.

Middle school kids are idiots. No seriously, they are really stupid, especially on topics like politics. That is all

/who the hell alerted the media about this? That is the real story here.

2008-10-17 12:07:21 PM
Holy farking shiat, are you trying to tell me that 12 year olds pick out the one who is different then call them names??? Color me shocked. If this had been a case of the school administration telling the child to change her shirt that would be one thing (something I would be totally against), but a bunch of kids calling an outsider names is a non-issue.

Meanwhile at schools in poorer neighborhoods Obama and ACORN is trying to get the kids registered.

Might as well get used to the chants of racism now I guess.

She didn't make her sentence terribly clear, she's still saying "they said I wanted the white guy to win, that's not true."
She's twelve, give her a break.

It helps them bolster their pre-defeat victimization card. Most Republicans I see have given up on talking about any real issues what so ever. All you hear from them is ACORN is voter fraud, the MSM conspired against McCain, and everyone that votes for Obama are a bunch of hipsters, voting for the black guy to make themselves feel progressive. It's sad that they can't admit that lots of smart (and dumb) people disagree with them for valid reasons.

You should have to try to adhere to the "Hatch Act" when it comes to political dealings at work...

I hope a bunch of Republicans kill themselves on Nov. 5th. They'd get off the welfare and finally do something to help this country if they were dead.

Notice the spectrum at the top of this page. It's an article from Fox about how stupid and oppressive democratic party voters are.

How much you want to be the same article, reversed, if posted on Slate, would be listed as "commie"?

After all, according to Fark, every NRO or WND article is the same as every MSNBC or NYTimes article in terms of its wingnut nature. That's how we know Fark is balanced.

Depends. Why do you want the black guy to win?

2008-10-17 12:10:21 PM
Can someone clarify this?

"Some of the students were calling me racist because I was Caucasian," she said. "I wanted the Caucasian man to win. And I told them that's not true. It's my freedom of speech, it's my opinion."

Did she claim her reason behind supporting McCain/Palin was that she wanted the Caucasian man to win? Or is this just awkward phrasing that I can't decipher. If the former, this is arguable. If the latter, it is silly.

That's how I interpreted things too. Which is why I'm thinking, surely there's more to the story than this? Otherwise... why is this news?

Ok, so who do you think best represents their respective political parties? 12 year olds or McCain's campaign staff?

Jones' parents say they aren't mad at the school they just want everyone including their daughter to voice their opinion constructively.

Officials with Volusia County Schools said there were no referrals or complaints to the office about this incident.

Kid: "Mom someone called me a name at school"
Mom: "Really? Honey lets call the TV station"

This is what's wrong with people in general now days.

The sad part of this is that those little kids were probably regurgitating the views of their parents....and their parents are stupid....and their vote counts the same as your vote. The joke is on you.
