Welcome to Farktography!

This Week's Theme: "Collections"
Description
: Show off collections of things. Most people have some sort of collection or know people who do.. stamps, pressed flowers, beer cans, screws that you don't know what they go to and they might still be useful, etc.

We ask that before submitting your photos you read and adhere to the following submission rules, including but not limited to the following:

- Submissions must be photographs; screen captures do not count as photographs.
- You must be the original photographer of your entry. Do not submit anyone else's photography as your own.
- You are only allowed to enter a photograph once. Do not submit the same photo to another contest later.
- You may enter 3 photos in each contest as long as each photo is of a different composition.
- Please post each photo separately so they can be voted for individually.

Ideally, your photograph should be presented as taken, with as little alteration as possible either digitally in-camera or in your image editor during post-processing. No selectively applied digital effects! No removal or addition of image elements, no spot treatments, and no HDR images, please.

With few exceptions (red-eye removal, sensor or scan dust removal), modifications to the original photograph must be made evenly across the image.
See the rules for more information on acceptable modifications, or check in at the Farktography Forums.

Legal: All photographers submitting photos to this contest are the legal copyright holders for the photos submitted and the photos are not to be considered free for any other use without written consent from the submitting photographers.

To have your photo website listed on the Farktography home page, please send your Fark username and url to admin(at)farktography.net and we'll get you up forthwith. (also, indicate if you're willing to share your photographs for use as source images in PhotoShop contests)

- Drop by the Farktography Forum (for chatting, critique, techtalk and so on)

- Image hosting sites can be found here.

- Stats can be found here.

Sad scene across the street from us earlier this year. An older couple was evicted after they lost their house in a tax/foreclosure auction. The husband belonged to the Republic of Texas (Wiki it for info) and refused to pay taxes, etc. for what we can tell, over 5 years. The wife is too sick to take care of herself, and was basically helpless to prevent it.

After they were forcibly removed from the house (he wouldn't come out, they tried to drill out the locks, and ended up kicking the front door in) by no less than 6 Dallas county sheriffs, a team of movers emptied the house out. It took them TWO full days.

This pile is only about 1/2 of all the stuff they had in the house. They "collected" everything apparently.

A story about collections, Part 2

Every wall of every room of Lou's house was covered with trains. And not cheap toys, either. This was the good stuff, 99 44/100% pure hardcore models- handmade brass, scratchbuilt HO cabooses, you name it, he had it. Lou bought one of my brass locomotives sight unseen, because he "didn't have that one".

A story about collections, Part 3

Lou taught me an important lesson about collecting things. Either go all the way, or stay home. To this day I've never collected anything, because I'd lose interest of run out of money long before I'd be satisfied. I'd seen a master at work.

No, these aren't wedding rings for The Hulk. They're high alloy heat treated steel rings that will be ground into the machine gun turret thrust bearings for the up-armored HumVees. About 50,000 lbs worth them, as a matter of fact.

They're scattered like that thanks to a nit-wit female driver in Atlanta who pulled out in front of my semi rig. My rig stopped. The rings tried to escape through the front of the trailer. Partially succeeding.

Smoker's Cocktail

The is a photo of the last month's supply of meds that my late father took to treat emphysema and heart failure, the result of smoking much of his life. He quit about 20 years before his death but by then it was too late.
