(WCBStv.com)   Rep. Charles Rangel, yesterday: "Sarah Palin is disabled." Then he said it again. Then once more for good measure. Today: "That's not what I meant to say"   (wcbstv.com) divider line

She's not disabled. The people who think she's a worthy candidate are, certainly. The McCain campaign is, also, for choosing her. And I'm surprised that Alaskans who voted for her can even get through their day-to-day basic functions without assistance. But Palin herself? Nah, no disability there.

2008-09-21 7:07:11 PM
Oh, Charlie. You should have said "differently-abled."

/It takes one to know one.

2008-09-21 7:18:02 PM
'Politically disabled', Charlie. Should have put 'politically' in front of that word, or maybe 'Foreign-policy' disabled. Something. NEVER let that word hang there by itself when describing a person, politically.

Now you've given all kinds of ammunition to the retards out there.

Sadly, she's not disabled. She's far, far, FAR too normal. That's the problem.

There's a large swath that also thinks Obama is a Secret Muslim, and/or Obama and William Ayers are plotting sinister stuff. I think "disabled" is an understatement.

My tasteless joke aside, this article is so horribly biased that it's astonishing.

Charles Rangel really put his foot in his mouth on Friday... The question was simple: Why are the Democrats so afraid of Palin and her popularity?...

I can only fathom an interview with the woman herself. "Governor? How did you get to be so AWESOME?"

2008-09-21 7:31:09 PM
They interpreted "lipstick on a pig" as Obama calling Palin a pig. I'd say the McCain campaign is either mentally disabled or completely dishonest.

2008-09-21 7:31:36 PM
If he meant mentally disabled, then what's the problem?

When a person says they have executive experience just because they state can see Russia out the window -- their (mentally) disabled.

When a person says they never heard of "bride of nowhere" only to discover they supported it till the end -- their (mentally) disabled.

When a person tries to ban Harry Potter books from the library -- their (mentally) disabled.

See a pattern?

I have to admit getting a laugh out of some of the more staunch republicans screeching about the "Obama Cult of Personality" and then turning right around and creaming their jeans about the "Holy Hockey Mom" as the second coming of Reagan.

If you don't like her because she's inexperienced and possibly not the right person for the job, that's one thing. But she seems like she'd be a very nice person in real life. I don't understand what so many people have against her.

A nice person would seriously consider whether or not they're ready to take a top executive spot of a country, and make decisions for all of the lives of the citizens in said country.

She hasn't, and she won't, and there's nothing nice about that.

"Charlie Rangel's comments are clearly disgraceful," Rep. Peter King, R-Long Island, said. "This is just another liberal Democrat who can't accept an independent woman running for president."

Shes a Republican running for Vice President.

"It makes me feel as if he's trying to put her down, trying to say she's not good for the presidency or the vice presidency," said Michael Imperiale of Disabled In Action Of Metropolitan N.Y.

Yes, that IS what is being said.

"A disabled president ran this country. He was disabled. His name was Roosevelt."

He was disabled and was able to run? Well, well now... I knew he looked like a faker.

She accepted an offer for one of the most important jobs in the world knowing full well she is not qualified. Is she irresponsible or does she think she's really that good? She should have respectfully declined. Instead, she says she didn't even blink. She's just wired that way. Is it hubris?

I don't think she knows she's unqualified.

Unfortunately you may be right. After more of the things that have come to light recently it seems like it may be a front. Someone wrote in another thread that if her daughter marries her boyfriend he will probably get some good paying state job to support them and that seems like an abuse of power. Being from Illinois and working for the state I wish I could get some great paying executive job with no education or experience but alas I don't have the connections. I would have to know her personally but if it is a front shes doing a very good job at convincing people.

Plus the very fact that she puts on the homemaker image all while being governor makes me doubt her. If she's such a family person why isn't she at home taking care of her kids instead of trying to run the state and now the country?

I was for my bride to nowhere, till I was against her.

I think she's disabled.
Between the annoying accent, screechy voice and utter lack of character, I think she is more disabled than a one legged man in an ass kicking contest.
I would go so far as to say she is politicallyn RETARDED and too STUPID to understand it.
But, what REALLY disturns me is that the American People are more retarded than her i how they glom onto her like she is the second coming (And she mighht actually think she IS the second coming).

Maybe she is. But to paraphrase what Jon Stewart said the other night about Bush, I'd probably like them if they weren't in charge (or trying to be in charge) of me. Right now, they're just assholes.

2008-09-21 8:11:49 PM
Can Democrats and Republicans agree to stop the "no experience" pissing contest already. Experience does not a good president make. If there was a person who could be president you could probably yank them from middle management at Starbucks, give them a support staff, and if they were able to make the correct judgements and handle the pressure they'd step up to the task. The question is about judgement, and the nearly bible thumping religious fervor of Mrs. Palin makes me doubt her judgement. As for Mr. Rangel, I think we can all agree that this was a dick move and he should probably apologize.

Can I just threadjack for a second? Olbermann is doing NFL highlights on NBC right now. It's weird. I know he used to be a sports guy, but I half expect him to start yelling at Bush. (George, not Reggie.)
