Now this deserves government intervention. I'm all for free markets, even with the financial collapse, but enough is enough.

Butchers said that the price of bacon was increasing with financial experts blaming rising demand from China for pushing up prices.

Apparently, Kung Pao Bacon is a very popular dish.

The government will never step in to intervene on high bacon prices. We should be happy that bacon isn't taxed 150% because it's "bad" for you.

That's because the pork barrels would be taxed too.

I have two butchers that I go to when I need bacon. One - home cured, thick cut, smoked... excellent. The second butcher has bacon in slabs. He cuts it for you right there, as thick as you want it. Still cheaper than the packaged bacon you get in the grocery stores, and much tastier.

Randolph Duke: Exactly why do you think the price of pork bellies is going to keep going down, William?
Billy Ray Valentine: Okay, pork belly prices have been dropping all morning, which means that everybody is waiting for it to hit rock bottom, so they can buy low. Which means that the people who own the pork belly contracts are saying, "Hey, we're losing all our damn money, and Christmas is around the corner, and I ain't gonna have no money to buy my son the G.I. Joe with the kung-fu grip! And my wife ain't gonna f... my wife ain't gonna make love to me if I got no money!" So they're panicking right now, they're screaming "SELL! SELL!" to get out before the price keeps dropping. They're panicking out there right now, I can feel it.
[on the ticker machine, the price keeps dropping]
Randolph Duke: He's right, Mortimer! My God, look at it!

Seems like sad tag would be more appropos for bacon prices jumping.

You know what's amusing? Pretending bacon made from chicken tastes anything like bacon.

That's funny, my grocery store just started selling bacon for $1.50 a pound. Hooray for store brands!

It's a shame that there aren't that many butcher shops around anymore. The grocery stores around here cut their steaks too thin for my taste, and the packaged bacon is sliced WAY too thin.

On second thought, my ex-wife works at the wholesale food distributor where I used to work, and can get bacon and beef in big chunks I could cut myself. Plus, they're restaurant quality, and less expensive with her employee discount!
