Ghost Ship?

2008-09-19 8:38:59 PM
could be a two-masted Civil War schooner that ran aground in 1862 or another ship from some 70 years later.

had already been partially uncovered when Hurricane Camille cleared away sand in 1969.

Wow this is really not very exciting.

I don't think that's what they meant when they said the south will rise again.

Rebel (algae) SCUM!

2008-09-19 8:48:00 PM
Well, I hope they don't want a government handout. If they didn't want the boat to be uncovered they shouldn't have left it where a hurricane could uncover it...

/got nuthin,
//hanging out in the 'they bought their tickets, they knew what they were in for' Ike threads too much...

Katrina unearthed an Native American Indian mound that predated the historic Oak trees along the coast in Mississippi. It was a huge archeological find.

But
it had already been uncovered by Hurricane Donna in 1960

I think the bigger story on the page was the link that mentions that FEMA will no longer send ice to the hurricane ravaged region.

Yeah, because Alabamians love to go to their own tourist attractions.

Researchers at the time identified it as the Monticello, a battleship that partially burned

Maybe, if aliens attack, they can rebuild it from the keel up into some kind of space battleship?

I go fishing and swimming about 1/2 mile from Fort Morgan on a regular basis. I'll try and get out to the wreckage tomorrow and get some pics. Perhaps I'll repost..

I feel like I should purchase an inexpensive whip and fedora on the way over there. The pics would be heavenly.

FTFA: "They need to get this thing inside before it falls apart or another storm comes along and sends it through those houses there like a bowling ball."

They need to get it inside before someone tries to sell it for scrap metal.
