The comments after the story really punctuate how intelligent the discourse on Fark usually is. I'm surprised many of the posters there are able to operate a computer without pooping on it.

Said poop would likely provide more useful insight than some of those comments. Yikes.

Hey, how do you expect the city to keep increasing revenue if they let every rape victim out of a speeding ticket?

Just double the fee for being raped.

... there is a fee for being raped, right?

Hell with the ways things are going, she should just be happy he didn't write any other additional tickets or cite her for any other make believe infractions. Hell, she should just be lucky she wasn't a black man who was bleeding and naked. Otherwise they would have suspected her as an unreported assailant to a crime.

I'm really shocked he didn't taze her!

What thought process do you engage as a cop to let a woman in that condition drive to the hospital alone? As a normal citizen I would've done more to help her than that jackass did. WTF.

It's not about believing allegations. It's about filing a farking report, when a CRIME is REPORTED.

Serve And Protect, not Harass and Collect.

The sheriff here is retiring, after over 20 years......

finally.

As well as the rapist, since he's known to the family of the woman.

He should have asked to see her vagina. You know, for evidence.

Well, that's what I would have done, anyway.

I'm speechless.

For those who still haven't figured it out:
THE POLICE ARE NOT THERE TO PROTECT YOU.

As has been confirmed by the Supreme Court the cops are under no obligation to either "protect" or "serve" despite what the decals on the cruiser may say otherwise.

The police exist as an armed revenue-collection service for the state, and little more.

I think what is Illustri is saying is that he is not 100% sure that the interaction with the officer, what was said, what his response was, was exactly as she claims, several days later. Hard to say without appearing to blame the victim, but it seems unusual for an officer to ignore a report of a violent crime

He was on traffic duty, not personal escort duty. You know how much paperwork they have to fill out if they pull someone over and let them go? Besides, he wouldn't have met his quota.

"If you don't have anything to hide, there's no reason for me to investigate any further so please carry on."

uhhh Illustri
I hope you were being facetious, because I think anyone who encounters a half naked, disturbed, bleeding, crying woman has a social responsibility to ensure that person's welfare until they are in capable hands.
Doubly so because it was a police officer.

And I think the reports of her condition upon arrival at the mental hospital speak volumes about her instability and physical condition at the time, as well as the officer's dereliction of duty regardless of whether she was raped or not.

"Back in my day we'd take a guy like you out back and beat him with a rubber hose. "

Don't bet on it... he'll probably get a medal, and it was probably a fellow cop that raped her.

I was shocked when I first saw the headline and thought "no way, subby must be just trying to stir up shiat" and then I read the farking article. It was a Colorado springs cop which explains a lot, I'm actually kind of surprised he didn't try to write her a ticket for having premarital sexual relations.

2008-08-29 10:05:16 PM
Yeah, this chick sounds credible.....

2008-08-29 10:06:35 PM
Calling all victims! Calling all victims! I had a great deal of sympaty for the woman and animosity toward the cop -- at first. Then the whole tale turns into a cluster fark where she's known the guy for years, didn't report the rape right away and has her parents passing out the alabis hand over hand. Hoo-whee, this one is a pip!

Mommy said, "Part of her disability has to do with how she has relationships," her mother said. "The disabled are the first to be preyed upon and abused. That is Disability 101." (loosely translated: "Our daughter isn't REALLY a coke-snorting tramp who rondezvous in guys hotel rooms... She's mentally ill!"

And exactly what form of mental illness forces anyone to be involved with a shiatbag like this guy?
Certainly not paranoia. I'm thinking there a lot more to this whole tale than anyone is letting on and lean strongly toward drug abuse. What woman in her right mind just scoots over to a hotel room of a known violent shiathead -- according to Mommy -- late at night and therein gets knocked around?

Ah there's this story and there's that story, and somewhere in between lies the truth.
